Third encounter with this beast. Two previous have ended in Nuggets death.

I got much to learn but this was my best effort. 

1) Was trying to retrieve item earlier - I died

2) Was going to take more hostile approach since Nugget is Barbie and of rank V, so not much

    drawbacks of losing the item in the first place. Worked better.

3) Kudos to Lejarak - you're damn fast where as I am not.

I would suggest dual wielding flails. Also keep sanctuary herbs in inventory and be ready to smoke them. It's ok for u to sit and do nothing in combat and just wait for his dispels to land then smoke. If he keeps focusing on dispelling he is losing. Also a timely dirt at the start of a tick would do you well but only if you don't fear the dispel like when you had him on the ropes there at first.

You wasted 3 valuable rounds there at the start, one with a hhayt instead of hay, and two more when you tried to haymaker a guy with a shield. I also would not try to go immediately for the haymaker against a class that isn't going to lag itself for more than a round. Any burst you might have gotten if it went through would have just been healed during the chase.

 

Look at your opponent, check what his eq looks like. Check if either the weapon or the shield is burnproof. If one of them is not, especially the weapon on an invoker, blow it up. Some people will counter this by carrying a dozen or so clay shields in their inventory, but it's still good to test their preparations. As a berserker you have a lot of down time in fights, because most of your skills are best used reactively. So in the beginning of the fight especially, test this out. Worst case scenario is they either flee immediately, or they wear another. If they flee immediately, that's usually a good sign to press the assault on either them or the cabal. If they wear another, at least they are soaking up additional damage for a round of combat, assuming you time your shield cleave to fire off just before the round starts (except in this case when he is wearing a shield but doesn't have shield block).

 

If I had to guess, Lejarak was using an awl pike, which means either he made it burnproof with CP/RP or it is not burnproof at all. Regardless, your path can still manage to break the item temporarily, if memory serves, so that should have been your focus. An invoker invests a lot of time and energy on their weapon, and without it they are noticeably weaker. He probably has backups, but if you can flee and heal up from time to time, you can whittle his choices down immensely. Few people burnproof multiple weapons, especially ones they don't intend on wielding. Destroying his weapon could have all but guaranteed a victory.

I don't know what changes were made to haymaker as I thought only classes with the actual shield-block skill could "block" it (as opposed to it just failing).  Apparently anyone with a shield can block it which seems odd IMO.  That said, the timing of your haymaker vs a skilled opponent is going to be a decisive factor.  Landing that haymaker when he's pretty hurt is much better than landing it when he's at 90% if you're already out-damaging him.

 

In short, use your Zerk-path skills to your advantage.  Have a plan.  Execute.

Isn't it the protective shield that is blocking the haymaker?

Also, why keep closing that backpack?

You're right. It's different message when actual shield blocks the haymaker. (Blah blocks your punch with his shield and you curse as pain erupts in your fist!)
