Learning class

I think a cleric would be good, they're near unkillable if they're spells are up as long as you can run abit, they give you a semi wide range of approaches to combat so you can try different things and experiment with different tactics and because they can't reliably lag( i know evil clerics get minister) it helps you work on your chasing skills. Theres others but i've always loved my communers for exploration/learning.

Its been said a lot that DKs are exceptional PK learning characters. I also feel good about paladins for learning. The fact that both classes can utilize fairly high level melee, afflictives, and utilize consumables such as scrolls allows you to sample numerous parts of the game. DKs also dictate spell maintenance, while paladins demand both chasing and tactical skill timing. They are both able to have a fairly diverse roles in parties, going from tank to damage dealer to a supportish role.

would def stick with half casters or ranger. half casters like dk palis even a ninja will allow you to detect most people until you learn the consumables, dish out damage with spells and still have decent melee. depending on race/combo/align you want to go you could also have decent defense while you learn to gear yourself.

Good clerics are the best-rounded class in the game.

Very good offense, best chasing, and near-best evasion. Doesn't need EQ and immune to spells as well as resistant to melee. Decent melee as well. Can't be matched by much of anything if played correctly, evil clerics included. They aren't exactly a difficult class to play either.

Only weakness is against rogues, which tend to be rare. This weakness isn't a bane either.

Was wondering what would be the best we'll rounded class for pk? Tactics is what I have he biggest problem with.. Any ideas would be appriciated

If you think tactics are your primary area where learning is needed, over say, chasing, I'd say take a DK for a spin. I say this because DKs are very much a class where your battle tactics will change based upon the opponent you're facing, but not to a monk-like degree where the wrong stance leaves you with little chance for survival. Good warriors will require different strategies than paladins, who will require different strategies than neutral/evil Syndis/etc.

Invokers are great for learning how to react quickly during PK and how not to spam spells. Clerics/paladins are great for learning how to survive. Bmgs are great for learning spell management, rangers for learning pet management (among other things) before trying a necro, neutral giant melee WMs are great for getting practice at keeping your cool/avoiding the shakes/testing tactics. But if it's tactical flexibility you want, go for a DK - among all the base classes, I'd say they have the most versatility for the fewest corresponding weaknesses.

A MERCHANT is NOT a good class to learn pk with. As with HERALDs, Merchants should usually not initiate pk unless provoked.

I still will say the best cabals to learn pk are WM and Syndicate, compare my other post, compare also in regards to class selection.
