Ambroas
Hate to but it has to be done, I'll be dropping down to one character and it'll be non-pk until January at the minimum. General Motors just went critical status which means 7 days a week 12 hours a day with a one hour drive each way, 5 kids who I'll now have maybe 2 hours with and the rest of the time dedicated to the wife. Once it's approved it lasts for 6 months before they have to request another approval of the status, good thing is a third shift starts in January so even if we work 7 days a week it'll be only 8 hours a day. I'll judge what I have time for then but just wanted to let everyone know I haven't quit if I don't get on here or in the game much.
Pali
FFS, man... don't drop dead from exhaustion. Those are slave labor hours.
Ambroas
I've done the hours before with other jobs but doing it on an assembly line is definitely harder. Oh and they can also work us through any scheduled holiday and cancel approved vacation. Trust me people are PISSED about it with the holidays coming up. Gaunticles
I hope they pay you well and you get tons of money from overtime.
Ambroas
@Zavero Yep, union. We're UAW, the status is approved by the national level GM and Union so not much our local chapter can do about it. @Gaunticles Oh they will pay well, triple pay on holidays which includes Election day and Veterans day, double pay every Sunday. mya
This kind of stuff would be illegal in my country. I feel extremely sorry for you. Even when I was doing 6 hours sleep last year I managed to still have a day off. On 05/11/2016 at 7:54 AM, f0xx said: Man, they gotta give me LOTS of money to make me work such hours. Nope I'm stuck here until I retire. Having a family means any new job would have to provide the same or close to the same amount of benefits. Pay starts at $17 tops at $29, free insurance, 3 bonuses a year the profit sharing one in March will be $12,000. I get double pay on Sundays/Holidays automatically and the choice on holidays to take either 8hr triple pay or double and 8hr added to my vacation available I took the Triple which means I made $408 dollars on Tuesday and Friday of this week, around here that's two paychecks for a lot of people. Just have to be grateful for what I have and suffer through the rest, two thousand people up north just got laid off from a GM plant because they made small cars which aren't selling right now and I could've been in those shoes right before Christmas for the third time in my life. Fool_Hardy
Just make sure your capping the match to your 401k, its usually based on % and people tend to set aside a set dollar amount. Make sure your getting the max "free money" during the busy season.
Ambroas
@Fool_Hardy They don't match 401k, instead they automatically put them in 6% and $1 for every hour worked. I'm putting in a lie amount because I wanted to save money for a deposit on a house. Once we buy and I know what my bills will be I'll adjust to them and increase it as I get raises. Any advice is welcome in this stuff, first good job I've had since the military so first time using retirement.
Fool_Hardy
I go for the slow and steady growth in my 401k, though I may adjust this now that the House and Senate are changing and the market seems to like the idea. My company matches 50% up to 6%. So I always put in 6% which effectively is 9%. My company does not allow you to say just take 6%, so I keep track of the math and adjust my withholding with each new pay advancement.
Celerity
Be very, very careful with stocks now. The market is extremely inflated already and we will probably see a major retraction soon enough.
