Implementor Volgathras Posted September 28, 2014 Implementor Report Share Posted September 28, 2014 Recent earthquakes have plagued the land, for reasons unknown. Whether as the result of some dark magic, or simply the natural order these tremors have grown in strength over the last few months. Reports also exist claiming that the cries of some pained beast often accompany these natural disasters. At least, the quakes have stopped - but not before rising to terrible intensity. The worst of it occurred in the depths of the Dragon Sea, but it's effects were felt the world over. Especially striking, however, was the result. As the world thundered and the seas rolled, from beneath the sapphire waves rose... an island. Strangely, it's veritable millennia on the ocean bed doesn't appear to have caused the island any adverse harm. It seems as beautiful and lush as an untouched paradise. However, a sense of despair lingers, almost palpable. Nothing lives on the island that can be discovered, but something remains, waiting to be found. Those around Miruvhor and those condemned to the Isle of Exile where the island appeared closest whisper in hushed voices about Ayluin, but further pressing earns the curious traveler hard glances and silence. What is known is that Ayluin's Lament is risen again, but why? _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ayluin's Lament is a small area with two primary purposes. The first is to relay the tale of Ayluin and the reason for the island's existence - and subsequent disappearance. This is told through a quest that can be found somewhere in the new area. The second is yet to be discovered, but has been hinted. Perhaps time will tell what happens next on the cursed island.

Implementor Volgathras Posted November 30, 2014 Author Implementor Report Share Posted November 30, 2014 Ayluin's Lament is once again active, and with the rebirth of the volcano the island's reason for returning to the surface are once again made clear. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Gor'gorak were a race of powerful beings, chosen to protect Gaia and her creations. But their time was long ago, and only one remained. It was this last gor'gorak that was summoned by the Earthsinger, Grimulfr, in a battle against the Demon Prince Volgathras. It was a desperate and risky ploy, timed to take advantage of the Prince's pride. And it was successful. With Volgathras' defenses down and focused on Grimulfr, the Gor'gorak struck. Beast and demon collided in a corona of power, and when the dust settled all that remained was a finger of the great and valiant guardian of the earth. The people called it the Demon Obelisk, and there it remained, silent, for an age. Though Aabahran is never a place of peace, it knew some measure of quietude with the absence of the Demon Prince. It's forces scattered, it's generals leaderless, the forces of Nexus waned. But chaos is eternal, and it's manifestation waited, locked in the Demon Obelisk for the time when it would be released. It took years, but when the symbol of Volgathras' pride was brought to bear against the stone, it cracked and released the fractured spirit of the Demon Prince. The ordeal left the Gor'gorak broken, weak. It suffered a taint of the soul by housing the corpse of the Prince of Madness, a taint that would not wash clean. But this wasn't enough. By Volgathras' decree, Grimulfr and the goddess he coveted would suffer shame the same as he had borne in his defeat at Drkshtyre wood. Through the manipulations and machinations of evil men, three souls were inspired to place the orbs of Hatred, Fear and Betrayal within the Demon Obelisk. Utilizing the basest flaws of mortality, the taint grew. It spread, until it consumed Drkshtyre and turned it in to a putrid ruin. A scar on Gaia's face, so that she would ever remember the price of nearly destroying Prince Volgathras. As the taint grew, so did it's powers of chaos and corruption. The Gor'gorak - a creature of nature and possessed of it's healing abilities - was caught between two powerful and opposing energies. Just as Gaia's love renewed it' body, Volgathras' hatred poisoned it's spirit. When it finally rose from the earth, it arose changed. A creature of two parents, hating itself for what it became, and hating everything around it for letting it happen. The Gor'gorak wandered Drkshtyre for years, ever tormented by it's failure and the monstrous entity it had become. People grew to fear it's cries, and avoided the deeper parts of the forest. But as time drew on the Gor'gorak would not remain dormant, and began to venture further in to mortal lands. Action had to be taken. A group of brave souls confronted the monster as it rampaged through the cities. With ancient power they drew it away towards the blasted lands and cursed deserts, channeling the powers of discord just enough to counter-act nature's restorative pull. The resulting dissonance shattered the Gor'gorak, but the heroes knew it was not the end. Eventually the pieces would reunite, and the Gor'gorak would be free to terrorize mortality again. A more permanent solution had to be found. The return of Ayluin's Lament was like a sign from Gaia herself. The island was a prison for the soul of Ayluin, who deigned to create life as She did. Could it not, then, also serve as the final resting place of this corrupted creature of the earth? That was the reasoning as the pieces of the Gor'gorak were quietly gathered and placed within the mouth of the island's dormant volcano. A figure appeared then, confronting the stone-bearers with suspicion. But as the rocks were placed a vision wracked the man's body and, revealing himself as an agent of Gaia, he took charge of the Gor'gorak as it's vigil, claiming it was Gaia's will. Perhaps it was, for no sooner had the stranger taken up this mantle, than the volcano rumbled to life, and from it's depths the renewed form of the Gor'gorak arose. Now, Ayluin's Lament houses the spirits of two cursed beings - one a victim of Gaia's wrath, and the other cursed to a life of torment, but kept close to it's mother's love and compassion.
Implementor Volgathras Posted November 30, 2014 Author Implementor Report Share Posted November 30, 2014 The Gor'gorak has been added to Ayluin's Lament. The cursed beast of Chaos and Nature is an overworld boss designed to be a serious challenge to a group of level 50's, requiring timing, tactics and luck to defeat. If heroes should be strong and lucky enough to defeat the Gor'gorak, they will find themselves rewarded handsomely. There's even a hard mode for the truly brave with even more significant gains. Face it at your own risk. This is not a monster to be taken lightly. But like any great risk, the chance of great treasure and renown may just be enough to risk your life.
