Atticus
Anyone know what's going on with this? Thought a change log or something would have been mentioned by now. Just throwing my line out there to see what I catch.A.
The Forsaken
Guessing it's svs vs bard songs.
Atticus
Hmm, I thought so too but I haven't seen any eq with that svs so I hope not. I would like to think the imms would let us know if something that big was the case.
English lad
Well Svs vs Breath is an old ROM Asset - However FL never used it as far as I know (didn't play in Beta or 1.0). Has Morch recycled it for something else? Or has it accidently snuck into something?
Implementor Volgathras Posted March 31, 2015 Implementor Report Share Posted March 31, 2015 I'm fairly sure we've ALWAYS used svsbreath, it just wasn't written that way on your score sheet.
Implementor Erelei Posted March 31, 2015 Implementor Report Share Posted March 31, 2015 svs breath has been there for ages. I'm just recycling it - being some spells have in the past used it as a save vs. Some spells, and most songs will now use it as a save vs. It's really not that big of a change, considering svs vs spell has always encompassed all of the saves vs.
mya
I think it's a big change. In the past saving vs something was always a function of "saving vs spell" + "saving vs mal/aff/mental", since there isn't gear for saving vs breath, we can imagine that saving vs spell is now more powerful than saving vs something in particular since it will protect you from breath saves. That is considering that you changed the save check function that only checked if it was a spell of maledictive or Afflictive nature, and if it wasn't it just assumed mental. I bet this is no longer the case. PS: This are the only eq that I ever found with save vs breath: Object 'humble scout's scout cloak' is type armor, material cloth.Extra flags: dark.Weight is 1, value is 10, level is 20.Armor class is 7 pierce, 4 bash, 4 slash, and 0 vs. magic.Affects savingbreath by -2.Affects dex by 2. And a shield in the vampire at the bottom of "Chapel"
Implementor Volgathras Posted March 31, 2015 Implementor Report Share Posted March 31, 2015 You'll likely see more in the future, as previously it saved only vs dragon breath attacks.
Implementor Erelei Posted March 31, 2015 Implementor Report Share Posted March 31, 2015 More equipment will become available. And some that we currently have will additionally be modified. Have faith in your immortal staff.
mya
I just got this idea. If we got a new save type, why not have a new mage class paragon of this save type?Afflictive - > InvokersMaledictive -> ShamansMental -> Psi, ClericsRestorative -> Healers, Clerics Breath -> Kick-ass fire-breathing giant flying dragon with lances.https://img0.etsystatic.com/054/0/10679740/il_340x270.735945490_64si.jpgOr some sort of Shapeshifter mage, that shapeshifts into Hydras and Dragons and stuff.Should not be to complicated with Werebeast code stuff.OR some sort of Wyrm Rider.http://www.mrwallpaper.com/wallpapers/Dragon-Rider.jpg
f0xx
I think it's a big change. This makes no sense Mya. SVS has always been more powerful than save vs afflictive for example, since 1 svs = 1 aff + 1 mal + 1 mental save. As already stated, SVS has always saved vs breath. Absolutely nothing has changed.
Fool_Hardy
lol, new mage spell, polymorph other. Mya utters 'judis hopalot'Fox turns into a toad. My apologies, just humor. No offense foxx or mya.

mya
What has changed F0xx is that now you need to bias your saves towards svs vs spell instead of just thinking about getting (vs spell + vs mal + vs aff + vs mental). My armors tend to be a good balance of those four types. Because it's easy to get big vs a particular save than big vs spell.Well new eq with saves vs breath will fix that when it appears. I suspect this will slightly favor mages in the long run. As there are more saves type to cover, it's only natural that PC's will be lacking on particular type of save. While this will also affect mage armor (they to fight mages) they may have the luck of having a spell that targets that particular save. I wonder what will happen to some spells? Will they be changed to saving vs breath? For example Paladin Flamestrike (afflictive)Or weapons flamming effects, which save also on afflictive. It would be interesting if we didn't no longer needed AFF saves to fight warriors, but Breath saves. Hegemony
Mya, You..always had to bias your saves vs spell....then tailor to the specific enemy...
Naruthiron
Improve saves vs breath by plugging your nose. Or give them a tic tac.
Dale
I really don't get what the big deal is. You know they are going to IMP in new gear with Breath saves. It's not like they brought us a new type of spell with no way to save against it. What would be the point? Mya, we will give you a few moments to get your panties out of the wad they are in. (Yes I think he wears panties)

Atticus
Lol yes just saw it on the score sheet. Guess I'm going to avoid bards till I see svs breath eq. Crazy one class gets its own spell type .
Hegemony
Who's to say it's just one class? Maybe upcoming neutral Qclass/races, oprogs, or even new skills/spells for existing classes will use them. Also presumably good for fighting Dragons.
