Cephirus
It seems odd to me that I have to track down the linguist to try and learn different languages. I actually was trying to find him once, and searched all the basic areas I would expect him to be in (major cities and areas connected to them) but he was not there. Considering the cost to learn languages, I think the linguist should be in a static location, or just move between the three major cities, having to chase him down to give him my gold is terribly frustrating. Dale
I've seen clan quests that tell you where he is occasionally. But he's just one of those things you have to take advantage of when you come across him.
f0xx
I think it's pretty fine the way it is right now.
Implementor Volgathras Posted June 4, 2014 Implementor Report Share Posted June 4, 2014 There are trainers for most languages where you'd expect to find others of their race. The linguist is unique in that he can train in everything (even 'rare' languages) and can give learning session. So as was mentioned, running across him is something to be taken advantage of, but difficult to seek out. He can also port anywhere without restriction. Imoutgoodbye
Can someone point me to these trainers? As usual, I can't find anything.
Cephirus
I agree with Valek, and was not aware there were other trainers for languages aside from the Laconic. I tried training at my guild in one of the three major cities but did not have success, so I assumed it would be the same elsewhere. Is there some way to tell if a mob is a language trainer aside from simply walking around the various areas and spamming the learn (language) command? Enethier
I don't think we're allowed to tell OOC, but they are all uniquely named mobs that were not in the area before. The ones in cities are generally in places that would be frequented by NPCs of that race. The ones in race-controlled areas are a little more difficult to find, but not entirely unmanageable. They are also the only ones, to my knowledge, that speak any other language than common in their periodic bits of talking.
The Professor
Yes, if you're looking for language teachers... asking a kindly Herald may well aid your cause!
