egreir
Thanks for all the RP and PK, guys. Was fun for a while. I'll probably check back in once the new end game area and stuff come in, but 90% of my time was just spent idling around. Probably better I focus on work, considering I'm sitting here trying to catch up on last month's quarterly business reviews lol Had a very positive experience, kudos to the staff and players alike. I dropped all, sac'd all so should be some caster rares back around.
egreir
[ 0] Llothoria: Day 1 in Aabahran Sun Jun 12 01:04:13 2016 To: Immortal Day 1: A strange, unapologizing chaotic force twisted my soft being and pulled me through the nether, spatting me out into an unfamiliar world. It is not the first time I have been summoned, yet there was something different about this. I quickly realized my true form needed to be veiled from onlookers in this place and thus I morphed into a typical, common drow as to not cause any suspicion. The mark of the Battlemage was known to me as I came upon a scroll near the fountain of the town I had been summoned into. I quickly made my way to it and chatted among the locals, learning what I could of my surroundings and gaining some insight into what I was needing to do next. Until the one who has summoned me makes himself or herself known to me I must come to terms with this new world and strengthen the powers I have. 367hp 718m 451mv 17hour journal read 1 [ 1] Llothoria: Day 2: The Taste of Betrayal Wed Jun 15 06:17:13 2016 To: Immortal Day 2: As much as I despise the stench of half-borns, I agreed to join forces with a fledgling necromancer. He seemed lost and unsure where to go, so I directed him. Immediately as I set my gaze upon him, I knew there would be some manner of chaos, be it from his hand or mine own. It was like most other boring adventures I'd let myself be talked into as of late. Walk there, kill this helpess being, move here, kill the next. I do enjoy a good shower of blood but where is the purpose in any of this? I was given the chance to earn some currency and recognition by completing a task for the Hourglass which I've recently decided to join, I figure they could teach me a bit about the world I've landed in. The half-born stubbornly asked why I was dragging him through the mountains...it's here that I now realize I wanted to kill him. The Spider Queen must have sensed my desire to betray this dirty blooded creature and actually hastened things from what the half-blood told me as he died. I think I am beginning to enjoy this place, Aabahran... 367hp 718m 451mv 17hour journal read 2 [ 2] Llothoria: Day 3: Experience is Wisdom Fri Jun 17 20:59:53 2016 To: Immortal Day 3: After my trial with the ninja that the Spider Queen sent after me was complete, I became aware that I'm still ignorant of many things in this world. Savant Tower, I learned, was home to the most amazing tomes and knowledge there was. I sought out the Hourglass Headquarters where they insisted I bring them some form of currency. Luckily the ninja had carried quite a fortune...perhaps that is why my Queen staged the battle, knowing I would need this. I handed over the paltry sum of gold and was given admittance inside. A humble building, yet I could sense an air of intellect within it. Many tasks I was given and I was able to complete them all with relative ease. The beings of this realm seem to think themselves clever, yet their riddles spoke like that of children to me. I scribed a letter to the Tower, making my presence and my desires known. I can only wait now and continue to prove my worth to my Queen, perhaps once I have finished with the Battlemage and Hourglass, my true purpose will be revealed and I may carry out what I was summoned for. 367hp 718m 451mv 17hour journal read 3 [ 3] SAVANT Llothoria: Day 4: A Price to Pay Tue Jun 21 05:15:19 2016 To: Immortal Day 4: The Savants heeded my call and allowed me entrance into their libraries. I had only just entered into the doors of this room full of dusty tomes when the Elemental who guards the Tower began crying for assistance. Now, what care I have for this Elemental is very little, yet what terms I gave the Savants to allow me entrance was clear, I would aid in their war with the savage Warmsters. First, the Warlord came. It was ALMOST impressive, what he was able to do in battle. Yet all things come in time and his death was no exception. Then, the monk Ysidro, I put him down easily. Third, a berserker named Vurvish, I did away with him as well. I am beginning to wonder, my Queen, who it is that got the better deal, the Savants