The lad standing before you is quite obviously a dwarf, but what a dwarf
just...  The body - short but wide and quite muscular, pale skin.  His beard
is thick, long and white, divided in two braids.  The top of his dome is
bald, but protected by a strange hat, it appears to be made of silk with
strands of mithril woven through it.  Thick ruby earrings hang from both
ears, an extra from the left.  His eyes are a brown so dark it seems to
absorb the light and not ever let it escape.  Nearly all of his clothing is
a dark leather, with studs and spikes in various areas.  Strung across his
back is a black mandolin with a bayonet at the end, it is well cared for.
The neck of the mandolin also appears to serve as a sheath for two very
sharp and thin swords.  He doesn't appear to carry much in the way of
personal effects aside from what's clearly noticable.  
He has travelled quite a lot.
Galumba is in excellent condition.

To be honest, I really dont know much about BMG's, but in my opinion this one sure didn't try to hard to win the fight. No sharpmetal, only changed to a staff at the end of the fight, no healing or field dressing(not sure which they have now).  No thunderclap which in my opinion is cose to an opener if not an opener.  Its almost like someone is intentionally trying to make bards look OP.. but eh what do I know

Regardless of the BMG's skill and choice of spells I noticed a couple of things:

 

1. Bards hit for quite a bit of damage with their normal weapon - we're talking Lacerates through sanc and a bmages AC

2. The bards song was blocked by Terra-field - interesting. 

3. The bard is parrying like a mad man - with the weapon in hand.

 

What I also noticed:

 

1. Bards do not block well at all blind - barely blocked an attack.

2. The bards bow did not hit once - were you using missile immunity?

 

Advice for the Bmage: 

 

1. Blind and disarm were one of your best options - As soon as he dirted you should be disarming then following with a blind - your spells have 1 round of lag.

2. He is out damaging you, you need to either:

a) Out attrition him with slow and sleeping

B) Do more damage aka sharpmetal, sear, meteorstrike (yes I realise it was night time so sear wasn't an option).

3. You can blind on water, he cannot - he didnt seem like he was saving against those very well. Yes you will loose Terra-field but with blind and disarm that wouldn't matter by the looks of it. - this is a more risky tactic

4. Use healing either early or late - but use it. 

5. If he isn't blind and/or disarmed don't bother trying to dispel when he is at 50% hp and you are at 15%

6. Use thunderclap in conjunction with rust - this is essentially a melee opponent and you need to bring his dex and his hit/dam down - this is an attrition tactic

7. Don't use a whip against this opponent - it wasn't viable as soon as he started out damaging you. I would suggest either:

a) a staff

B) an awl pike (one handed staff) and the shield of invulnerability (Yes the -50ac is worth it.)

c) A mace and the shield of invuln

d) A dagger and the shield of invuln

 

So basically don't use a whip.

 

Hard to comment further - we have no idea of your eq, your ac or your options for dancing blade.

I can't add too much to Aulian's post.

 

The bard took the BMG's suggestion of using uppercut.  They were both about 75% when uppercut landed.  Prior to, the bard was blind and disarmed easily.  The engagement the uppercut landed, the BMG managed to get off one dispel.

 

The switch to staff happened shortly before the BMG was able to cast again, the bard was about 50% and 30% for the BMG at that time.  The only reason I can think of as to why it wasn't done earlier was for the properties of the whip.  This is of course, speculation.

The BMG was hit many times by arrows. The real question is why isn't Terra-field blocking half the arrows?

 Perhaps it's because it a lightning? Makes sense terra-field to ground the electricity.

Then again BMG can terra-field traps, the same way melees can dodge them.

 The weapon is magical, else it would be reduced by air-shield.

And, there is a round where the bard makes 5 attacks. It's brawl, whose help file now states bards can brawl everywhere at mastery.

So dual wield with two handed.
