Talcian
Hey, I have a linux cert. test coming up in a couple weeks, and was thinking, I bet alot of my fellow FL community peoples know their linux. So, if any have taken the test recently, what main topics should I really know? I hear its roughly 20% hardware, so that part will be cake. I think its based off redhat if that helps any. Oh, and this is sure to step on some toes, but I have to throw it in. Except in a server environment, Windows > Linux
Iyorvin
Windows is closed source, linux is open. So potential wise Linux always has the potential to be greater then windows.
Grumpy
I think Linux > Windows. But I still use windows mainly because of one program. ZMUD!
Warpnow
No OS is purely better than any other OS. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, pros and cons. It all depends on what you're using the computer for. Also, there are linuxes which are unrecognizable to each other. Run Knoppix, then compare it to Linspire. Run Ubuntu, then compare it to a more server-intense linux.
Talcian
I will say this, linux live is just brilliant. I think, not sure if you already can do this or or not, but save the configurations. Just think, put a version of linux live on a thumb drive, with the ability to save it. Boot from the usb drive. Brilliant.
Zrothum
I created that OS back in 1983 with a buddy of mine from Cal-tech. We never thought it would come this far.
