zetakappa
We're in the top 20 now. In the 20th spot. Maybe the game's login or MOTD should link to the forums and ask the player to vote? A lot more people would remember, then.
crackwilly21
It's been attempted, it sucked.

Warpnow
yea, you used to be lagged for like 30 seconds at login if you hadn't voted. For dialup users it NEVER countes us as having voted. sucked. heh.

In fact, lots of people probably didn't vote just to spite the lag.
Chayesh
Such things are actually contrary to the spirit, and in some ways the letter, of the "law" for TMS. Rules state you cannot penalize in any way, shape, or form those who do not vote, and you cannot reward in any tangible way those who do. Voting is completely and utterly voluntary with no benefit or penalty garnered based upon your choice. It should be stated that promises of game upgrades such as class bumps, tone downs, new areas, and the like are not considered "benefit" since all benefit, not just those who voted. Similarly, my pic being posted is in no way a penalty as ALL who view it, not just those who didn't vote, will be shamed by my sheer machismo and join monasteries....even the ladies. I've seen such things, they aren't classy. "If we get into X slot, all fountains grant stone skin!" or whatever. Totally on board with everything here, but I'm talking about a simple reminder with no benefit and no consequences. I completely forget to vote if I don't visit the forums, and sometimes even then. Do you like the Forsaken Lands? Help make us popular by voting! On the other hand, I wonder how tough it'd be at 50 if every cabal had at least half a dozen characters on at all times.
Chayesh
TMS rules also state that an in-game prompt like you suggest is possible, however, it has to be able to be toggled on or off, with off being the default, or there has to be an option to opt out. With other coding matters much more necessary, and less cheesy ones at that, FL has chosen to employ the most simple of voting methods. THREATS OF PHYSICAL VIOLENCE!!!! *cough* I mean, the trust that those who wish to vote and feel strongly that they want to support the game, do. Iyorvin
I'd love a toggable vote option. My short term memory is so limited and I just dont' remember. If I could toggle a simply VOTE text that hit my char as I logged in, I'd love it.
Zavero
I am pretty sure you can put the words "VOTE" into your prompt. Prompt <%h/%Hhp %m/%Mm %v/%Vmv %gg %tt %Xxp VOTE>

Chayesh
This forum is my homepage, with the voting links very accessibly put in the upper righthand corner by our beloved Lunicant.
Iyorvin
I get so angry when I see AR above us. COME ON YOU ugly geeks, I know you can click that vote icon and be back to whatever you are doing with some magical keyboard tricks in less then .5 seconds. So come on! Chayesh
I realize you are all welcome to your opinion, but let's not start a trend of bashing other MUDs...especially ones with a "shared history" of FL. After all...no AR, no Viri & Crypt.
EtsoShex
Well, I meant in comparison to FL, o'course. Really? Viri and Crypt came from AR? That's pretty cool.
Iyorvin
Auto voting every 12 hours? Not cheating so long as the IMMS dont' tell you how, at least so far as ever being caught. AR-no hate, but I like to think we came here to produce a mud that is better then its AR counterpart. Now I KNOW this isn't even a question, it is to all the new players who are now reading the standands and seeing both same-type muds, and seeing one on top of the other. SO VOTE! J.Twendrist
Ar came from Carrion fields, and we came from ar. Come on Philip, due to certain people we know you should know that.
