It's important to note the difference between "hacked the dnc" and weaponized the materials. I have no doubt whatsoever that Russia and other foreign entities have hacked into plenty of American systems, and vice versa. Weaponizing the information is different though, and that is where I doubt Russia had anything to do with it, and even if they did, it doesn't really excuse the truth. Did we blame journalists back when they did the same thing to politicians? Now the politicians and the journalists are owned by the same folks and they're singing the same song. That in and of itself should send alarm bells ringing. Whoever released the info doesn't excuse the info itself, and that's what bothers me about the HRC situation. IF this gets ignored, as they are plainly willing to do, it will set a precedent that will lead to the death of not only accountability but freedom itself. We should all demand they both back out. Neither should be accepted as legitimate.

Another serious bother- Hillary has done -nothing- but sell what Trump might do to extinguish the questions of what she has done. Again, neither of them are worth the time of day and if people would just stop going along with it we could put this whole nightmare down.

Enthusiasm carried the day. It always does. People don't like the system, and rightfully so. That will for change really showed tonight, despite the overwhelming money, propaganda and scare tactics used against it. It was never about race, gender, education, religion, or anything else. It was all simply a reaction against a horribly corrupt system that has disenfranchised too many people for too long.

Well played, Trump. You just got leadered. Now let's see how you run the cabal.

I honestly, sincerely hope I am wrong about how bad I think this is going to be.  We have a Republican House, a Republican Senate, a soon-to-be conservative majority Supreme Court, and an ignorant narcissist Republican President.  We are in for at least 2 years of one-party rule, with that one party led by the worst candidate for President (and the most authoritarian) I've ever seen.  I really, really hope I'm wrong here.

I'll apply to this the same logic I apply to the game; it's the will of the people.

I may disagree, I may be shocked, and I may be scared for the future - but it is what we chose as a nation. But let you tell you that this is about race, about class, about nationalism and xenophobia. This was a silent, hidden revolution about all of those things from people who hadn't had a voice. This is a clear indication - to me - that a vast swathe of the nation felt downtrodden enough to make a stand, and they did.

I am very saddened by the result, but I signed up for this. I came back here from a very lucrative life abroad because I believe in the potential of this system. These results are amazing because they are the result of our system. It wasn't tampered (come on, the Russians can't really do shit, people) or bought. Everything that happens now has been our choice. That's incredible, and frightening.

It means there are a very great many people here I fundamentally, to the core of me, disagree with. I don't even know how to start a conversation with someone who would elect 'grabs you by the pussy' guy. That's the point! They haven't been part of the conversation, so they picked someone who would scream it for them. Bernie's checked, steadfast defiance of the system wasn't enough - people wanted to be mad, and they wanted to lash out.

These results are a reaction to a political system that has always been a mirror of the people. Politicians have always spouted rhetoric they know their constituency wants to hear. They know that, once they're in office, they're set (incumbent congressmen, for christ sake - hell, be honest, how many of you read up on the judges before confirming or denying?). It is up to the people to make their voices heard. We need to be educated enough, attentive enough, and civic-minded enough to participate in this wonderful system we've painstakingly built. We need to educate each other, and learn about how the other side really feels. We need compassion in a system we've fine-tuned to be contentious as shit. We need to set the tone of the conversation like what happened last night, but then we need to talk, accept, and have a real dialogue. We are a people who, for some reason, have decided that compromise is an evil word. Somehow, we've determined that giving ground for mutual benefit is a sign of weakness. We - the people who make this system work - are responsible for all of this. We need to start that dialogue, because the politicians won't. It's our responsibility to enact the change we want because despite all our bitching and our noise, Donald Trump's victory showed that we can decide our own fate.

The sad result is, this will probably change nothing. We'll decide to get angry at those idiots who let it happen. The winning side will take the losers for all their worth because no compromises! But maybe at least we'll learn a few more truths about this country.

I agree with this.

Please, let me be more wrong than I have ever been.  Because if I was right a lot of misery is on the way.
