The Forum
  The newly built Forum is Maelbrim's premier meeting area.  It is a large
circle, its boundaries marked by columns and its ground laid with marble. 
Here is where public deals are struck, orations are given, and a great deal
of spectacle takes place.  It was ground zero for the catastrophe that was
summoned to this land, but there are no signs of that devastation now.  What
had once been a ruinous crater is now a symbol of life and a flurry of
activity.  The King's Square is due east, the Northern Commons to the north,
the Southern Commons to the south and Green Square to the west.  A fountain
has been placed in the middle of the square, a true masterpiece of art. 
Just north of it, a white marble statue has been erected, depicting a very
hairy, square, small person.  Must be a dwarf.  
 
Some graffiti has been surreptitiously placed here, depicting a White Wolf.

Regent Avenue
  Lined with tall trees and groomed shrubs, Regent Avenue is the western
half of the main east-west throughway that dissects Maelbrim in half. 
Ostentatiously kept humbler than its position in Maelbrim would otherwise
dictate, those that designed it recognized that the role of a regent is to
fill the interim void that is left between sovereigns.  While a sovereign in
power, the title is a reminder of the inferior position of rank.  Therefore,
the road is not particularly wide, but it more than makes up for this in its
comfortable, aesthetic appeal.  Regent Avenue continues west and east from
here.

The Fletcher
  You stand in the interior of a small stone building. A large workbench
has been set up here, atop which lie several long pieces of wood and
steel stock, used for making crossbow bolts and arrows. Long strips of
feathered fletching hangs to dry on hooks in the wall, while a small
metalworking forge is here to craft heads for the projectiles.

New Hope Boulevard
  Even though grandly named, New Hope Boulevard is not a broad street, nor
is it built with costly material.  The concept behind it, is what gives it its
grandeur, the determination of the city's population to bend but never to

Green Square
  Much work has been put into Green Square since its construction.  The
remaining rubble has been removed, the earth has been planted with new
bushes and some of the hardier flowers.  A beautiful stone path leads
through the new plants.  The practice field to the north and northwest can
be seen over a row of small bushes.  Whereas the field is mostly used by the
military, Green Square is the people's domain.  Still, it sees rough sorts
who head through here to get to the Milieu, which is to the northeast of
this position.  Academy students and researchers can also often be found in
this area, as the Academy is in the district to the south of here.  Vanguard
Point to the west marks the boundary of the inner city limits of Maelbrim.

The Southern Commons
  This is one of the places which has been rebuilt last in the Maelbrim
reconstruction effort.  The southern commons look almost like a small park:
a round, cobbled space in the middle is framed by rows of planted flowers
and groomed bushes, all spiralling out from the central space in a beautiful
pattern.  Young trees stand like sentinels at the outer rim of the plaza,
once these are grown their branches will provide shade to those enjoying the
miniature park in the future.  A couple of benches are placed in strategic
positions, allowing people to rest while watching either the plants or the
business being conducted in the central of the square.  A small plume of
smoke can be seen to the east, deriving from the Demesne of Fire.

The Forum
  The newly built Forum is Maelbrim's premier meeting area.  It is a large
circle, its boundaries marked by columns and its ground laid with marble. 
Here is where public deals are struck, orations are given, and a great deal
of spectacle takes place.  It was ground zero for the catastrophe that was
summoned to this land, but there are no signs of that devastation now.  What
had once been a ruinous crater is now a symbol of life and a flurry of
activity.  The King's Square is due east, the Northern Commons to the north,
the Southern Commons to the south and Green Square to the west.  A fountain
has been placed in the middle of the square, a true masterpiece of art. 
Just north of it, a white marble statue has been erected, depicting a very
hairy, square, small person.  Must be a dwarf.  
 
Some graffiti has been surreptitiously placed here, depicting a White Wolf.

I think something may need looked into. Harsh dischord should have damaged that instrument I believe. Its damage should have dropped through the fight because of the bards lack of respect for it. I may be wrong, but if I am than the help harsh dischord file is misleading. Unless this was his vogue in which case maybe Vogue could use a cooldown timer. JMHO

Dissonance did damage the instruments at one time, but disabled them VERY quickly. I think that morl is looking into it.

Bad ranger for not finishing him when. He had 90hp.

Bad ranger for not using the vuln spear against a dwarf bard who doesn't get the spear skill.

Bad tribunal for using thunderstorm I'm the city.

Bad bard for not watching where you AoE!

Agreed. This log shows the real output of the class, but lets remember that this is also the strongest race that can be a bard. Likely sporting 50+ HIT/DAM (could be higher with certain maintains). What I found most interesting was that the instrument caused similar damage to both the elf and the ogre. Neither were likely sanced at the time. Curiously, and the reason I agree, the bard did not use most of his verbal arsenal, meaning that as a straight melee with dissonance he nearly won. I believe the fix will come from the nerfing of avg dam on instruments. I do not believe that 32 is necessary for the bards to compete. Max of 27 for Perfect materials and stepped down from there would suffice. Perfect being defined as within bards choice of instrument and highest quality of material for that instrument.

Edit: Remember too, I am one of the biggest fans of these new bard changes. This is not an attack on the gifted immortal who dreamed them up, but rather an acknowledgement that they are in need of a slight tone down. Also - Kudos to the ballsy dwarf taking on a Triby in town while three Tribies were on.

Nah, The elf got Mangles *** DEMOLISHES ***, and the Ogre *** OBLITERATES ***. Most likely some sort of magic instrument.

 

I would love to see an Invoker battle vs Galumba.

Or better yet, some warrior.

60/80 hit/dam to be exact. My weapon alone gives me +25 dam/+17 hit. Not too shabby eh? Wait till you see the new one I plan to make :P

You are reading a different log I guess.

Few things to keep in mind:

1) Harsh discord (dissonance) not only deals quite a bit of damage but also lags the target for 2 rounds (which is why Loendir didn't flee right away).

2) My damage is very high indeed, but that's because my stats are high and I'm wielding an avg 32 (vuln) weapon. Mind you, when was the last time your warrior had 80 damroll? Hell, Masokant had less with 2 full malforms and Nexus Leader. And I am uncaballed and not even that well dressed yet :P

3) Wimpy. I should have been dead there.

4) Did everyone miss the three demolishes I took through sanc in the end? That's fine I guess.

5) My vogue sucks, that's why I don't use it.

Phalanxe was dual wielding in the beginning of the fight. An axe and whip, seems to switch to a staff later on. He also seemed weak at the end. Comparable arrow dmg is why he most likely didnt finish. Phalanxe was hitting undercase and Galumba was hitting DISMEMBERS and MASSACRES through sanc with a bow on return fire.

Average damage is a component of a sader weapon/mal, but it is by no means the end all of it. It's the combination of avg damage and the other benefits that the weapons get that make them the most potent in the game. A sader weapon/mal with a lower avg damage will still be better than a weapon with equal or greater avg damage but without the other stuff.

That's ~400 damage in one round, through sanc, with one attack missed. Had she rushed me in there, I would have been dead.
