Weapon choice for Zerk.

I go for axes as well, because thoise are used mostly for the dam/hurt output- just my two cents, I usually only use a polearm vs. rangers and warriors- even though at times a shield axe/flail combo could work. flails could be very nice depending on a race combo.

Race and cabal are huge influences

Trib: axe or flail

nexus: axe or polearm

wm: mace, sword, flail

Watcher: flail or polearm

syndicate: probably polearm

Race plays a larger point too.

goodie: love swords here. Bastard, the new heron marked

demon killer. Many easy to get and very viable choices

Neut: forgemans hammer, power hammer, hells fury, demon claws

evil: soulblight, storm/mournblade, blood filled voulge, reaver

Too manu factors. I say h2h.

Axe/Flail is the best for general purpose, except opting for cursed polearm vs melee, except blademasters, who would still dual wield against.

To go further into it, Rib of Shudde M'ell and Gasteride's flail are what i'd hunt for first, and obviously Blazing Baridache or Hell's Fury for polearms.

I'd save your power expertise until you've been at 50 long enough to know who your biggest threats are, so you're not selecting a weapon that you won't be using in the fights that matter most. If you don't have the patience for that, I normally would opt for polearms.

Axe/flail is better damage output and cleaving chance. Pole arm is more defensive. You use pole arm on those that out melee you and dual wield against those that don't. Axes have a good chance of being an unknown weapon vs ppl you dual wield against. And they are fantastic for cleaving, which is a bread and butter zerk skill.

Though, you are 100% right for fury zerks.

Hey,

Weapons that are 'unknown' to your opponent beat parry/dual parry. They don't work so well on shield block though - and many of your fights as a zerk will be against clerics. Higher weapon proficiency is you're best bet here IMHO. Exotics with 116% are good for this. Note that the higher proficiency doesn't help defense, only offense. So the defender can't take advantage of this.

Polearms (as discussed) for the times you need more defense. With the bardiche in play you already get +% in the weapon. If you add your weapon expert to this you get a nice boost in the fights you will probably need it in the most (warriors, rangers, dks and vampires).

PS - this is generally speaking. Certain race/cabal synergies open other doors with weapon selection by allowing stupidly high proficiency with other weapons.
