pets in the arena.

Also, pets sometimes stay in the arena after you're victorious (or if you are defeated), which means you and others can't enter that particular arena room again, unless you nofol.

I found this mainly to be the case with DKs who had their charm person dispelled by the wight, and had no control over their charmie, which would sit around in the arena until an Imm removed it or a world shift happened.

I didn't say it was trouble for the DK' date=' but as the pet can't be summoned out, or removed in any way other than worldshift or Immortal intervention, the DK becomes trouble for everyone else who wants to use the arena.[/quote']

Those DKs, always finding new ways to annoy the rest of us... ;)

Nah, misunderstood you originally.

Tag those created pets on summon code junkies! :D

would be nice if the zombies received unique tagging when created for many reasons. Summoning by the player especially.

Crab could become Crabzombie instead of just zombie.

so that way the player can summon their pets by the original name, instead off 1.zombie, 2.zombie scheme which really fails currently.

Would love this.

I was thinking something like we give a necro's created pets some kind of special tag, making them able to be summoned by a command line like "c summon 1.myzombie". I mean, the necro is linked to their creations, sustaining them through magic - even with two crab zombies in the game, a necro should be able to innately tell which zombie is theirs and which is not.

add a name tag to the summon that goes like this:

(zombiename)(necroname)

So you can 'ca summon crabkurvi' or 'ca summon gigantickurvi' to get kurvikhel's crab zombie

No change to the zombie's short, so it'll still look like 'a zombie of a gigantic crab'

Don't need to worry about multiples with the same name as the same necro can only have one of one kind of zombie now...

Also don't need to worry about bugs resulting from having a pfile name the same as a mob's name

this is beautiful, and easy to implement.

This has already been implemented. We're talking about preventing progs from leaving them behind' date=' here..[/quote']

wait, I can summon zombies, and order them to do things, using a character based tag that has a unique mob name too?

what is the format?

You'll probably want the player name in the back to avoid targeting issues and the many odd problems of having player names that are contained in the beginning of mob names. These are zombies and pets (ranger too!), not decoys :D. Just don't forget to reverse it on uncharm for DKs. There are similar problems with quest gives and decoys which could be cleaned up at the same time, syntax-wise.

I think there are some problems with prog transfers in general, so I'd dig that way. You could just add a few lines to the group transfer function to specifically link up the summons to the owner (using the new syntax) if originating room vnums match up. It isn't perfect, but may be a workaround until the deeper issues can be found.

Doing it by mob.player zombie also lets the player type less to order their pets.

Order traven sit

Rather than...

Order korropant.traven sit.

Just a thought really, more quality of life than anything in this respect.

The issue with which pet your ordering, and conflicts locally would only occur if two necros with the same zombie are in the same room. At which point of course the usual order, and need to add the player name portion would become neccesary.
