Mana shield, protective shield and maybe sanctuary all fell while I was taking a nap. And I absolutely refuse to run around poisoning myself, absolutely refuse so don't even suggest it. If that is all it would take for me to win a fight, then so be it I'll never win one because I am not going to poison myself. It is ridiculous. Yes, I am hard-headed but in all the years I have played on and off, I've never used one and will not start now.

C 'mana shield' would have saved your life after removing your staff. Followed by sanc then just fleeing til paralyze wears off.

There are some things that you could have done, and some of them are choices.
As an invoker your Firestorm will prevent her from ever hypnotizing you to sleep, there is no need for poison unless you need to chase.
I think you can even keep it up forever if you just recast it to expand.
And you don't even need firestorm, you can do well with saves against her. If you have the saves she will sweat hard to kill you. Aff and Mental. Just like you don't go against an invoker without AFF saves, you don't go against her without Mental and Afflictive saves, and good ones, because she has +1 to AFF and +2 to Mental (or did last time). But it all comes down to choices. HP/mana gear or saves gear.

To avoid that death it's hard. Chest advice of mana shield is golden. I will give you another, always have a way to grant instant sanctuary on you. Be it pill or herb. Same way for flight.

Recasting firestorm to expand does not reset or extend its duration, unless this has been changed in the last couple years.

 

My advice to the invoker: get cancellation to 100, and don't let your sanctuary duration drop below 4 hours; when it gets there manually cancel it and reapply.  This takes very little time and mana with a charged staff, and will generally mean that your sanc will outlast charm spells - to get rid of it they'd have to dispel you and risk knocking off the charm as well.

You are right Pali, you have to cancel and and recast to try to get +1 hours. I probably got confused with recasting it in battle to force flameblind. I probably just used autosneak to move and recast firestorm.

Also if I can get myself to use those god forsaken herbs, you guys sure can poison yourself.
 

Also, something not said. Invokers normally have the rare slots in inventory open. It's a good idea to use those to stock alternative saves equipment. There are many tricks to go the extra mile to get saves on mages. Like using a 1handed weapon and a saves shield or a held treasure.

I thinks Mental damage isn't stooped by Mana shield, but doesn't the other elemental damage get's blocked like the "Lelleiala's shock LACERATES you!" electrical and the "Lelleiala's pyrokinetic blast *** DEMOLISHES *** you!" that should be fire?
