First step is not to win but not to die. As a cleric they should never really be able to kill you (unless perhaps as a shaman or vampire). If you are at half health and they are not, recall. If you can see, flee and gate. Get out of there, try something else. As a cleric you can't outmelee them just standing there or even worse healing in battle (well unless you're Anamus and superdecked ;) ).

So, you need to attain the next level of pk prowess. Not to die.

Edit: even caballed this does work. Defending does not mean dying. So if you lose, get out of there. Later kill the enemy altar if they have your standard and get out of there again. This can even be very frustrating for your opponent.

yes I have used an outfit' date=' and then orchuga killed me without me even hitting him. then told me I was hardly worth killing.[/quote']

Here's the best advice I can give.

Orchuga didn't tell YOU that YOU were hardly worth killing. Orchuga told YOUR CHARACTER that HE/SHE was hardly worth killing. Don't take it personally. I've only started to really enjoy my chars once I separated myself from them. I try to NEVER relate something or speak about IG topics in the first person. I always use "he/she" or my-char-name's actions. That way I can enjoy without feeling personally assaulted by IG behaviors.

Now, take what Orchuga said and think about how your character should respond when treated that way. Will he/she be angry? Will he/she not care what an evil, dumb, ugly ogre says and ignore it? Will he/she seek retribution and prove his/her worth?

That's up to you. That's where the roleplay really starts to happen--allowing your character to act and react to the stimuli they receive without allowing YOUR personality to react through the character.

Exactly, Mr. Body.

I personally think your combo could be brutal given time and understanding. Absorb from those who have excelled in that class and just have a great go at it. I am guilty of it too but we tend to forget you have 60 quarters in your pocket for continues. That's a lot of game overs, reading logs, learning equipment, learning where your power is and weaknesses lie.

Spit in their faces, tell them Anamus was a punk (lol) and do as Anume said and practice surviving. You'll get there whether they want you to or not. It just takes a whole lot of hard work and determination. There's no EZmode button, despite some of the hype about race/class/cabal combos.

Based on your recent comment regarding not making it past Inductee, I can surmise who you are. If I am correct you are playing arguably one of the strongest combos Aabahran has to offer. Now that does not mean anything if you keep spinning off the track in turn 1. So what you need to do, is buckle down, focus on SURVIVAL. Instead of going "Man, I am losing, better just stand here and die" get out, regroup, restart. You can win PKs just because your opponent messes something up. You do not even have to do anything. Tell me that is not awesome. You don't even need to win, you just need to focus on not losing. Alot of people who are new to a class suffer from "what the **** do I do" syndrome. Not knowing exactly what to do is going to cost you in PKs regardless. But take your combo, go find PK logs of THAT combo, study them. Do not just read them. Dissect them, pour over them. Try to figure out why each character did certain things, identify what you think you should have done, then compare that with what was done successfully by another player.

To simply advocate that the game is not fun is kind of counterproductive. You obviously have fun here, otherwise you would not be typing folks to death. So let us get to the root of what causes you frustration. It is, also, obviously a lack of PK success. This stems typically from a lack of experience with a class. For example:

I cannot play a DK. I have also never played one to 50. Coincidence?

I sucked with rangers, I then took one to WM, and fought EVERYTHING.

I can now play rangers to a moderate level of success. Coincidence?

I can play hit and run classes (invokers, zerks, shamans) very well because most of my play experience is in those type of classes. I have played 15 invokers, and at least 15 berserkers. I am good with those classes. Coincidence?

Have you ever heard of the 10,000 hour rule? It states that success in ANY field is directly tied to the time put into it. In short, you can be a professional ANYTHING with 10,000 hours of practice in that field. The more time you put into learning PK, including: tactics, running patterns, combos, cabal powers, Weapon selection, THE UNDERDARK (very important). The better your going to be in FL. Alot of people spend most of their time getting gear, but very little time practicing how to keep it. I was guilty of the same thing, then I got so frustrated I stopped getting gear because I just kept losing it. Then I miraculously got better, because all i had to focus on was getting better at pking, not gearing.

I wish you the best of luck, if I can offer you any advice, please feel free to ask.

Another piece of advice. Wanna get good at pk? Play only one char at a time. It's wheni play multiple chars even if they're Pre fifty that I notice my pk ability go down. Learn a class. Focus on it. Master it. Get your muscle memory to respond to that class in pk situations. Etc. You will note a marked improvement in just a relatively short time

I couldnt agree more, partly why I decided to quit bouldis. I will forget what toon I am on, and not do something I should, or the opposite.

Is this about a dwarf cleric in Knight? Even with a terrible deity, there isn't much in the game that can give you trouble. Post a pk log (with score sheet/affs/equipment) or just pm it to me if you want to keep the info secret.

You should be able to give Thulgan a good run for his money if you get a lucky combination in combat.

The trick is...get them all so scared that they panic when having to face you! :D Very few people would aggress me once I had a reputation, and certainly no non-cabal war foes. It is that beginning 200 hours which is rough. So aim for that hour mark, at least.

I killed rilithin with just a shield and staff. Eq is overrated. Oh had a light too.

I bet you were a shaman...

Ledgerbay, Orchuga combo is easy pie fight as a Goodie Cleric, specially as an dwarf.

You should almost never die to him, unless he abducts you into the Chapel or the Tomb under Emerald.

Just don't go around like a certain halfling cleric tribunal that forgot protective shield.

And you should not depend on your meele vs an Ogre Warrior. He has to many defenses for it to be reliable. Just use your holy hands and a no drop shield, like I told you.

Open with curse, then calm, then flee and heal up. From then on it's a ray's + curing dance.

If he wield the water mace, change your weapon into a cursed exotic (marmalade orb) or a nodrop mace.

If you can't kill him just start to aggressively attack him with ray. So that you can practice the ray + cure dance. Practice makes perfect.

Orchuga is a skilled player, so don't expect to walk over him. It takes many many tries for a veteran player to actually kill another veteran player.

Most of fights end with one running away. And the other to wounded to chase.

Dwarf cleric while suffering a huge deal vs thief and ninjas is the perfect learning Cleric race, as it allows a huge amount of error margin.

Ever fought someone who could 4 round you? Thulgan is probably the only one that can.
