Guest Haberdasher
Obviously don't use or accept magic of any kind and don't befriend mages...simple enough. What about smoking herbs for extra help under the logic that it's natural (although I realize it defeats the "self-reliance part of the role). What about rogue classes who dabble in magic; should Warmaster hopefuls completely shun all people who use magic, and if so, how does that carry over into the political aspect of cabals once (if) the hopeful becomes a Warmaster. This is a very tricky role to play, and I'd really love some input.
Pieman
Generally gladiators try to shun drugs, but Barbarians are cool with them.
Calron
Don't worry about not using magic as a WM hopeful, its completely acceptable to use it until your in (You can use it once your in in some forms, if you choose Barb anyways), and the cabal IMM won't think any less of you. And its ok to be friends with mages too...

jb5679
:cough: savants :cough: go to this one house and see what happens when you befriend a savant Basically, the Savants would probably be the kind of friend to get a WM drunk and let em sleep with a gnome. Guest Haberdasher
Oh, I see. I'm from the old school during which WMs and magic was like oil and water...except the oil was constantly trying to kill the water.
Celerity
Just play normally (use of magic/drugs/etc) and if you are inducted, use whatever you are able. Yeah, and don't use magic weapons and armor. Heh.
Iyorvin
Or just play how you want your rp see fit. Noone is going to punish you for using it, but that doesn't mean going that extra mile for a now extinct RP wont' get you noticed. Harder to pull off, but possibly more fufilling in the long run. Peace.

Mudder
I remember when they were instant and called "Savant" gates. But the non-magic is old school WM rp. Not to say don't do it, but its old fashioned. WM's and Savants can very well be strong allies under this current system, your only real enemies are the ones you make. Except for the obvious Knight vs. Nexus (Due to obvious reasons and alignment restrictions) Watcher vs. Tribunal (But this one IS possible to change with correct RP) Syndicate vs. Tribunal (For ethos reasons, but also able to change) But yes, if I make a WM hopeful hes gonna be hardcore mean and old schoolish aswell. Designated_Driver
I tried to bring WM and Savant with Grom. That lasted about five seconds, until Athara beat it out of me.