or us. Be that what it is I have now begun to dig into these tomes. Perhaps I will come to a better understanding of this plane enough time in here. 367hp 718m 451mv 17hour journal read 4 [ 4] SAVANT Llothoria: Day 5: In hiding... My debt to the Savants for giving me access to the libraries has been paid, the Warmasters are found scattered and running for the hills from whence they came. Now I must set my focus upon the task my Queen has provided. It comes with no surprise that she wishes to be done with and send the false prince to the void. To accomplish this she has tasked me with finding a way to bring her closer to the Nexus. To what end this will serve, I know not, and care not. The Queen speaks and I listen. I've already begun infiltrating the dark army, it appears there is the workings of a coup afoot. Many members of the dark army already give voice to their desire to see the Demon Lord, this false prince Volgrathas, vanquished. And so my quest begins, aided by the subtle manipulations I've come to be able to apply to the time stream, I feel as though I will be able to uncover the secrets behind the what guards the Nexus and deliver it unto my Queen. 367hp 718m 451mv 17hour journal read 6 [ 6] TEMPORUM Llothoria: Day 7: The Betrayal Begins Mon Jun 27 22:27:00 2016 To: Immortal Trogir, one I suppose I could have considered an ally, as it turns out is conspiring against me. As easily as I betray, so too are those around me seeking their own personal agendas. I believe Draug's intent to overthrow the false prince to be genuine. Pas I still am unsure of. I must find a way to make the golem prove its loyalties beyond question. Until then I will continue to play on Trogir's ignorance as he believes a alliance with Nexus will benefit his faith in Volgathras, in fact, this alliance will only strengthen My Queen's pursuit of the Nexus. 367hp 718m 451mv 17hour journal read 7 [ 7] TEMPORUM Llothoria: Day 8: The Plan Takes Shape Fri Jul 1 22:41:29 2016 To: Immortal Day 8: Sitting within the libraries studying on temporal manifestations and transmogfrications I was suddenly whisked away and returned to the spider pits where my Queen stood. Pas will not attempt to find items that have a direct connection with Volgathras so that we may use these items to draw at his soul and seperate the Demon from his powers. Draug will continue to slowly build up the malice that him and the false prince share between them, so that when the time is come, Volgathras can be led near the coffin that once housed the demon. I continue to seek me information and control over the rivers of time. I have reached a point I am struggling to pass. I've reached out to the Seers and requested to become a Temporum with a more trusted level of access. Pas is not to be trusted. I've been able to get it to say definitively that it will not aid the Spider Queen. The Golem is not prone to emotion, thus my doubts on why it would turn against the false prince were valid. My suspicions have thusly been confirmed. Pas thinks itself a master of betrayal but those who were not born and molded by it do not understand it's multi-layered designs. I sought out the Golem and we did battle. It nearly fell before sending itself skyrocketing towards the town of Tarandue before bouncing off somewhere else unknown. My service to my Queen is not complete. egreir
restring app: Among all of the drow and spider queen's followers, none are more loyal than that of the yochlol. Chosen from among only the most fervant of followers, the yochlol are suited to serve those that summon them, aiding in battle or in whatever quest they are made privy to. Able to take on multiple forms, a yochlol's true appearance is that of an ooze-like creature with a large eye in its center of mass. However, when necessary, they are able to take on an elven form, almost always in the form of a drow. Our story focuses on one such yochlol, a young tanar'ri that has spent her entire life serving Lloth, from the moment she entered the world, taking her mother's life with her at childbirth, her vileness was made evident early on. Even named after the Spider Queen herself, Llothoria was given the blessing of entering the realm of the yochlol soon after gaining entrance to the guild of battlemages. Like most other yochlol, her psionic abilities were without doubt. Able to bend metals and glass to her will she serves whoever summons her very well. Yet the question is why she has entered the realm of Aabahran and who has summoned her? To what end? Her story has only yet begun...
