ajwetton
I was wondering if someone could give me the syntax to help me make my notes not look like **** I've been playing since high school but I never learned how to make the notes format into stuff like paragraphs and such note format makes it one long thing and I hate the way that looks. Any help would be great thanks.
Magick
Set up the paragraphs before hand, like on notepad. Format each paragraph individually. Then post them all.

Chayesh
Use notepad and using periods or asterisks or something make a line of characters 65-70 long. Then type your note and don't go past the end of the line of characters. Cut and paste each line as you typed it. Voila...nice neat notes.

If you use this method, keep in mind that the font you use could screw you up when you post it in game. Courier should be the default font for the mud, reguardless of which which client you use. Since each askii block is the same width as well, I'd suggest using it anyway.
Zrothum
This is how you do it to make it very sharp edge. Notepad Font - Lucida Console Regular 12 Type away and make sure that each line has it's last letter/number/symbol lined up with the line above it. Now Note to blah blah blah enter note subj blah blah blah enter highlight first line in notepad note + (copy first line from notepad) enter rinse and repeat, remember your blank note + for paragraph spaces OR....beg Behrens to get rid of the note + crap and make it "note edit" style
Iyorvin
I do microsoft word. Set right margin to 8.5, then your text will wrap after that and start anew. Times new roman works just fine, 12 pt font. Then put in 'note + ' infront of the first line, copy that and past it infront of all your lines. Then just copy paste into your client, and it will be formated already. If your client supports macros, hit enter after each line, then put 10 lines of note into a macro and just hit the macro , then do the next 10. Nightmare_from_hell
Don't format the notes before sending them. You don't have to. That will get rid of your problem as long as you keep it about 70 chars per line you will be fine.
WarriorCleric
I write it all in notepad first, and don't worry about any formatting except paragraphs. Then I copy the first paragraph into the client and format that, then do a note show and copy the now formated paragraph back into a new notepad, then clear my note and do the same for each paragraph to come. Then when I finally have it all done, I just recopy then formated paragraphs with a blank line inbetween each paragraph and call it a day. The MUD formats lines of text to 70 characters, thus, if you type less, you don't need to format, as mentioned before. But since you like to be thorough, go right ahead. zetakappa
Here's how I do my notes. Open Notepad (or gedit). First, I change the font to a monospace. Fixedsys works perfectly. Then I create a guide for the maximum line length. 123456789_ Then I paste these ten characters over a few times, so I know how much 60-70 characters is. The maximum is 70, but I like using 60 because it looks nicer and gives your words a bit of room to breathe. 123456789_123456789_123456789_123456789_123456789_123456789_ Then I write a totally awesome note about how much I hate goodie clerics, and how they should all rot. I was treated really poorly as a child. I didn't even get a car at 16, believe it or not!!!!!! And that's why my DK should be made into a bitchin' Vampire. Pleeeeeeeease, Uncle Chayesh?/?? Then I add the appropriate prefix to each line I'll be sending in, so it's easier to cut and paste each line into the client. 123456789_123456789_123456789_123456789_123456789_123456789_ app + Then I write a totally awesome note about how much I hate app + goodie clerics, and how they should all rot. I was treated app + really poorly as a child. I didn't even get a car at 16, app + believe it or not!!!!!! And that's why my DK should be made app + into a bitchin' Vampire. Pleeeeeeeease, Uncle Chayesh?/?? Then I alt-tab between the mud client and text editor, copying and pasting each line into the game. Then I send the note or whatever. Edit: Uhh. Usually notes should be more than one short paragraph, each paragraph seperated from the next by a blank line. I don't indent my paragraphs - maybe this is wrong, but I don't like indentations in e-documents.

I like the note format command, it helps keep thing pretty and uniform. It's not so much about being thorough as it is about not wanting to learn a new system.
