Bones lay scattered around the black stone walls that tower before you.
Several pairs of gleaming red eyes can be seen on the battlements high
above. A vicious wind stirs the mist from the ground, revealing countless

to the fortress. The earth is stained with blood and the air is thick
with fear.

in the distance, from an unknown source, a faint scream can be heard.

On the other hand, seeing what the "elite" PKers were like during the days, makes me feel like even Valek would have been able score a kill or two then.

PK began at level 15.

 

Then towards the end, every caballed 50 would immediately pound you into the ground. It was terrifying then they'd take on your entire hunting party and win. (Mostly because everyone was a newbie who was in panic)

 

 

Look at the eq! A godsuit was very different back then. People were viable in what would by our standards now be terrible eq.

 

So much stress back then. Haha.

I liked it more back then.

 

Everything rare was incredibly precious... If you managed to get the magic multi-plated girdle from the statue you were like OMFG WTF AMAZING!

 

No one was buffed to the days - It was all a bit more primal. A bit more scary.

 

It was fantastic.

Amen, I remember when charming the Fire Ruler, and fire bombing a group of three would scatter the group in all directions, wearing little more than a full suit of red dragon armor, a couple of dreamseeking cloaks and some opal rings. Once they scattered you picked which one to chase. If you look at the inventory checks during these old pk logs, people went into battle carrying one, maybe two vials. These days people have a bag of sanc/flight/protections, and will not engage unless they have H/D that doubles what we used effectively then.

Part of what created this environment was everyone essentially being a newbie by our standards. Remember when Gear was considered dangerous and entire groups went in not knowing how to do it, failing half the time?

 

I honestly think a change like we had from 1.0 to 2.0 is needed to "reset" the knowledge and change up the game. I'm sure tons of you will be upset I even mention this. You sissies are afraid of change. ;)

I still remember when Zenizen came up to me and asked for the recall (yes, I played Xavius). Considering we had fought on a couple of occasions, I was hoping it would earn me some brownie points... it did not :(

 

The one thing you all want to keep in mind is that things are very different from back then. Not only has the game itself gone through tons of changes, but the player base is also much smaller and better educated.

 

I agree with Foxx, I think any of our current stock of players would have done very well (assuming they have the knowledge of the game they have now).
