muddmann
So I'm having a bit of trouble.. The other day I wiped my comp cause it started bugging out.. A while back I was playing path of exile and it worked fine.. Now I can't get it to run more than about 15 FPS.. I think maybe my computer isn't using all of the installed ram I have but I'm not sure how to figure out how much it's using... Also if anyone knows any other tricks to bump up my FPS I would appreciate it
mya
Is it a dual graphic card Laptop? Because, you could be using the on-board one instead of the good one. To fix this, just right click on the icon and chose to use the right graphic card.
Gaunticles
If changing the the gpu settings doesn't fix the issue my next guess would be to look at updating all the systems drivers, specifically the graphic card. Maybe you forgot to update one of generic drivers after reloading the OS.
Bolgrum
my money is on missing or incorrect graphics card driver, or if you unplugged things your screen may be plugged into onboard graphics instead of the video card by mistake. f0xx
On board GPU shouldn't work if there's a discrete GPU connected to the motherbeard. If the GPU driver had gone bad, your graphics should look weird even when outside the game. That being said, try to install the latest GPU driver. Cephirus
Regarding the FPS, I would check what has been mentioned above regarding your drivers. In regards to checking your RAM, assuming you are using a Windows OS, if you go to the properties of your computer (this is also true of most other OS's as well) you can see how much RAM it has listed. There are certain factors to take into consideration, like with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition X64, you can only use up to 16GB, however all the X86 versions can only use up to 4GB. So in those cases, it does not matter what your hardware supports, as it is a limitation of the software.

More recent PC's will use whichever GPU the screen is connected to. - if you plug into onboard hdmi/vga the dedicated card won't fire up and youll just get poor performance but with older gear you'll get a black screen if you don't connect to the graphics adaptor the bios is set to use. source: Built a $2000 pc for a friend a few months ago and he said battlefield 4 was choppy at max graphics. found him plugged into onboard gfx instead of his $600 GPU
muddmann
well everything is up to date, ive only got 4G ram but that should be plenty to run POE.. it is a laptop so theres really no plugging into the wrong port. i've defraged debugged and everything else i can think of.. i've got the graphics all the way down as far as they go ive tried windowed mode fullscreen etc and idk what the heck to do. any other ideas? Bolgrum
Ah K didn't see it was a laptop. If you are using a version of windows with Aero (flashy transparency) you can disable desktop composition by right clicking the shortcut to POE and that should help.Or just turn off Aero completely and test it. also, kill shadows and any post processing if its not a high end laptop. you might have to give up AA too if the frames are still lacking. Did you try the right click thing I suggested you? Because my laptop will run POE at 16 fps if not selected to run with the right card.

Aulian
Maybe since they've made updates its more intensive then it was before for your system to handle? I know when I last played POE it was still in beta and they were planning on including a whole bunch of stuff.
