For anyone feeling a bit... poor in game like I am currently (due to a stupid gem reward choice... how did I not pick fork and took added cold damage instead...) I've noticed a very quick way to make some money involves rushing a witch through act 1. You can acquire the in demand Clarity (mana regen) aura and a fork support gem by completing act 1. Duelists also can acquire the in vogue lightning strike as well as a fork. Talking to a guy in game who did it, he suggests utilizing nova and summon zombies to quickly cut through act 1.

Just wow.

That massive skill tree hides so much lol.

This game has like fifteen caster types all buildable on the witch.

I trashed my first attempt, but now think I can build a pretty intense mage using the power orb system.

Will be on as Dylane. Does this game have a global friends list?

What is this power orb system??

[edit] You mean the power charges?

There are three kinds of orbs you can acquire on your character. They are basically temporary buffs. Frenzy (which is associated with dex), power (int), and endurance (str). They offer different advantages and interact with certain skills. I don't know much about the others, but frenzy is pretty alright. It gives you attack speed and physical damage. One of the skills it interacts with is flicker strike. If you flicker strike while you have frenzy orbs, it will consume one of the orbs and cancel the cooldown of flicker strike. Basically, if you can maintain frenzy and utilize flicker strike you can instantly flash around to different enemies and slice them up. It is pretty dope, but I had a hard time maintaining frenzy orbs as they don't last very long (10 seconds at base) and frenzy (which gives you one orb for every successful attack) isn't nearly as strong as dual strike or offer AoE the way cleave does.

So this is the build I have in mind for my marauder:

http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgEBAecCcQSzBS0JlgsoDjwOchQgFvkYkRkuG1IhAiFVIhskiyUnJyAn7Si1KQcpLilPKvYyCTNANDE08ja6Nug5DjpSOtg7jD0PQKBDeUSyRY5KLlBHUFBUkVUdVgRYY1nzXQBdSV8_YIhhUmMLZqBnm26Xdu57jHy7hmCIOIiPjM-O9JMHlwGcJ52Kns2fy6CdoRunMKelqRqpc6yqreSvc7UEt3K5Q705wBrALsT2xYrG2MbnyWfRNdSP1YvZotw93pbfv-Qi6hjrCew47UTuFO9O8B_ynPZI9777i_yJ

Basically, I'm focusing on staff, life leech, and stun/knockbacks. I don't know how this will handle survivability at harder difficulties, since I pretty much ignored all +armor stats (except for Armor Mastery for the +move speed), but I picked up Blood Magic, Blood Drinker, and several regen and +health nodes to make up for defense. Staff also should have a high %block with all the staff nodes picked. Thoughts?

I wanted to pick up Fending as well, but ran out of points. If anyone sees something I can cut out to pick up the extra five points, let me know!

Foxx,

Uninstall any virus protection programs you have. Run a windows defender fullscan. Disable unnecessary startup programs through msconfig.

I have no antivirus programs installed.

The problem comes from lack of RAM and few tweaks I've made to my PC.

Since I use SSD for my games and OS, I've moved all my temp files and caches to a partition on my RAM. That partition is 3 GB big. With windows and chrome running I have 4 GB in total that are busy. Once I spend 3-4 hours playing PoE, it drops me out of the game with an error message saying "insufficient RAM" and my Chrome browser crushes as well.

That thing happens because I've forbidden the caching on my hard drive so when I go out of RAM, everything crashes due to lack of memory. It's a small risk I willing took in return for the huge performance boost by this setup (my PC boots in 14 seconds).

I've never had such problem until now, but I don't usually run many RAM intensive tasks.

That being said, I've dealt with the problem by decreasing my RAM partition to 1.5 GB. It never really uses more than 500 MBs anyway.

Now on topic: ACT 3 is intense. I am rank 36 now.

I wish more of you guys played on the European server.

PS. Dey you homo, what is your user?

I run 8 gigs and never more then 3ish is in use while playing the game with firefox & vent running....

You should have a problem with ram unless you only have 2 gigs avail...

EDIT. There is more to the problem if the game continues to use more and more ram as you play... atleast enough to crash you.

EDIT. My computers boots in that much time with far fewer tweaks... just a simple OS boot the SSD & removal of pre tests and boot up screens. Having a hard time wrapping my head around why you would need to go through all that.

EDIT. Also you could just redirect your caching to another HD... not like you would notice much of a difference.

So it looks like staves have int requirements as well as strength. Tweaked my build some to give me 114 INT at max level, enough to use any staff in the game. Also squeezed in Fending by shaving off some stun duration and +2 HP drain per hit.
