Vintervalpen
I didn't know if there's a thread of this sort already, but I had some quick roleplaying questions. What is the known world know as in game? Would we refer to it as Aabahran in-character, or is that more of an OOC term?Is there any established canon as to what lies beyond the edges of the map? Are there other continents beyond the seas? Can new characters decide they're from beyond the great desert, or from the dense junglest to the furthest south or such? Basically, is the geography outside of the game's zone just up to us to define in our backgrounds/etc, or is there anything set in place already? What about settlements of the different races? Clearly, we have the great cities and a few villages here and there, but surely that is not all? Is it acceptable for my character to hail from a settlement in the harsh climates of the north where giants, humans, and were-beasts live side by side? Anything in particular to keep in mind when writing up backgrounds and such? How much of a creative freedom do we have when it comes to the history of the world itself? A small group of avian splintered off from the Airia and lived isolated in mountains with no contact from their brethren? A colony of blue and red slith managed to live together in harmony, venerating the sort of yin-yang balance inherent in the world - life and death, good and evil, and order and chaos - in a strange symbiosis? What happens if something is too far out there in a background? Will the Imms step in to clear things up?Do any of the sentient races lay eggs (avian and slith primarily, as birds and reptiles do)? Naruthiron
Slith probably lay eggs. Avians are less like birds, and more like winged humans. Think less harpy, more angel. You have plenty of creative freedom, so long as you don't try to circumvent game rules. I have personally invented several settlements that are not represented on the world map. The world map has the major settlements, and any invented ones should be tiny smatterings, and not full blown societies, but they can exist. To use your examples... The avian settlement fragmented from Airia would work. The entire new Slith society, large enough to house multiple types of Slith and still have the structure to work out a complex relationship with one another, would not fit in with these guidelines. There are continents outside the map. Mainly to the east and west, though some characters have referenced the far north and south. The largest mention is the lands to the west, where King Irthrier rules. The area of the world where we play is called Aabahran, and that it what it is called by those that inhabit it. If that is also the name of the planet is a good question that I am not sure of. It used to be called Thera, but I have heard tales of people being slain in previous administrations for bringing that up, since Thera is a remnant of AR, and really just an anagram for Earth. Vintervalpen
More questions: What is the general technology level in the game (what is commonly known amongst the people)? And what is the highest technology level found in the game (the highest technology area/mob/items/etc)? How advanced is the clockworks in Gear? How advanced is shipbuilding and seafaring? Is there really any naval interest in terms of the cities/nations in the game (both Val Miran and Maelbrim are landlocked, but I know Miruvhor has docks and such)? Also, how do you get the caramel inside the chocolate bar?
f0xx
Its a MEDIAEVAL game puppe. That being said, your imagination is the only limit. We've had a dkn selling workout programs, inventors, fashion fascists, even a very interesting pink-pants-wearing demon recently, so with enough consistent rp everything is possible. Enethier
Gear is another world/time so not applicable.I've played a mechanical demon before so there's that. There have been pirate characters and miruvhor is a large port. We also have a small fishing village near Marak.
