The port was closed because of an issue that occured in the past. Things like cabal numbers and characters bled over to the real port. It was messy and took a long time to clean up, so I am not sure we will do that again.

I also thought of automation, but didn't have enough time between when HM was decided on and when it was made live. Next year I hope to have a system in place that will severely cut down on what you need imms for.

HM was great! I was Chucky and Help YoMama. Loved the games, the rewards, and the encouragement of ganging lol. Kamikaz the slith monk owned Chucky so hard. I rolled any combo to try out Syndicate which turned out to be Dwarf Paladin and somehow he was able to achieve so many things and had so much fun :)   King of Aabahran. Kinda wish this could happen more often during the year. Alldaybaby, Ogri, Falcor were all fun to play with. It was madness I tell you!

A few things that would help.

More Halloween weapons like polearms.

Easier access to get cabaled and cps when Imms aren't around.

Ways to let people know where the guy is that's supposed to be getting ganged.

Perhaps invite discussion as to what issues were discovered from all the testing during HM.

Oh man! I wish I wasn't traveling over the weekend, I wanted my rematch. Only one to get me. I wanted to try it without letting my green aura and lightning resist fall, lol.

I agree with the others. A mob and more weapon selection off the bat would have been nice. Maybe a different method of advancing? Seems like you can't touch rares until an immortal is around. But if you level to 15 or so on your own you can. Can only assume its imm wizardry.

Honestly, it was amazing. I was AllDayBaby and Falcor and seriously had a blast. Just the OOC interactions, the jokes, the atmosphere.. it was great. Can't wait until next year! I had so many great interactions that I was laughing my ass off 90% of the time. Seriously, well done to all the imms and players involved.

HM was SO amazing this year. I didn't really want to try anything too unusual.

Had three main characters - Donald Tump (knight BLM), Allahu Akbar (savant cleric) and Foxx (watcher invoker).

I wanted to play a bit more, but things got way too crazy in the end.

I am glad the IMMs embraced the idea of opening up stuff on HM. I managed to get my hands on two tattoos, but I think they weren't working properly, so I hope you allow them to work on next one. As someone mentioned above, and as was my original idea, some automation concerning cabal induction/promotion/CPs would be nice too, but I found the IMMs to be managing just fine (special shoutouts to Anume, Ulmy, Zoichan)

[edit] Oh and I think 3-4 days are a bit too much. I am glad the main port got opened at some point.

Lots of fun.  Probably the most fun I've had in HM.  Seems like I'll repeat the make cabals/qthings automated, as well as both CPs and skill%s for cabal skills (since it took forever with the lag of teach from cabal trainers).  Definitely wish there were other types of weapons as mentioned as well; polearms and shields and what-not.  I think 2 days would be a pretty sweet spot to catch as many people as possible without taking too much time away from the main port.

Would be cool to host some OOC events on that separate port sometimes.  Like 1 day during the testing of something major, people can be brought together to talk over concerns of the incoming changes and some feedback.

I had a blast personally.

They never did get me @Erelei.

?

Who did you play?

I played Flame, the FG dev zerk.

and tested Squid BMG. I had plans to make one on main. Not any more. They suck, in my view. But I didn't test them with leech or cone... but then again, I don't want to play a character that only works on 10% chance. Shock was nice, but it nowhere compensates for staff parry.

An application lets us know that you're interested in them. They're not required, but it doesn't hurt and usually helps. A talk with your religion IMM will also suffice. From there, it's a long, arduous journey to prove that you are the embodiment of your religion above all others.

Gotta figure out how to word it I guess.

Being creative will get you the best results. I know that's a hugely overused tip, but in the form of tattoos and religion it really is THE way to do it, in my opinion. You can only say " I fight in battles so give me combat tattoo" so many times before the IMMs get bored of it and it becomes too generic.

I am not sure I have the creative juices to turn something like "i fight in lots of battles all the time so give me the combat tattoo" into something flashy and pretty with all the bells and whistles.

Of course you do. The only difference is it might take you a little longer than others, that's all. But for something like a tattoo it should take you a little bit to write it out.

Some ideas for combat off the top of my head:

1. Describe a specific battle or war that created the basis of your belief system in Combat and Tongar. This can be massively descriptive.

2. Write it in an essay form and talk about how combat is not just a single action or battle, but a passing of the torch or the eternal flame of the fighting spirit. Go into the history section of the wiki and read the history. Talk about how whoever the first combat IMM was and how we got to Tongar.

3. Instead of a story(idea 1) or an essay(idea 2), make it feel like chapters of a book discussing war - Sun Tzu style. Don't plagiarize the Art of War, of course, but make it into why you think one way. Kuhng, for instance, could write a kick ass tattoo application discussing why he doesn't use weapons and how he feels TRUE combat is the use of his mind and body as one. Thus, transcending the necessity of weaponry. Or, you could write just the opposite as a blade master and discuss the importance of a combatant's connection with their weapon.

Take some time, brainstorm a few ideas, write 'em down and see what direction would be best for your character.

  • 2 weeks later...

I would like to open up the floor again for suggestions from the players for a small Christmas project. I am hoping to have a large release ready by then as well that Naruthiron worked on, but having lost the whole project,  I am having to start from scratch.

In the event that the current build team can't get it put together for Christmas, I would like to have something else to have for you all. You can pm me anything ICE related that you don't want to post publicly.
