Yes, and change ranger capabilities...they are half-rogue, half-melee. Burst damage (high output) is great design for them, but they should (in other ways) be way less beefy in straight battle than they are now. They have an excellent hide ability and regen as it is. Design-wise, rangers have sooooo much potential to be more than a melee.

 

I consider them fairly imbalanced now, as they compare to pure melees in combat in addition to the signature rogue ability (hide) with great supports thrown in.

 

Rangers need much more rogue and much less melee. There is a reason ogres are the best race for them (as well as every other class they can be!). Draw their abilities away from melee focus and buff support/hit-and-run abilities. They would be much, much, much more interesting.

I don't like how beastmaster rangers are limited to 3 pets, even if they join a cabal like Watcher which has good pets as part of its cabal perks.

 

Right now, a beastmaster in Watcher can have the same amount of pets as a regular ranger in Watcher (or a ranger in any cabal with a cabal pet) - which is 3, maximum.

 

I reckon if you take the beastmaster perk, it should be permissible for you to get 4 pets. That is, the three pets you can usually summon, plus a cabal pet.

They're not the bloody living version of a necromancer for a reason.

I'll roll an archer ranger and use them to the best of their applicable ability per code - if I steamroll the player base, or if I see something I think needs balanced, I'll balance it.

Give me a few weeks.

Any suggestions as to race? Human perhaps? Or the more obviously picked ogre?

 

 

I feel like this is so much wasted energy and effort.. We have our MAIN coder rolling a class to test the PK capabilities of something that is clearly NOT broken as that combo has won AND lost across MULTIPLE players instead of fixing classes that are basically unplayable? IE: Bards.

 

How many times are the same classes going to be toyed with? Blows. My. Mind.

 

If this was going to be Morlhach's serious mort char, then I wouldn't care. By all means, please, play the game you help make great, but why try to fix something that isn't broken?

I just think its wasted time, really. We all know that archers are fine. No offense to UC, but he is just complaining because he doesn't want to use the available methods to get around his problem that are ALREADY in the game.

 

Not only that, but I'm not too fond of fighting a "throw-away" character for a test. Isn't that why we have the "test server"?

 

 

Like I said in my last post, if this was a serious character that you want to play, RP, and have fun with then I am ALL for it. But its not. Its a test.

I really see no argument here, rangers can't do anything to you when you're asleep like ninjas, thieves and necros can.  Murder commands?  Plus you can take arrows out the game with a simple scroll, ntm all that path's real abilities.

Rangers can't spell you up in your sleep but they can burst damage you up. They have two things they can do to max this or like I said in the past wait the sanctuary and open with murder + 2 beasts, for a lot of meele output.

 

While we are discussing rangers, can ranger throw bypass protective shield to give vuln damage?
