This is a hard fought decision, but I have made up my mind. I am retiring him, please deny.

Shout-outs: So, so fricking many to give, please don't be upset if I do not mention you, as I am remarkably terrible with names.

-Vikatimees: Slowly but surely, you grew and grew. You never were much for rp, or in the least, talking with me. You have a great weight coming upon your shoulders and I think you are the perfect person for the job.

-Hepheus: I was ecstatic the first time we interacted, I always makes you feel great when your cabal imm pops in and starts interacting with you. I have heard things have kept you away from the game, but I hope you continue with your enthusiasm and fun spirit.

- Zoichan: As a player, I was excited to have you on board, you were a pk beast. Unfortunately we were in opposition, but I enjoyed the back and forth of it all.

- Warmasters: I wish things could have ended on better terms with us, as a priest of Tongar, I had hoped to earn some measure of your respect (along with dueling you) however a few circumstances arose that got in the way. I do not take any of it personally, and have enjoyed all our interactions.

-Tribunal: Climbing the ranks was enjoyable, being King certainly had its perks, but I wish I could have made a bigger splash. I trust you all to carry forward and protect the innocent.

This was my first cabal leader (thank you again Hepheus) and I learned a lot from the experience. I have a Char Sheet from when I was at my peak, pretty sweet if you ask me:

With all the right gear and all that, they are definitely powerhouses. I tend to get a little careless from time to time but I certainly did a decent showing in my opinion. I do like the spell-level eq changes made for both good and evil, even though it hurt me, I still felt competitive. Not sure they need any rebalancing as far as skills/spells. I certainly recognize a few open holes that can send a cleric running, which is good for balance. Giants especially.

What holes would those be?

Dispel magic is much more effective against a giant cleric than a non-giant cleric due to their mental vuln, which makes certain tactics much more viable than those you would use against a dwarf cleric.

Good clerics in my opinion are pretty well balanced and great as a first class to learn the game with considering their survivability and ability to escape pk. Depending on what you are playing as a combo, there are options you have to use against a good cleric, and some are surprisingly more effective than others (Garacci).

I can see how Garacci would be a problem with his damage output, but dispel magic is easily avoided with spell turning. The only hole I see in that aspect if your mana as a storm giant.

But it's been years since I've played a cleric:biggrin: Hey new smilies!

Very hard to drop if it's mastered. If it's dropped, you shouldn't be sticking around in combat. Should be ready to flee the moment it does, so that you don't get dispelled-f***** or get the flee/sleep by necros, or curse/minister by other clerics.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: don't spam, and spell turning is a life saver.

I was waiting for this. I was sparse for about two months, but always checking in. I wanted to see how my Leader would do without me constantly visible and directing things. Good character, or you never would have made it so far. Leader of Tribunal is one of the hardest spots to get. So well done, dissapointed to see you deny rather than just finishing him out. There is some good competition rising, and it doesn't take long to take quite a few deaths if you are doing your job as a tribunal.

Even with a mastered spell turning, spell turning can be dropped in three rounds or less, assuming no lag. It should not take more than three casts of a single target low lag spell against the cleric, personally I like faerie fire because it is so damn cheap and if it is reflected, not to big of a deal. I have done this across many characters against many variations of clerics and found success.

It should have a cooldown between recasts imo. I've always felt that way, and cleric is one of my fav classes, so I'm not saying it just to be that guy. I've pinned at LEAST 5 different clerics, and it's just bogus a guy can shut down entire classes by flee and recasting a single spell over and over.

I agree. It doesn't make the cleric unstoppable perse, but it can certainly make them literally unkillable if they consistently flee immediately and recast. Assuming they will dance away when they've taken moderate damage, and heal re-prep on the go, then they're an unstoppable wall/mountain (no matter the race size). :P

Just keep in mind that three rounds of shooting low cost spells against a cleric means three rounds of eating damage/affects FROM the cleric as well. It doesn't take many rounds for a cleric to hurt you very bad or for the cleric to recover from their own wounds.

It should also be noted that trying to land that key spell AFTER dropping the spell-turning is always risky, as a chase-cast scenario doesn't always give time to see if the cleric has recast it already, potentially hitting and lagging yourself.

Spell-turning effectively allows clerics to completely ignore buffing their saves (because they are immune to all non-area spells), allowing them to exclusively buff other stats which is a very powerful equipment advantage over other classes without much downside (just spell management).

As Covarrubias vs some of these clerics, he probably had an easier time than most dropping the spell. However it only made the battle more frustrating. I'd spend time dropping spell turning to have them flee and recast. I drop again, they repeat again. Eventually they'd decide to get away (most likely due to mana problems) moreso than anything else. So you can kinda imagine how boring the battle can be. I can't help but wonder how much more difficult it can be for other classes that have a more troublesome time fighting against spell turning.

Gosh I hated fighting Covarrubias as Bregendip. Unfortunately Invokers are one of the best classes to use against a cleric, and you certainly torched many of my possessions and me a few times. Even my one tactic just could not quite get you down far enough :(

I have cabal left and sacrificed all the rares I could (one item I had trouble getting the curse off of).
