KRins
I didn't know that it was generally frowned upon to switch. I'm aware that you can't just change cabals, but I assumed it was cool since the clanguards still give you the whole, "pay me and you're in" thing. Iyorvin
Well, if you don't get caught it's alright. Comaton did that. Went from despair to hourglass to despair, and I dont' think it was really caught at all. He ended up getting into Nexus and going quite far. KRins
oh...cool then. Just checking if it was maybe cool at low ranks and not cool higher up or something like that.
The Forsaken
Hah, I payed 30k just to get in a clan and beat on somebody once, then payed the cash to get back into the other. Don't tell any of the IMM's though....shhhhh....
Zavero
I've thought about doing that before. But usually if I get into a clan, the whole purpose of my characters role play is prob leaned towards joining the clan. So I would be breaking role play like it isn't funny if I did. However I don't see a problem with changing clans or even cabals if you are able, because things change, people change, and circumstances change. However, I'm not saying it's not against the rules, but I would think an immortal of a cabal frowns upon it if you were in one clan and went to another. But I am not an immortal, just assuming. Iyorvin
That's how I've always viewed it Zavero. I create my chars, although being dynamic, keep a structured rp from the start. Changing clans is really just breaking that. But some can embrace that crazy dynamic type.
Malchaeius
Do not make a habit of it. It is frowned upon unless it is a special case. If I find someone doing it, they will have the hardest time getting caballed.
Pieman
Well, back with Zimkista he kinda had a mid-life crisis. Starting in Despair, then I went to...THE ACADEMY!?! Then finally into tribunal.
Guest emp_newb
Hah, I payed 30k just to get in a clan and beat on somebody once, then payed the cash to get back into the other. Don't tell any of the IMM's though....shhhhh.... I have done that a few times, only with my syndi hopefuls and only to get a contract, I realize it whipes my clan quest record, but I will only do it if it fits the nature and rp of that particular care. Questioner
I've changed clans on three characters only because on the first I didn't know what clan I wanted to be in and it was my first character. I learned but then on my second character I changed clans again and possibly a third time later due to an rp crisis that is having trouble working. Course there is that rank forty thief who can't make up his mind. Eshaine asked me why I changed clans and I gave her my honest-to-chayesh answer. I was a mixed up lowbie. The Forsaken
Nah...what people don't realize is that the clan guards hang on to the gold...switch clans, get your pk, kill the guard, take back your gold.
savnt
I've gotten roughly fourteen assassinations from paying my way in to clans.
KRins
well...I think its kinda weird that you can't change clans without someone getting ticked. I mean, the guard offers you to change. If it is gonna hurt your chances for the cabal associated with it, then don't allow a change. I think if a certain cabal seems inactive or something along those lines you should be allowed to change half a billion times if you got the gold to do it. Malchaeius
Krins, and anyone else who switches clans based on that principle, you all obviously have a misconception on the RP behind cabal/clan membership.
kahlos
Apparently this has been fixed.. I tried it and the clan guard mob made fun of me and kept my freakin 30k.
The Lemming
Apparently this has been fixed.. I tried it and the clan guard mob made fun of me and kept my freakin 30k. Yep That happens to me too. Incidently I dont think there should be any penalty for changing out of the academy at a certian rank. Honestly that clan is all about learning so you can make better choices... Not to mention it lets you in even though you may not be able to join the hearalds due to ethos. Malchaeius
Due to certain people who would pay into clans for purposes of blackjacking/pks/assassinations (read above posts), I made a silent change to the clan guardians. It was a silent change because people should know better. We do not allow people to switch cabals on a whim, so why would we allow for clan switching on a whim? It is abusive behavior. So a lot of people took a 30k gold hit to the pocket. As it stands, there are no preventative measures for people who join the academy in terms of joining other clans. Do not abuse this. If it becomes clear that people are only going to use this as a loophole, then I will make another silent change - and I promise you it will be much nastier than a 30k gold hit to the pocket. Tantangel
Clan Guard reaches out of the shadows and +++ASSASSINATES+++ you! Clan Guard gets all your **** from your corpse. Clan Guard advances himself to lvl 60. Clan Guard gains 70/70 hit/dam and says **** off.
L-A
A big thank you goes out to the big -M- for his demon-like sense of humor in this matter. I will also give a big F*** YOU to all the @$$ HATS who saw fit to abuse this (this means you Savnt) causing -M- to make the change. I think the term 'f***ing grubs' is too good for you. Go play AR and leave us alone. This is a quality MUD and you have no place here. Thanks for letting me get my daily rant against cheater out of my system. Please drive through. Cheers, L-A
