English lad
First off Hi. Its been a few years since i actively played - but as with any member of this community - i've always kind of "kept an eye on things". The last couple of years have since life become very grown up for me. Marriage, House buying, and soon (next year or so - depending on how long it takes!) Parenting. I play the odd game here or there, a bit of League of Legends, a bit of Path of Exile. Every now and again i'll jump into a RPG and dump a few hours there. For the last couple of years I've dipped in and out of a local D and D group - and enjoyed that, but its been keeping harder and harder to keep up with it, plus whether I like it or not, I don't really fit in anymore. Long story short I'm looking for an avenue to engage my creative side, and RP with like minded people. Some of you may remember me from a few years ago, most probably won't. I was average at best at PK - and I don't think you can rank RP ability. Part of the reason I haven't stuck with the game very much over the last 4 - 5 years has been the fact that I am a competitive person by nature, and I just didn't feel I could compete. I can rarely sink more than 10 hours a week into a game. I play on UK times, which mean I'm not around for core US gaming hours. and while my skills will have atrophied to nothing, I'm sure other people have improved all the time. Realistically - I'd love to give the game another go, but probably not if i'm not going to be able to compete. I;m not looking to be a world beater - but i'm a looking at a scenario where i'm playing solo 75% of my time (which is what i found before, due to time differences) and then getting stomped 20 % of the time, thats probably not a worthwhile investment of time. So, to cut a rambling session short - I'm taking another pop at FL, and wondering what the environment is like for a casual player - who won't ever be on during 'core' times/

Dale
I remember you EL. The Mud's playabilty has only grown since I last played a year ago, I wish there were more players but a few seem to be popping back in. So good luck! P.s. Roll a watcher! Aulian
I remember you EL. The Mud's playabilty has only grown since I last played a year ago, I wish there were more players but a few seem to be popping back in. So good luck! P.s. Roll a watcher! Ok don't roll a Watcher... (Jesus Dale we want him to stick around - an undead monk L and a crusader does not sound like the easiest combo to combat). Roll a Moderate character, even when you die, you don't loose nothing (much) but can still collect a few rares. Think about a combo that has great survivability and great PK powress, like a (yes Im going to stay it) Doublesheath Ogre Ranger - throw them shields, switch from high damage to high defense at the touch of a button and you can literally solo 90% of anything with patience and a couple of tips. Combat is also pretty straight forward, simple tactics mean simple mistakes - lot of survivability. Obviously you have to play what you would like to play, but keep it simple
