P_body
Currently I'm diggin' "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys. Got lots of others, but this one just seems to fit my current character's rhythm for PK.
The-Nameless
I cannot listen to mainstream music for PK purposes. It needs to be something fast, and mind warping. I really really get into techo for intense PK characters. While for more RP oriented characters I prefer final fantasy 7 & 8 music, excluding battle music. God my childhood was full of that stuff. P_body
weirdo. Give me examples. I wanna see if I can use any of it.
hotspring monkey
I listen to hobo-surmacore and other crap when playing. Examples (none is interested, but will share anyway):Rytmihäiriö: (because satan says so) (boozeteeth) (the Need to kill a human) (it rains hobo-booze) Mokoma: (vade retro satana) (evil blood) Turmion Kätilöt: (I command!) (Butcher) Stam1na: (Panzerfaust) Godsmack:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbyUST2gOn8 (Re-align, all time favourite FL song)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwYeOix8GYg (old FL theme)
P_body
Gemenskap, only thing I could stomach there was Godsmack. I prefer "I stand alone" as the all time favorite, but Re-align is good too. Who else has somethin' to share?
The-Nameless
Paul Oakenfold gets you in a good mood.Da rude is always good. f0xx has a really good library of techno.
crackwilly21
I don't understand how you people can listen to music and play FL at the same time. I get so distracted by it that I lose count of timing and running/chasing.
P_body
some music actually HELPS me time the ticks etc. depending on the music, it's a definite benefit to my pk.
Imoutgoodbye
Contained within the idea of music to PK to is the implication that when the music is on, the mindset is in killing and that nothing is going to interrupt that rhythmic thought. Think about it.
P_body
who is that directed at Valek? Is that at Crackwillie or just the idea of music to pk to in general?
Imoutgoodbye
The idea in general. No one should get lost in the thought that once the music starts it can't stop, that the dedication is the rhythm and the show must go on. It's a fallibility that it's easy to fall prey to. No one should fall into the mind set that the PK is the only thing that matters at that point.
P_body
I'm going to be honest. I have no idea what you're talking about. Dare I invite an explanation, but I'm going to. What are you talking about?
H&R
Valek is hard to grasp sometimes. I have many times fallen into the mindset that the PK is the only thing that matters and music is distracting.
f0xx
I personally play a chillout radio with on a very low volume, helps me stay calm and think straight, I've noticed, although, makes me fall asleep sometimes.
Dead Voodoo Doll
Same as Nameless, though recently I've gotten into just one soundtrack or another, like The Fountain by Clint Mansell over and over and over
P_body
So what exactly do you see as a negative from getting lost in music/mood/game and focusing on the PK? I'm still not understanding your point here. Are you implying it has a negative affect on the human mind, has some moral objection, or that it distracts from your characters RP? ...What's the problem?
Dead Voodoo Doll
Valek sees the negative in a lot of things, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I would assume he is implying it gears you only for a mindset of killing and not of roleplaying. To do that he has to assume a lot about each of us on a personal and psychological level. P_body
So the problem with music is that if you're listening to music to pk, you're not roleplaying?

The non-usage of pronouns tells a different story. Also, pointing out an idea and a possibility of subconscious reactions is not judging. It is merely making a suggestion to examine the possibility and maintain a logical outlook.

Imoutgoodbye
Valek is hard to grasp sometimes. I have many times fallen into the mindset that the PK is the only thing that matters and music is distracting. Admittedly, my thoughts aren't always formed the best and I don't always put forth anything clear cut (intentional). However, if anyone thinks I'm bat **** crazy, they should read some of what I have to read. http://www.faculty.umb.edu/gary_zabel/Courses/Art%20and%20Philosophy%20in%20SL%20and%20Other%20Virtual%20Worlds/Texts/cyborg_manifesto.pdf You may go a little crazy yourself. P_body
Contained within the idea of music to PK to is the implication that when the music is on, the mindset is in killing and that nothing is going to interrupt that rhythmic thought. Think about it. I think this is utterly false. Music has a theme and is widely used to set a mood, influence emotions, communicate through a medium other than words. Since my characters are not ME but a separate 3rd party I'm trying to create/understand, listening to music helps me explore that idea, emotion, action, paradigm etc. Employing music doesn't, on a psychological/metaphysical/character development/RP level detract or hinder the expression and roleplay of the character in the slightest. Now, it's possible that poorly chosen music can inhibit that character expression, but the idea of employing music while playing/PKing certainly doesn't. If that were so, movies would never have scores. /argument What you got Valek?
Imoutgoodbye
The dichotomy pushed is false. Music to PK by is still a terrible way to phrase it. Music to Mud to...that would be better. And check your inbox.