Trick
Llothoria was a great character when you were interested in her. Very strong in PK and in RP all around, but I feel like there were times when general boredom took over and took you away from your RP and it was noticeable. Certain things you would say would feel like the player was saying them and then there were things you'd say that would make me feel like it was the character. In the future, I would try to be mindful of that. Very well written journals and application. I genuinely had a good experience whenever you were on. That's about as successful as a character can get in my opinion. If a character makes other players enjoy their time in the game, then in my opinion, that's a success. Short lived, but if its affecting your work, then you need to take a step back until you have the appropriate free time. Looking forward to your next! KUDOS! egreir
You know you liked being tickled lol I didn't want a yochlol that was all doom and gloom and so serious...she was played very much as a witty trickster. That's not to say I didn't get bored and blur the lines sometimes that I wasn't aware of ...but I think the general perception was that I was supposed to be some super serious doomsday messenger...when really I was just out there to frustrate, betray, outsmart, and infuriate people. Dismounting and running by you and tickling you was supposed to be her way of saying hah-hah, catch me if you can!
f0xx
The journal entries were boring AF at the start, but boy they advanced quickly and I found myself enjoying them greatly. And the more I ponder them, the more I realise that a well written journal should be exactly like that. Well done on that part. One can truly sense you were enjoying the character and putting your heart in it. That being said, I have a few remarks, to go together with what Trick said: 1) A yochlol is a demon, and from your app and journal entries, you know that perfectly well. This here perhaps is a fault of the IMMs, but IMO, you should have applied for demon and THEN for a yochlol restring. I have applied for spectre before and my app has been rejected with the reason that a spectre is a type of undead. A yochlol is a type of demon, it makes no sense that its base race is a drow. 2) I understand your desire for "uniqueness", but wanting to play the kind of a yochlol as you described it, is like playing a vegan lion. Some lines should just not be crossed. Also, keep in mind that playing "outside the norm" is easy. What is hard is to play a stereotype. Playing a drow like a drow, playing a demon like a demon - playing by the rules is where the hard part is, because you open yourself to people's expectations, to being judged. Being "unique" is easy, because you are shielded from people's critique. That being said, I enjoyed my interactions with Llothoria, and ingame, I saw nothing but classy behaviour from her. Also, notice how we have moved away from discussing trashy behaviour and PKs and moved towards discussing RP? That should speak a lot about your growth as a player. KUDOS! egreir
F0xx your personal issues with me affect your judgement. Ive always had good rp. The imms didnt customize a class just for me simply because they like me. And that was like two years ago. Ive always been an active PKer but to pretend like me RPing is something new is just your biased opinion towards me. As for being unique vs cookie cutter....thats a matter of opinion. Being a me smash me dumb Ogre is easy. Putting a unique flair and twist on something is where the fun is, for me and for others.
f0xx
Why so defensive mate? I give you props, and you tell me I have personal issues with you. The irony is strong. As for Heiku, since you brought it - the IMMs customized a race for you, because your RP was not suitable for the demon which you applied, but they didn't want to let your effort go to waste (since investing so much RP in a character was indeed something new for you ). IF it was as good as you claim it to be, you would have gotten what you applied for, don't you think? Unique vs cookie cutter.... man, the way you put it does sound bad indeed. But when you think about it, when there are so few people playing the stereotype and so many going for the "unique RP", then which one is actually unique? Ogres are so much more than "me smash" and I think Thulgan proved it.
