ledgerbay
Been playing for years, and have NEVER had any success with pk. In my conclusion I suck, and see no reason to continue putting myself through the emmense anger of feeling like fodder to the rest of the Pbase. Suffering deaths on two toons within the same day, I dont think I see any reason to think I will ever be any good at the other half of this game. NOT A FLAME not blaming anyone I just suck. Implementor Anume Posted November 26, 2013 Implementor Report Share Posted November 26, 2013 There are numerous threads on newbie help wich give advise to those willing to learn how to pk. In the end it comes down to fight a lot, log your fights, post the logs, ask for advise.

Imoutgoodbye
Valek' date=' let him fight you a few times. I am sure that will give him the confidence boost he needs.[/quote'] You know, I'd put you at the top of my PK list if you weren't already there. But, back on topic, I've improved immensely over the last month. I can see a difference. You can, too! Actually, I recall baptizing this fellow named Deykari...he could tell you a thing or two about feeling like a stomped on bunny and then becoming a PK monster. In all seriousness, it's entirely contextual, fight by fight, and there are basics for each fight, but I think the number one rule is if you get close to 50% health, book it on out of there. f0xx couldn't catch me if I didn't want him to. EDIT: Oh, and never fight if you aren't "prepared". By prepared, I mean, if you have less than 15 vials, need detect invis potions, need protection scrolls/potions...armor/shield/stoneskin/flesh armor... Implementor Anume Posted November 26, 2013 Implementor Report Share Posted November 26, 2013 You have to edit out anything that is qstuff related as well as cabal skills higher than T level. If in doubt, leave it in and ask us when you submit the log on prayer. If it is ok, we'll post it.
ledgerbay
I ABSOLUTELY dont want to sound errogant or anything, But I know all the things I should do and the "rules" of pk, I just cant ever seem to pull it off, or even get away when i try to get out of a bad PK. I am not angry or bitter, I just cant help but find it futile to keep on doing the same thing, Definition of Insanity and all.

Implementor Anume Posted November 26, 2013 Implementor Report Share Posted November 26, 2013 Ledger, I really suggest you post some logs, you can edit in comments from you if you like. Either for the imms only to look at or for posting, I guarantee you that you WILL be given some good advise and that you will learn from looking at the logs again alone, but moreso from the comments of others. Seriously, though, seeing the way you, M (sorry, I'll get your name eventually, coder guy), and Volgathras have bent over backwards to try to help me, the least I can do is filter it properly. mya
You have to edit out anything that is qstuff related as well as cabal skills higher than T level. I guess you are right Kyz. We are now allowed to discuss cabal powers bellow elder. Anyway, Anume just gave me a great idea. Why don't we change the PK Logs section from Imm only posting to the way Shotouts work. We post our logs already edited, and all the imms have to do is approve if they don't see anything wrong. With the new titles on PK logs, it's easy to see if the characters involved are non Q-stuff and non-Elder, which would mean a Imm would not even to scan the log for Qstuff. One of the things that old network54 forum allowed was easy PK log analisys. We have been missing this for quite some time. And log studying is the best way to learn mistakes. Let me give you some advice. Fight. Do not run. I know there are dozens of people that will argue with this advice, oh well. If you lose bout one, copy and paste the log. Do not worry about reading it right then. Go fight the same person again, try a new tactic. Copy and paste. After the third fight two wonderful things will happen. First, you will see either a pattern for success, or a pattern of failure, either way you gain a clue on how to win bout four. The second thing, you will earn the respect of the player behind the character you are fighting. They may even give you some advice for the future. As an example, Mister E and I went several rounds most recently. When I found the pattern for success our bouts became lengthy and close. In the past I have had similar good fortune dealing with others using this avenue. Do not give up, and to quote one of my favorite players here "You can run, but you will only die tired." FIGHT! Iyorvin
Ledger's right though. After a break when I come back my hands are shaky, my toes are curling, my knees and arms shaking, sometimes I'm sweaty. The thing is..............get drunk. Real drunk. Know you have nothing to lose. Make something in a pk cabal with cabal outfit and make damn sure you got some cp to burn. Next you want to fight and fight and fight, while you keep drinking. Eventually execution will come. I'm half an idiot minus some, but when I get comfortable I tend to execute well. Execution and speed are two of the biggest traits of a strong pk'er. Deykari
I agree with Iyorvin but without the getting drunk part. Learn not to give a **** and just fight. Don't treat your character like a throwaway piece of trash you don't care about but by the same token don't be afraid to experiment with your tactics - fear of loss of equipment can be a barrier here. I used to just fight for the sake of it, often regardless of how I was equipped (provided I had at least basics) and I picked up a lot of lessons through dying 4-5 times in a single play session against the same opponent even if I didn't get a kill. Being decked and taking a full loot, especially if done easily can be demotivating, but if you log out then you won't learn. Stick around, equip a bit and fight again... and again... and each time try to spot your own mistakes or opportunities where you could capitalise on theirs. Sure, you'll probably die a few more times, but you'll soon improve through practice. Persistence. Next time you fight that opponent with your full equipment you'll have a lesson or two under your belt. Dey

Next time you fight that opponent with your full equipment you'll have a lesson or two under your belt. Dey I'm with Deykari on this, but I'd recommend sticking to Moderate. Making sure you don't lose too much equipment, keeps re-equipping easier (class dependent) because sometimes the only difference between you and your opponent is the equipment. Being able to stay in the fight for four to six rounds without being knocked down to half health is essential. That coming back again and again thing, whether or not you die, is what needs to keep happening. PK Cabal: Iyorvin has an excellent point here, especially in combination with Moderate. The Warmaster cabal, for example, offers great cabal equipment. It's all non-rare. This means you get some great equipment and it can't be taken from you...unless an invoker happens to be in Savant...then you can lose quite a bit without reinforcing it. I could have con-deathed my DK, but, pride won't let me con-death a class I've been in love with since day one, the class that made me go "WHOAH!" and next to the idea of one day have a vampire, kept me here. It's also the one class that requires I get good at PK. It's all about the malform, since day one. It's going to take me a while. I won't lie. I'm not good at this. I've been gone close to a year from playing. Those shakes and sweats you get from going up against PK'ers here, knowing how good they are, knowing how smart the players on the other end are when it comes to strategy...it gets a little intimidating. It was probably after I'd taken my 12th death, the shakes finally started going away. Also, mudding drunk...FUN!!! Deykari used to do it all the time. Don't let him fool you.
