I would like to point out the absolute first skill any successful PKer in FL ever mastered was running. If your memorizing gear, desolation, dischord, all the hidden quests, Memorizing the stats on each piece of gear, what mob normally holds it, what player currently holds it etc etc is all useful, but it is not going to make you live long enough for any of that information to come into play. I recently started playing my old BMG again.

PK Survival rule #1:

Never stay in a fight you did not start. Get out, regroup, and start when YOU are ready. If you do not feel you are ready for demanding, in your face aggression, maybe hold off on joining a cabal. These blasted things, while a great deal of fun, literally give your enemies a "dinner bell" in which to force you to fight. Most people feel you HAVE to join a cabal at 50, but I assure you learning to exist @ 50 is far more important than being Trusted. Espescially when your just going to get frustrated and delete/shelve.

You need to be able to feel comfortable in any situation with a class. Know your strategy, know your vulnerabilities, plan for the fact that those vulns will be exploited by anyone who knows how. You need to plan for those eventualities, and how to react to them. Your a halfling thief? Bet your gonna stock up on venom sacks, and as much AC gear as you can. Fire Giant Cleric? Bet your stocking up on Mugworts, and curative items, so you can save your mana for buffs, and combat. If your not doing these things, you should sit down, and figure out EVERY advantage you can eek out of a character, and do so. Saying "Well I guess this dagger will do for now" is unacceptable. If you can get/do better, you should be doing it.

The cookie is a lie. So is the cake. The W in PK for the bad PK'er is also a lie. There are too many people better prepared, better equipped, more knowledgeable...

Ledger, roll a thief and never let anyone see you, ever. Survive. Steal. Die to a Syndicate occasionally, but you'll see what kills everyone the most is loss of gear. Just pry, drop, sac, rinse, and repeat. See how long the great PK'ers want to stick around when you've destroyed their backpacks, armor, and weapons. :P

Sirenia-The Other Side

And, Ledger, you should know everyone has a counter answer for everything said, A counter tactic for every tactic. Peyton Manning couldn't call the audible at the line of scrimmage before an FL linebacker sacked him, the whistle will never blow, and the play will end before it starts.

On a side note...ill b giving running lessons to anyone who needs it. U run i chase. U get away u get a cookie

I'll give any Mort 50 bucks on paypal that can catch me or even have me on where after 45 seconds of me fleeing. No one can catch someone in this game that knows how to run properly. Map is way too big.

And that is why you will NEVER learn to PK. Unless you change your attitude. An attitude that rotates around the "I lose PKs because my EQ sucks" doesn't lead to improving your skills. It leads to finding an excuse why you lost a PK and why to not ever bother with learning the skills needed to be a successful PKer.

I learned the most PK wise when I admitted to myself that I sucked in it, and that it was not the EQ difference that is killing me.

"And that is why"

You want to talk about EQ not making a difference, whatever. If EQ didn't make a difference, there wouldn't be a Journeyman option available. That point aside, I'm talking about demoralizing people the way people demoralize others. Semantics is all that's at play here when we talk about the difference between player and character.

I'll roll a thief, I'll take the EQ, and we'll see who bothers sticking around when they realize killing me doesn't get their stuff back because what I did was sac everything I took. THAT'S what happens to people who get PK'ed, get frustrated, and leave. THAT'S what's demoralizing for people who simply don't have the time to sink in. EQ makes you competitive or everyone wouldn't want the best ****ing EQ in the game.

If equipment didn't matter, Moderate Tier wouldn't be offered a Journeyman flag. Journeyman should simply be automatic with Moderate Tier. Moderate Tier, much like the Herald cabal, is a joke. No one's worried about a Moderate and the only time anyone's worried about a Herald is if they're attacking people (which they can't because Herald's not a real cabal anyways) or if they're wearing too much nice equipment because apparently that's abuse of DI. Which, that wouldn't matter if EQ didn't matter, right?

Give me a break. Everything keeps coming around to be hypocritical. Anyways, I'm off to class and won't be back until about twelve hours from now. Long day.

Um, no Valek, just no.

1) DI cannot be abused any longer. It now has a duration and a timer about twice as long as the duration. Never prevented syndi from collecting bounties, either.

2) Heralds can attack people, most just choose not to. There have been a few aggressive Heralds before.

3) Other people can attack Heralds, most just choose not to.

3) Moderate tier is fantastic. It helps eliminate the gear dependence for anyone willing to fight without EQ and be calm and analytical about death.

4) Moderate and Journeyman shouldn't be automatic. Moderate doesn't mean bad at PK, it means "moderate". Not everyone wants to play the EQ game, even some vets.

5) EQ doesn't make you competitive, it is just min-maxing. If you get a full set of "second-rate" rares, you will see that there is very little difference in many of the pieces.

6) Being rude does not get your point across.

What are you talking about?

I never said EQ doesn't matter.

What I am saying is, you put too much importance on EQ, and when you die, you blame not having EQ for your death. This is not a constructive way to look at things.

But w/e. What do I know after all....

It's just that people who usually blame EQ for their deaths in FL are the people who blame other people in RL for their own mistakes.

What I am trying to get you to understand is that your actions in a PK matter more than what you are wearing. By not acknowledging this, you will never improve yourself, because EQ comes and goes. Skill noone can loot from you.

Yes, EQ gives you an edge, but if your CORE sucks, you might just cut yourself.

I suck too man, just find a class you ENJOY playing. the truth is, as long as you are fun doing your thing- it doesn't matter if you die. I've known you on a couple chars and man- you are a blast. Like Morl said, apply for something, or go mod. I had a MOD zerk ogre once and it was the ****. anyways, keep your chin up hooker

Apply for journeyman it will help you a ton. I did once and it really did improve my time with that particular character. And honestly there are tons here that know your class inside and out and will offer you help: imms, vets, etc. I play new combos a lot just to experiment and every person I have EVER pm'd on this forum has helped me even if I have never spoken to them I have gotten completely positive responses. You would be shocked at how much information I was given IG by even those very cabal enemies I fought. For the vast majority of this pbase there is no evil motives to ruin anyone's fun. They like you come to this world to escape and enjoy their time as whatever lifeform tickles their fancy, not to say mwahaha I shall destroy all and ruin everyones day just because I can. You joined a cabal thats going through a rebuilding phase so its going to be tough, but honestly if you stick it out through the hard times you will learn so much. I wish I had done that with Aithne.