egreir
There's no irony, I highly dislike you. I just don't need to hide like you, so I can say it out loud, but you can't...that's not irony, it's hypocrisy. You forever like to take jabs at me and when I call you out on it, you play your passive aggressive games and hide behind some other argument. You've done it for years. You don't like me, I don't like you...that's how the world works, but don't pretend to be innocent and make it out like I've been around this game trash-PKing and full looting and just now have started to RP a little. I've had multiple cabal Ls and Es. I've had every q-thing possible. I've been PK'ing AND RPing in this game for years. Whether you wan't to split hairs and say i've 60% PK 40% RP or whatever is neither here nor there. So just stop already with the jabs, no one cares what you think about me and it's a waste of my time to sit here and reply to you, but that's my nature and I won't just ignore your pettiness. And I wasn't talking about Heiku...just shows how much you know. They didn't customize his race at all, so not sure what you're even talking about. Heiku was 100% a human dk. The fact you think his race was modified somehow is a compliment. Thank you. Heiku WAS given a custom imm created item for his RP...and a title I think...that was about it for him. I don't even think I ever applied for Demon with him. To the point - I was given a customized class on a different character. Not a race, not a restring, not an item...a class. A combination of skills and spells that no one had ever had before and has never had since. 100% because of my RP. http://theforsakenlands.com/community/index.php?/topic/22938-knock-knock-can-your-demon-come-out-to-play/ http://theforsakenlands.com/community/index.php?/topic/21901-alehkzan-possessed/ http://theforsakenlands.com/community/index.php?/topic/21877-dont-drink-the-water/ http://theforsakenlands.com/community/index.php?/topic/21743-alehkzans-locket-returned-yet-still-unopened/ Six years ago and I was RPing my tail off...so why you think you need to come on a character post of mine and act like this is new to me...just shows the truth behind your intent and words. For the sake of the forum rules I'll drop it here, but do yourself a favor and be real. Stop pretending to be some moral pillar of this community. Yeah, if you're referring to Heiku I was given an item that I could use on other people to make them enlarged. Couldn't use it on myself, although I tried!! Alehkzan was an interesting character I pulled off, I rolled a human paladin that had "lost" his memory. His memories were held in a locket that he couldn't open. He was actually born in a ritual as a sacrifice to Volgathras but was saved by his father at the last minute, but not before being struck and losing his memory. He was rescued and raised by the paladin guild, but he had the bloodline of elder dark knights. Had a fully fleshed out backstory on this guy but lost between computers. My goal with the character was to play as the paladin at 30, RP his demonic posession and take over by Demons, and then become a Demon DK. The IMMs instead did something pretty cool, although I opted to not play it. Instead of being a paladin, or a DK...I was given a mixture of both spell and skill sets. I don't have the log anymore of exactly what it was, but that's essentially what it became - a DK/Paladin hybrid. A tip to anyone wanting to create more dynamic RP situations..really get creative with smotes. Here's a section from probably the most realistic RP I've ever been involved in...the motions Alehkzan was being put through weren't from imm echos or anything, they were my smotes/pmotes Shufei rides in. Shufei sheathes his weapon. [Volgathras] 'I rather enjoy whatever it is that plagues you, paladin.' Shufei peers around himself intently. Shufei looks at you. Shufei looks at alehkzan in alarm 'Are you alright there? A Storm Giant guard walks south. A blanket of darkness settles in on the Square and Alehkzan hides himself under the nearby fountain rim. Brrrrrrrrr. Shufei's entire body shivers uncontrollably ' who goes there? Alehkzan says timidly, 'Please...no... Alehkzan twitches uncontrollably, 'Bernath, make it stop...' Alehkzan looks helplessly to the dragon on his shoulder. Shufei looks at you. Heureush rides in. Alehkzan looks helplessly to the dragon on his shoulder. Heureush peers around himself intently. Alehkzan is suddenly jerked back as if pushed or pulled by some unseen force. Your view through your helmet is clouded by your breath. Heureush narrows his eyelids as his eyes begin to brighten. Shufei shakes you by the shoulders 'Snap out of it. Alehkzan cries, 'Please, hel...' His words are cut off