Exotic warrior lore disarm

As it stands, I think the exotic warrior lore (disarm) is way too strong of a skill considering its current state.

Here is my reasoning:

  1. It disarms noremove weapons (like other similar abilities)

  2. It steals weapons without the noremove flag (unlike other similar abilities*)

  3. It is extremely reliable (unlike other similar abilities*)

And here are my suggestions on how to balance this.

a.) remove completely the stealing part of the skill

b.) make the skill much less reliable

c.) give the skill 3 or even 4 rounds of lag

*other similar abilities - blademasters in ironarm and monks in dragon stance

I wonder why the lore was boosted to begin with. When I think of bad warrior lores, I think of powergrip, focused bash, things like that.

All of my warriors always chose exotic mastery (and I've played a few decent warriors!) and I thought the lore was pretty good. It wasn't overpowered like weapon lock, but was decently balanced.

Does it really need to disarm noremove? If so, maybe just have it deflect or something instead.

The ability to steal nodrop is really enough though, I think.

Does it work with Praetorian Elder skill and Barbarian Trusted skill?

Praetorian elder skill already disarms said weapons without that lore.

As a friend also commented about this...How does the warrior actually grab the weapon when blinded?

The weapongrap part has always been a part of this lore.

I've not really had troubles fighting exotic warriors in the past, even after it was upgraded to also disarm noremoves to the wielder's inventory. We did this upgrade maybe ... 2 years ago? 1 year ago? ... and it wasn't really a problem up until now. Most melee will wear a noremove in the first hand, this is why we upgraded that lore. Weaponseize does not work on offhand disarm (or I'm relatively sure it doesn't).

The skill has to roll twice btw, opposed to normal disarm, so it's chance should be a lot lower than a normal disarm already.

The weapongrap part does not work with other automatic disarms.

@Morlhach could you give us a comparison of the exotic diarm chance of a noremove compared to an ironarm or dragon disarm? That would interest me too.

When the upgrade was made, it should've been left only with it - disarming noremoves without stealing weapons. Both effects give them quite the edge over almost everyone who hasn't had the chance to find a noremove, or likes a cursed only weapon.  And it does work on offhand as well. Also the rate it has been successful against my char from both Ashuga and Raynald while he was still a warrior has been 96%. Even him wearing rags, was able to successfully disarm me everytime while stealing my cursed weapons, wielding a marmalade orb...And I had some armors...

Unless I am mistaken only nodrop weapons or weapons without any such flags can be stolen.

FWIW, before everyone starts believing all the bad information here: Exotic no-remove disarm only works when 'disarm' is typed. This means that IT WILL NOT REMOVE NODISARM WEAPONS FROM THE OFFHAND.

Secondly, the chances, since everyone seems to think it's better than all the other disarm trees:

Blademaster is 75% chance.

Monk is 60% chance.

Exotic disarm is 45% chance when mastered. If not mastered, it scales depending on skill %.

Maybe I did not say it right...I don't claim it disarms noremove weapons from your offhand...only that it still steals no drop and normal weapons, when offhand disarm is successful.

And again I only expressed my opinion, based on my recent experience in fighting them both. Maybe my character was easy to disarm...I have no idea. I only know it worked 9 out of 10 times. No recent experience in fighting a bladmaster with iron arm, but I fought Tarsonis a few times. He disarmed me with dragon stance easily as well. And Morl...I'm starting to think you want me to stop posting at all. If that is the case, I will...just say the word.

For those of you who are code mongrels, you can see for yourself:

2905 else if ( wield != NULL && (wield->value[0] == WEAPON_EXOTIC &&
2906 get_skill(ch, gsn_exotic_mastery) > 1) &&
2907 (number_percent() > 55) && (number_percent() get_skill(ch, sn))){
2908 check_improve(ch, sn, TRUE, 0);
2909 fNoDisarm = TRUE;
2910 act("With a flick of $p $n forces $N's weapon out of $S hand.", ch, wield, victim, TO_NOTVICT);
2911 act("With a flick of $p $n forces you to drop your weapon.",ch, wield, victim, TO_VICT);
2912 act("With a flick of $p you force $N's weapon out of $S hand.", ch, wield, victim, TO_CHAR);
2913 }
2914 else{
2915 act("$S weapon won't budge!",ch,NULL,victim,TO_CHAR);
2916 act("$n tries to disarm you, but your weapon won't budge!",ch,NULL,victim,TO_VICT);
2917 act("$n tries to disarm $N, but fails.",ch,NULL,victim,TO_NOTVICT);
2918 return FALSE;
2919 }
2920 }

I have no idea what that is, but I know that his issue can be fixed real easy with a slight tweak - just make the lore not attempt to steal the weapon, while the warrior using it is blinded. Following logic, there is no way for someone with dirt and small rocks in his eyes to steal your weapon while he is disarming you...blinded. I will clarify again that this is just my opinion on things and I am not trying to miss lead anyone with false information.

I should've stayed away from the forum...

I like your last idea, myself. I also think that offhand disarm should not seize the weapon at all, if it does it now (I am unsure myself if it does). Weaponseize should just trigger when disarm is used, but I think this is the case already from what Morl posted.

I am prettttty sure that Raynald disarmed my offhand Kleefer and stole it, while I was wearing a no remove as a main. I'm sure you guys can test it out yourselves.

If we were to follow logic, I should disable the following skills while blinded:

Bash.

Disarm.

Bodyslam.

Thrust.

Kick.

..Any other skill that's logical to miss if dirt is in someone's eyes (or they're magically blinded..)

Okay...I was trying to be constructive and these are the replies I get. I'm done posting.

So a blm will only fail iron arm 25% of the time and the warrior will fail 55% of the time ( that's double+ failure rate over blm). Ok, that convinces me.

Off-hand no-drop uncursed weapon seize off-Hand-Disarm is ok by me. Just get a cursed weapon, a shield or risk a two handed. At least compared to ice-storm/Weapon cleave you can retrieve the weapon if you kill them. Remenber monks can disarm while applying a passive stun lock by chackeras and BLM get 100% 1 round of lag on enemy on ironarm disarm. Hum... i should play more blademasters.

I dont see why if it works on primary weapons it shouldnt work on secondary weapons. Disarm is the same whichever hand you focus on...

Im not currently playing but IMO when it comes to balance there will always be some lores that are more OP. Instead of nerfing them I suggest just buff everything. Players are generally happier if everything is OP compared to just some things or nothing at all.

Easy there, tiger...You are following logic ;)
