Pffft. It's not people liking my characters man. I play good characters. I'd like to think I'm a very decent RPer and PKer. But, it's taking this game too personally that kills me. ALways has, always will.

Second, Dharg, admit it. You called him out because you thought you did enough to get in and didn't. Not incredibly smart. Why not write him a note in game asking what you might do to earn his trust? Why bring things like this here? Word to the wise, everyone, deal with this cabal stuff in game.

Third, as far as egos go, there are PLENTY around here. So many that no one shows any respect for any IMM. Zero. Not one of you would pop off to any former IMP the way some of you do. Hell, I know I wouldn't have. Then, when one of you asks a question and we answer it with a response you don't like, you call us liars. Or slackers. Or something else equally snooty. I've given you all lots of praise for a lot of things. I still maintain that we have some of the best PKers and RPers in any MUD, hands down. And you know what? It's all gone to your heads (most of you). If things aren't going the way you (in your omniscience) believe they should, sure, pick a fight with the IMM staff and then cry on and on about how good the old days were and how the staff just beats you down and how you'd better "shut up so I can stay here" when if you behaved with the smallest ounce of maturity, dignity, and common sense your presence here would never be in question. But all of you seem to have a compulsive need to "fight the Man" or push the IMMs' buttons or whatever the hell you have going on.

Fourth, so you haven't been let into a cabal yet...big deal. Have you somehow lost the ability to RP and play the game? Have you hit a wall with your advancement? I think part of the problem here is that everyone is sitting around thinking up the "power combo to f***in' pwn" instead of, like WC is always johhny on the spot to point out, what you think would be fun. And then go with it. React to the game's ups and downs like you do in real life. That's RP. You ARE your character. If your app is denied, two-thirds of you delete and bail. Why?!? It's just a turn in your life. If you get turned down for a job, do you go play in traffic? If a girl/guy rejects you, is it time for a cyanide cocktail? WTF?!?

Lastly, Dharg, seriously, the IMMs have noticed a change in your play. At least, we haven't had to catch you doing anything illegal and ban you for quite some time. I'm not saying that to piss you off, but to say, yeah, we notice these things. But in all truth, you are still you and you still go out of your way at times to pick a fight. Why? I don't know. But if this discussion began differently than "Malchaeius is a problem and hates me and won't let me in Nexus because he's not letting people in because he's lazy/not doing his job/an *******" [paraphrased translation mine], the other thread could have gone a whole entirely different direction. Or better yet, if you took it up in game and RPed it, you would have totally made yourself visible to him and probably would have gained some kudos.

As I have stated in the pictures thread, if people want a picture posted they need to email it to the given address, and then notify me in here via pm. And as explained, the notifying me through pms is because I don't check that other email address regularly. Now seeing how this hasn't happened, I don't believe anyone has submitted a picture to me yet, and that being the case pestering me about it isn't going to magically produce more pictures, I do not control the picture submissions. If you feel that we don’t have enough pictures, then you get on the players cases about it, because I’m not going to. It’s their choice, I offer a means to if they wish, and I have offered myself up to be an open target as incentive to post (I have submitted pictures of my big forehead, my large ears, my uneven eyelids, my doofy smile, my very noticeable skinniness, a video of me getting my *** kicked and yes, even a few glimpses of my thinning hair in hopes that people who are more shy about there own self image will see a doof like me and submit), outside that I’m really not going pester people for pictures anymore, we’ve got a good stock up there and I am happy with it.

Now if you want to just sit back and make small talk, still seeings how you are not a member of the gamming community anymore, and that I just really find that you and I mesh like George W and a Library, you’ll not get much from me.

Hrmm.. I don't know what else to say. I guess I was in a similar situation some years ago. Felt like I was the punching bag of half the IMM staff which was quite strange as some of the ones that were beating me used to have great respect for me, and I had great respect for them. The IMM's are real people, they do have real feeling, so yes, I would believe that perhaps one would hold a grudge against you. Ages ago I started playing through a proxy to hide my identity, as it was getting rediculous. My characters started getting slain for study **** like the use of the word 'Okay' and in the cause of Ambryr/Rathe, who I used to get along with well, noting to imm about a character, that ended up being his, about something that I THOUGHT was illegal but, but quite obviously I was mistaken.

Bryntryst always seemed to have a vendetta against me. I saw good quality app after app get rejected, and saw demons that when I killed would say some queer arse OOC bullcrap to me. I kept thumpin my head against the wall, wondering what the fark I was doing wrong. Then there was also that other imm that was a demon class. Cant remember the name of the player anymore. He used to **** me off in any way he could possibly find, god knows why, perhaps I killed one of his chars too much, perhaps it was because he was fairly good friends with Despiser over AIM, and we were always at loggerheads over one thing or another, I don't know, and quite frankly, now adays I don't give a crap.

Since I have returned, in the limited hours I've had to play I've tried to do something different, play something I haven't played, try to mix my char up a bit and have some solid background that I can build on and have fun with. I've haven't just picked myself a 'power combo' and gone on a PK spree. Infact I've not killed many people at all (think i've grown a bit too compassionate over time, I feel bad killing people nowadays, possibly bad for the combo I play).

