egreir
Well for one I think the ooc influence is part of it, once certain people see certain people are playing certain characters, they're prone to act differently. Also I just think that once you've announced you're done, for whatever reason, good or bad, that should be that. You shouldn't be able to come say you're done then go back like what you did, didn't happen. Lastly I just think it's poor sportsmanship. This is a competitive game, no matter who wants to disagree or argue, this is a competitive game and it's that competitive PK and hunt for glory that keeps so many of us coming back. If you forfeit in a sports tournament, you don't get to come back.
mya
Then go play. Most of us prefer for you to play than you not. It's mostly looking like a goodies party, some high powered active evils would be a nice addiction to it. A shame you revealed yourself. Still, just live and learn. egreir
I appreciate that, but a hypocrite is something I'm not. I believe those things I said. I forfeited Terrokant because of what I felt were unjust accusations/threats being made to me due to rules that subsequently were changed. An argument could be made that I overreacted, or whatever. But it's done and I've moved on to another couple projects/ideas.
FatMike
I stopped playing an avatar cause I got picked up to go back to the sandbox for another year. Thankfully my old heart wouldn't let them take me and I'm back home playing again(not as much as I'd like but playing again). I wouldn't want to bring him back for any reason but I also hope getting rid of him for said reason wouldn't be held against me if I wanted to apply for another q-thingy. That being said, if it's a rule rather than an exception that a person deletes/stops playing qraces after a short period of time I would expect it to be harder for them to get another simply because of the time the IMMs have to devote to giving them out in the first place. Trick
Real life reasons wouldn't be held against you. That's something out of your control. Terrokant was deleted because he was treated like a ganger for ganging. Just as I said in the PK-restriction threads, I am all for ganging. If the only way you can kill someone is to gang them, then by all means. But don't gang people that don't deserve it. But, if you gang then you should expect to be treated like someone that gangs. Plain and simple. This means you don't get the luxury of whining or complaining about being ganged, tagged, or whatever. You get what you give. Now, will characters react differently to a character that gangs you? More than likely. Why? Because you ganged them, lol. If you gang my main character, then I probably won't have a whole lot of sympathy if something unfortunate happens to you. Reputations for characters are just as fickle as they are for people in the real world. If you act a certain way, expect to be treated a certain way. You create a character to apply for X, and suddenly lots of X and a bazillion X applicants pop up. You can bet all those Elf warriors and paladins you see are Sadders applicants. I wonder how hard would be to code a command to search the last 3 months of loged in Pfiles and print a report of n Q-things and applicants. Something like: --------------------------- >Questroll Vampire Actives: 3 Messalanta Martineus ValadarVampire Applicants: 5 noobVamp Dakul PrincessPumpkin Vladd Igor Lich Actives: 0Lich Applicants: 1 badToTheBone -------------------------------- But withhold the players names when it's not a immortal typing the command. And having the command cost something like 50% of your HP and 1 full tick of lag, to prevent someone spaming it, After all checking Pfiles must tax heavily the CPU. Now that I think of it, we could also have one of those for Cabal. lol Way ahead of you mya. I coded a command like this ages ago. FWIW, these are the current active qraces (logged in the last 30 days) Demons: 2 Vampires: 1 Undead: 1 Lich: 1 Crusader: 3 Avatar: 2 Psionicist: 2 Tattoos: 4 (We don't keep up with activity here)

mya
Yes, it's nice for the imms, but if you guys don't tell, we don't know. Perhaps if the mud, exported this info somehow at reboot, and wrote it to a file/mem, and the players had a way to check. Also some others statistics might be interesting, like from the active players the % of goods/evils/neutrals and another with a % of active players with trance skill (mages vs meeles). Trick
I'm not sure how I feel about restricting the number of things. Part of me likes it because it means its a rare or coveted thing, but the other part of me feels like why stifle it? If the players end up creating an unintentional Era of Undead and we're swarmed with undead, lich, vamps then whats the problem? Denying an aspect of RP is a negative, in my opinion.(Except if you don't deserve anything) Its insanely annoying to see 5 Crusaders. I hate it.( I blame the Corimak crap for this. ) So, I get that, but demons, undead, lich, vampires? Ehh.. Just make it so that a cabal can only maintain one at a time. That way Knight can't have 3 Crusaders or Nexus have 3 vamps, etc. I dunno, storming of the brain.
Zavero
Semper Fi? If he's hanging out at Ft Bliss I doubt he's a Marine. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyhow, you sound like you're just as stubborn as always Zrothrum. Just play the damn demon that you spent hours getting. No one but who cares that they know what you play. Not to mention as much as there are networks of friends that play this game anyone who cared already knew.

Implementor Erelei Posted August 24, 2016 Implementor Report Share Posted August 24, 2016 Don't think anyone else has tried to get a qrace/class. A few failed their quests, unfortunately, but that's about it. Why do you think we're actively limiting them? It's very likely that anyone can be any qclass/race right now with how infrequent the current ones are (minus except maybe psions, and we rarely limit them anyway)

Tantangel
8 hours ago, Erelei said: Because my time is pretty much wasted interacting with said character, setting up continued RP, and including them in the future as the IMM who approved them (depending on the race/class approved). The other IMMs don't like wasting the time either. It's a lot of work. Does this not make sense to you? I think it really depends on the person who is playing them. When I get back from a break, I usually end up playing 2-3 characters to 50 before I finally try to go for a qclass/qrace. I don't necessarily agree that they should be required to have at least 1 PK to their name before doing so, because not everyone playing the character would consider it a necessity. Just because you're a character going for Vampire doesn't mean you should PK, perhaps they merely drink the victim over the course of their lifetime so it's a constant source of food. Therefore no PK at all, but enough RP to pull it off. If I'm applying at 50 for one to revert, I hate having to wait a long period of time to get approved because at 50 I get bored way too quickly to wait a week or more and that usually results in a new character because I'd rather train at least than wait hours just to finally get what I want as a reverted class. But that's just me.
