I have been growing a HC witch lately.

She is 25. here are her passive skills currently.

I am using skeleton, zombies and spectre at the moment. Have the taunting totem so i can redirect the flow of enemies when I get pressed. I assist my pets with frost nova, cold snap, fireball and wand damage.

This is how I expect it to look when i finish normal mode. Or close to it.

Notice i am going double totem. I plan to use skele totem, and an attack totem changing from two skele totems or two dps totems being out depending on what I am up against.

Survivablility seems unfair at this point. The game becomes more of a RTS type game with the pet class and I have only once been below 50% hp in all of act I, and so far in act II. I play with the mentality that getting hit even once is bad, and have cleared entire maps without even dropping my energy shield. The act I final boss was a little difficult at 1st, though once I figured out how to spam skele summon and alternate fireballs between casts she went down easy. When she was in her necro phase I was able to re-summon at a faster pace and overwhelmed her with skellies lol. From what I have read, when I get minion instability next lvl that I will begin to ROFLSTOMP for a while.

When i shift to two totems I will also begin picking up curse and buff auras. I expect to run two curses with double curse and permanent duration in Cruel difficulty, with lightning / ice aura on my pets to boost damage. SInce no direct damage spells can be used with the dual totem talent my character becomes a back line support necro, her only direct support dmg being wanding.

Here is what my overall node plan looks like. The order in which I progress will be determined by how my survivability is scaling. I currently expect to get minion nodes first then fill out with hp, energy shield, and the shield buff for my minions when I feel things begin to get rough (probably late cruel)

I'm enjoying playing ranged, but I would probably start as a marauder if I remade him. I started as a ranger, then I started as a duelist, and now I'm saying the marauders start in the best location for bow builds. Also, I've come to agree that gains in physical damage are far outclassed by gains in elemental damage, so I would shoot for plenty of +elemental damage nodes in addition to fire/ice/lightning arrow as my main attack, fueled by blood magic. Forget the default attack. Marauder starts in a much better location for quick access to elemental damage, tons of health/regen, and blood magic. He also has the quickest access to the most resist, to top it off.

If/when he dies, I'm going to try out a witch or templar and explore the north half of the board some. CI and EB look pretty attractive.

We should look into, the three of us (Inscribed, Mali & Myself), doing a static group where we play 1-2 nights a week together and level as a group. We could share auras, buffs & curses. Level those guys as a group and have our own solo guys as well.

The charging Rhoas and their variations are nasty as hell.

Last night I saw the strongest character I've ever seen up to level 28. While we were team fighting, this marauder came, wielding Geofri's (sp?) hammer and was killing the opposite party all by himself. Every single character was falling with 1 blow. I played like 10 games with him, luckily we were always in the same team. I saw him once jump on 2 characters at the same time and they both died at once.

past 30 now, still alive..

managed to do the bandits quests without losing my energy shield.

Get to start using spell totem in one level, very excited!

It is so funny too, the perspective as a necromancer in this game. Your going through the forest and the bandits are asleep in their tents. You walk in the middle of their camp and summon a pair of skeletons at each tent, who then destroy the bandits as they wake up. Who is evil?

I am curious does anyone else try to max out their gear to every act's new gear level?

I didn't do this in default league, but in HC, I find it keeps me well ahead of the damage curve. The energy shield size more than doubles each act, and swapping my gear up has allowed me to take some hefty direct hits without touching my hp pool.

I max out my gear as often as possible.... I mean what stops you from not wearing a good item you found?

Socket configuration.

Comes a point where you need specific pairings of linked sockets. Spells scale with these way better than solo.

Like minion summoning has a +hp support gem, and a + dmg support gem.

I asked because its so expensive to keep adjusting sockets.