My opinions for you Dharg. Ditch AIM, how often do people see me on AIM anymore? Basically never, all it does it build a groupy atmosphere. When I very first started here I knew noone that played, minus my school mate who introduced me, and soon after, Lay-About when he started playing (School mates cousin, and another of my school mates brother, who lived in the same town as me). I had the most enjoyment back then. I was rewarded for what I did, not who I knew, and I didn't have to worry about who I killed, if they were someone I knew, if it'd hurt they're feelings, would they talk to me anymore, etc etc etc.

Secondly, make something that you will think will be fun, not the most powerful mofo character you can think of. Try to keep the character you play on the lowdown, play through a proxy if you must to keep your identity hidden. You'll find if you don't harp on as much, you wont draw as much negative attention, and you'll get more things that you want.

I hate to say it, but IMM's do hold grudges if you piss them off. So you have two options, piss them off and don't let them know who you play, or dont piss them off. I find the second option to be alot easier, allows me to play freely, not have to go stupid to conceal myself, etc etc. I can come to the forum and post freely, I don't have to use proxies just so I don't get shafted.

I was in the exact same situation as you mate, over 2 yrs I've just learnt to let it slide. I hold no grudges against those who used to treat me like **** and I expect that they don't hold them against me.

Hope I can say this in honesty and perfect CONSTRUCTIVE critism, but I hope the rest of the imms dont' feel this way. Raargant made an offhand comment like this. I know I don't have to put up with the crap you guys do, but I really hope some of the good players lighten your day enough for you guys to not get a huge negative view about the playerbase. We have had immortals, immortal staffs, who were completely like that, and admitted it. As much as you may feel you are being disrespected, I think you all, as a staff, get more praise than any former staff has ever gotten. I see more props to imms, and thanks to the imms then I ever have since I've ever been there, so I think your statement is a little vague.

As for you Zrothum. I've been here since you started. Seen you do some pretty poor crap. But then again, I've seen the BEST players and BEST RP'ers, who hold some of the greatest respect, do even worse. I know IMMS, current and past, who have done worse then you as well. But, people move on, and grow. They mature and begin playing how it should be played. You'll end up getting over the way you are, and realize 'admitting' your problem doesn't fix it, and you'll be back.

People will always think back to 1.0-2.0. Why? Because thats when people had their best memories, thats when they had something significant come into play. I started playing in 1.0. Played for like a week and quit. I didn't come back till LATE 2.0 and early 3.0. And my best memories are from 2.0-3.0. And guess what? Under the current staff. Val Miran destruction and all that jazz. It was fun. Normal people will remember the 'good' days rather than be depressed and just remember the bad. You're a good staff, though sometimes people won't agree with you. And you know what? Thats kewl. Look at my idea. Grim Reefer basically said its dumb and I should get banned for even having a thought like that. Whether he was joking or not, he gave no signs of joking. I was positive about it and no flame war happened. Festy is right, you guys get a crapton load of praise for everything you do. And if you want MORE, then hell. Just go to a place that will kiss your boot for just being an Imm. For you to even say that you are disrespected SO much only says that you don't pay attention to the pbase as much as you think you do.

I have no need for bootlicking, butt kissing, ego stroking, hero worship, or the like. That wasn't my point at all.

My point was that we, the staff, are here for the players and the game. We want to be here, or we simply wouldn't. We didn't let FL disappear off into the distance because we didn't want it to. We don't hate any of you, no matter how much you push us to the brink at times. Obviously, you won't agree with us all the time. No one in any situation agrees 100% of the time. It is the manner and frequency in which many of you disagree that leads me to doubt the sincerity of your praises at times. I refuse to be so gauche as to name names and call people out, but some of you, honestly, complain about EVERYTHING. Up, down, north, south, doesn't matter. IMMs say it, you're against it. And the snarkier the comments, the better it seems. Others of you seem to believe it's all a grand conspiracy...we IMMs hate you and we've magically done something either to your character to make them suck, or we've magically done something to your opponents since you can't seem to win. So you tell us about it in the most condescending, rudest ways possible. The majority of you are just here, going about playing the game like thousands have before you.

Now, Iyorvin and BKW...you both bring up my post as an indicator of something you hope the IMMs don't feel? We don't want worship, we just want to be treated like the friends you hope we treat you as. I'm sorry Virigoth left. I'll never replace him. I've never TRIED to replace him. I couldn't replace him. I'm not Crypt. I can't be. I'm not, Malch's not, Behrens isn't either. None of us are them. We can't be them. We haven't tried to be them. All random props aside, Iyorvin, both you and BKW can see that we don't get treated the way IMPs are to be treated. I'm not talking about asskissing. NONE of us talked to Viri the way Zrothum talked to Malch. Or the way several of you have talked to me. Or Behrens.

I'm not asking to have my ego stroked. I just hope some of you think about the IMM staff standing in the long shadow cast by icons like Viri and Crypt and cut us some slack. None of you have any idea the pressure to try and not lose your mind when everyone screams for you to "fix" their "game" and when you do, you get told it's wrong and you liked it better when it was broken. There's no need to call us out and fight us on every issue, all the time, 24/7. Give us an ounce of the respect you gave Viri and Crypt and just think about how you sound when you post. I don't want to be the a**hole on the forum who edits posts and makes long-winded disertations like this. I'd rather make fun of people who play faeries and smart off.