suddenly as he finds himself unable to speka. The Golden Banner of Val Miran flaps triumphantly in the city's glorious winds. Shufei seemingly whispers in two separate voices ' there is nothing here. As if he had wings, Alehkzan is tossed into the air. Bad intentions fill the Square as he is thrashed violenty from west to east by an unseen force. Shufei looks at Heureush. Heureush peers around himself intently. Heureush shakes his head and says 'This bad. This very bad' Shufei looks at your body as it is thrashed from left to right 'Oh my. Heureush sits down and thinks deeply. Screams fill the Square as Alehkzan cries out, his helpless body suspended above the fountain. The Golden Banner of Val Miran flaps triumphantly in the city's glorious winds. Heureush narrows his eyes even further and takes a step towards the fountain. Shufei yells 'UNHAND HIM YOU COWARD! WHAT HAS HE EVER DONE TO YOU! Maddening laughter echoes from the fountain as Alehkzan is tossed into it. *SPLASH* A snarl curls Heureush's lips as he watches you fall into the water. Shufei peers around himself intently. 'THIS NOT RIGHT!' Heureush screams as he rushes to the fountain. The laughter fades into silence and is soon gone. Alehkzan's hand can be seen on the fountain rim. Shufei helps up you 'Are you alright? Heureush closely scans the area as if something is still wrong. Water dripping from his clothes and blood streaming from a gash on his forhead, Alehkzan manages to get out of the fountain with Shufei's assistance. I made this one take the form of a drow. 2) Llothoria played the part of the yochlol fine. Very, as you put it, stereotypical. Servant of Lloth. Manipulative. Misdirection of enemies to fight each other. You generally have great insight and are a very logical person. Don't backhand compliment players, though, as if you know what was told to them by the immortal who set them on the path. That said... Egreir, you don't need to exacerbate it with the digs at f0xx. Celerity
Not to throw a wrench into FL's drow lore, but when Kaylia was 'blessed' by Lloth, she become a demon base race half-spider thing. Which I assume is a yochol? I'm not really sure about drow lore outside of FL. Lloth was clearly a 'demon' base race at that time, and I was encouraged to aid demons in order to help create a demonic dimension - i.g. bring Lloth into the game -, so in f0xx's defense, his logic is consistent with FL history. I spent real life years on this task while playing a drow as a drow.
Lloth
A Yochlol is not a spider demon in previous lore. Drider are the spider demons. A Yochlol is a shapeshifter. It is a demon, but I bound this one to the form of a drowess. The Lloth you tried to summon doesn't exist anymore, and quite publicly so, in game standards. Straight from the source... Quote Like all tanar'ri, yochlols were chaotic evil creatures. They relished dominating other creatures. They were cruel and enjoyed a good battle. Summoned yochlols were compelled to faithfully serve one deed to their summoner, but they took special delight in escaping the control of those who summoned them and wandering about free about the Prime Material Plane, causing chaos. Yochlols used various forms as disguises to carry out cunning ploys and evil subterfuges to turn beings to chaos and evil (or, occasionally, to randomly provide acts of kindness to mortals). Unless enemies of Lolth were present, yochlols did not engage in killing sprees or frenzies of mindless violence. Yochlol often hissed, whispered, or screamed when in combat, even telling their opponents their names, so that should the victim escape, he or she would fear the return of the yochlol My yochlols, as I have not fully assimilated the power of the old Lloth, are as such. Shapeshifting demons bound to Lloth. Their very existence is fueled by their connection to Lloth, making them slaves to her will. They serve as her handmaidens, and are sent out to put her plans and schemes into motion. They also test the loyalty of Lloth's subjects, and spread the majesty of their Goddess to the world, all to garner converts, slaves, and fear. Brofessor
Regardless of any Lore, the player was given the chance based on roleplay, and application. The journals are good reads, and show effort. I don't see why thi would be the target of skepticism. The character in question I only disagree with one thing really, and that is he wasn't all kill kill. The character was extremely aggressive, but that being said I don't really see any problem in the slightest with the aggression. It was well played, and felt like a character's actions, rather than a player. I enjoyed our fights, and interactions across 2 characters, and had looked forward to more.
