kamikazi
I really dislike the fact that anyone and anything has easy access to paralyzis these days...It used to be something special. Link to comment
f0xx
I somewhat feel that bards being able to mod their instruments for paralysis + a song that can lag for 1 round through protective shield is a bit too much. What do you do against that, as a mage? Link to comment
kamikazi
What's even funnier...Help file says it damages the instrument, but it doesn't. The fact that bards can create 32 avg non rare vuln weapons for every vuln, that are noremove + paralysis + flameblind is just...funny. Saders and dark knight's can't do that and their weapons supposed to be special and take ages to raise in power. Bard just farms 5 rocks and voala. Link to comment

the_nightmare
This just shows how OP the instruments are, the invoker does almost the same damage hitting a vuln that Belderon does to him with hits. Funny as hell. The lag from the song is not 1 round it's 2 rounds because his instrument paralyses you. A drum tearing into your nerves Link to comment
hotspring monkey
AAaand we forget that instruments are a new weapon class. Everyone knows it. The difference lies there as bards know instruments @ 100% + possible items and all other know instruments at % 75. Bulls do shit. Link to comment
Lloth
Also, Belderon has very high saves. Also it does damage most instruments, just not the top material instruments. Play a bard and figure them out before talking about what their skills do and don't do. Belderon was hitting Ellix with a vuln, and Ellix was not defending well. Instruments are not a very offensive weapon, and everyone knows then at 75% intrinsically, which leads me to believe that Ellix has a few gaps in EQ that make it very hard to win a stand-still encounter in this matchup. Chesta6384
Gnomes vuln should not allow melee to hit THAT hard. Dwarves take that kind of damage from water bulb weapons. Link to comment
Kyzarius
What? That damage is spot on for vuln damage. I take that much on illithids vs their vuln. Ellis should of never stood toe to toe. As a caster you have to at some point flee and use consumables. If I was the invoker I would of kept withdrawing resetting firestorm and fleeing when he walks in. While keepimg an eye on his timers. Link to comment
Lloth
Why should one vuln not be hit as hard as another vuln? Ellix is not as experienced as Belderon, and made a very big strategic mistake, and you're all talking about nerfing Belderon, bards, or the gnome vuln, for it. Note to Ellix: you are learning, and massive props for your investment in improving. Don't let losses get to you. Try to look at why you are taking so many hits each round, and try to cover that gap. Invokers damage isn't tied to EQ outside of 1-2 pieces and your charged object. Which leaves defense as your focus. Keep diminishing returns in mind, and aim for a good balance in defensive stats. As well, look for items that will amplify skills or provide a special benefit outside of - AC or +HP to fight melees. Link to comment
Anonymous
He did well in an exchange earlier, I had to flee. Remember, as Belderon my vogue gives me haste so that's a big advantage for me. Use those ancient scrolls, nymph hearts, and anything else you can to heal. Also, try to kill Winston too. f0xx
Very big strategic mistake? Ellix was paralyzed and taking 2 rounds of lag from the lag song. You can not overcome that, no matter what you do. Kyzarius' advice is good. Once you get paralyzed though, you must beat it. Simple as that. Link to comment

The 2 round unstoppable lag is not OP f0xx, we just need to play the class to figure it out. But i forgot that dwarf bards cannot be played anymore, maybe because they are not OP? Enough of sarcasm here, I dare Belderon to identify his instrument and let us all see what I am talking about. Everything else said is rubbish and not constructive. If a warmaster (that is a cabal supposed to give tons of advantage vs casters) cannot stay in combat toe to toe with Ellix then why a bard should do it? (Singer who has tricks to catch criminals). I dont need to play a bard to see what their instruments do and how Belderon destroys everything in a melee fight. First of all their instrument should be of exotic weapon type, lets start with this. Second they shouldn't have fired weapons at all and also that easy access to unstoppable lag that when combined with paralyze is just ridicilous. Link to comment
Anonymous
Couple of things: 1. A bard has literally ZERO songs that are effective against any caster/communer. All the songs are designed against melee opponents. So, I have no choice but use drumroll and spam dissonance. I have nothing else available to me.. 2. Dwarf bards are OP. That is why they can't be played anymore and truthfully I am teetering on the decision to retire this character because of this. I don't want other people to not have fun because of me. 3. I have brought up some personal opinions regarding bards to the Staff. Mainly, number 1. But, it was expressed to me that the drumroll vogue is designed to be the melee output of the class while other vogues will find more success 4. It is not 2 rounds. 5. Paralyze does not land all the time, but I do think paralyze needs to be taken away and made more difficult to get OVERALL. I would like to see materials offer increase effectiveness to songs instead of adding procs. IE: Paralyze, flamebite, wound, etc. 6. Instruments should be left alone, with one MAJOR exception. They need to be rare if you create them with rare materials.(Excellent lumber or Motherlode or Motherlode. 7. Here is the weapon I used against Ellix: Quote Object 'instrument bongo percussion black opal' is type weapon, material black opal. Extra flags: glow hum nodrop noremove psienhance nouncurse. Weight is 3, value is 4, level is 50. Weapon type is two-handed instrument. Damage is 6d8 (average 27). Affects ac by -30. Affects savingspell by -10. Affects hitroll by 9. Affects str by 10. Affects hp by 51. Affects damroll by 3. Affects hitroll by 3. You have a feeling only a bard can use it. You determine that a black opal bongo won't ever crumble. Rumor has it you can find it in Limbo. Anonymous poster hash: e829f...dc9 Link to comment

Nobody sees issue with it that bards rock it at 100 while others do it at 75? Sure, enemy of guild X can use weapons Bard does not know. Well pfft. I guess my argument is useless as everyone knows their instruments. I do play a bard and PvE was better than anything I've ever played. ... till I rolled a new Ninja. LoL.
