Noxxon

I was smashing WM inductees and poorly eq'd Warmasters left and right. I got 4-5 rounded by Tyrus/Lucour regularly with zero way to combat it. I'm not some novice player who can't think of ways to get around of it, believe me I tried them all. Got stale and my RP was going nowhere. Had been V for like 17 days. Just found myself logging in to log off.

I didn't abandon Noxxon because of PK reasons. The only deaths I took were while DC'd vs Lucour and something I won't mention vs Tyrus. Other than that Noxxon was almost impossible to pin down. I let Noxxon go because of boredom, RP that wasn't going anywhere, and not having the desire to play another 17 days wondering if I would get T and be able to experiment more with the combo.

Noxxon was a very in depth character, had a faction he was attempting to build with Vescer who apparently has disappeared, etc. The PK element is something I've enjoyed for 12 years here, I can have that on any combo, any character. I wanted more. Didn't find it, so I'm moving on...no hard feelings.

Thanks Mali, I appreciate that coming from you. And there's a reason why Illithid Psi's are uncommon...I knew it was a sub-par PK combo (being able to steamroll naked people or people who cant use sanc doesnt count) but I wanted the challenge. A dozen people told me not to do it and that I would hate it, but I wanted to do it anyway. I thought they had to have some staying power, but they most certainly do not, not on an equal playing field at least.

vs Mages you can't keep them pinned down or blinded.

vs Rogues you can't keep them pinned down or do enough damage quickly enough.

vs Melee that are as equally geared as you, you soak up WAY too much damage. Through -600ac and beyond.

It's a novelty combo at best. Due to class mechanics I'd have to soak up 4 rounds of damage, vs Tyrus/Lucour/many other decently dressed melee, that's 800hp while I haven't even STARTED with damage spells.

I enjoyed every moment of it. I think a cabal like Syndi where people aren't necessarily always going to be poisoned expecting you, unlike a Savant vs WM war where they always knew I would be after them and so they were poisoned, literally, 24/7.

It just got old pretty fast and with nothing else going or reason to expect anything would change (there was one psi change, but it hindered me more than anything else), I decided to move on to something else.

I wrote plenty of notes. I know how big of a game changer it is, had plenty of T/E Savants :P

Like I said, the character just got stale. It wasn't all about me being pissy about not being T or not killing people. Just got boring being virtually alone vs Clsoud/Tyrus who would constantly 4-5 round me. My cabal leader got booted, cabal elder got booted. I was fighting the good fight best I could and not feeling appreciated/noticed. Can only do that for so many weeks before it gets stale.

There's nothing I hate more than someone using excuses like, "I wasn't being noticed", "I didn't get promoted fast enough for my liking." Just because you don't see someone, doesn't mean they're not watching your EVERY move. Every character is promoted at different speeds.

The lack of patience amazes me.

So for 17 days you "watched" but never once said anything about the several notes I sent, faction I tried to create, or even responded to a question I asked you? How motivating :P While those are all facts, they are not the compelling reason I let go of the character.

Like I said, I was bored with the characters RP, the lack of allies, and many other things. This is not just because I didn't get promoted. I would have been asking in prayer forum, etc about promotions if that was the case. You're being sensitive.

You're so vain....you probably think this deletion is about you....

Like I said. I didn't stop playing Noxxon because I wasn't getting attention. If I had been upset or wondering about it I would have said or asked about it in prayer forum. I just played and RPd Noxxon and the result was that he was a boring, predictable character to play and so I moved on.

If you want to argue about your involvement we can do that privately but please don't degrade this thread into something that it isn't. I have absolutely zero hard feelings. Learned long ago that if you're not being promoted you aren't doing something right, I failed at figuring out what i was doing wrong with Noxxon and among MANY other things I let him go. Stop harping on a very small percentage of the reason I gave him up please.

Not here to tell you how to interact with players or how to run your cabal, but since you want to compare what you do/did with the alternative being leaving notes and holding hands....Love notes and hand holding sounds better than nothing, which is the level of interaction I got from you, just saying. Again, not why I gave up on Noxxon, but fact is fact.

I have plenty of patience. But I also have common sense enough to realize when a character has become stale and boring. Would being cabal promoted have kept me around? Sure, for maybe another week until I realized it didn't change any of the dynamics of my character. So, again, please don't try to take one thing I said and turn it into something it's not. I didn't roll and rank TWO illithid psi's just to give up on one so easily. There was A LOT of factors that came into me putting him on the shelf, not just the notion that you were never around.

I totally understand your issue with people who spend a week in a cabal and then give up because they don't think they are being promoted fast enough and so they whine and complain in game and on prayer forum about it. I get that. BUT I DID NOT DO ANY OF THAT. So don't try to belittle me as if you not giving me 20 minutes of your time every day was the reason I let go of a boring, stale character that was not adding anything to the game.

Locked up. Problem solved. Egreir, you have a feedback thread for psi's in the Prayer Forum.

When you come to General, post delete, and then openly criticize what a qclass can and cannot do, you're walking a fine line with qclass info. When you say part of the reason you left was being stuck at V for a certain amount of time, saying you weren't feeling noticed or appreciated, you're bound to step on toes.

Just because you are a veteran does not mean other veterans will not occasionally mop the floor with you. You said yourself you were wiping the floor with newly initiated Warmasters and Warmasters who were ill-equipped, but not doing so well against the better decked, higher ranked Warmasters.

Continue stepping on toes across these forums and I will personally send you packing on a month long forum vacation, minimum.

Sidenote: 17 days at V is not really very long in my opinion. If you've been at V for 2 months, it's perhaps time to ask carefully on prayer forum if you've been forgotten (has happened in the past) or are doing something wrong / not right. Asking for advise is also something else than demanding a promotion (this is not directed at Noxxon but a general advise).
