Magick
Confidence can go a long way. If you go into battle thinking you're going to lose, you're going to lose. You make mistakes, you die. You get frustrated, you make more mistakes. You die more. The cycle continues. Also, equipment can cover a number of flaws. Not all, but the difference is palpable. Anonymous
Just my two cents, and I am not an expert BMG player, but your AC does not seem anywhere high enough. People can claim diminishing returns all they want, but you would not be getting hit that much if your AC were closer to -600 or -700. At the very least, you're leaving an easy -40 on the table by not having stone skin. Get consumables for stone skin (there's a very easy to farm, multi-use one in the Elven Kingdom) and flesh armor (easy to farm in Escimir E'gal). I don't remember all the IDs on your gear, but it seems to me that you've got a fair amount of melee-slanted hybrid gear on. Focus on replacing these pieces: Cape of Black Dragonhide, Crystal Earrings of Undeath (unless their ID has changed significantly), and Tiamat's Skin. The Marble Ring also isn't that great - it's a bunch of HP, sure, but you're losing HP too face for that to matter. Personally, I'd rather have an extra -150 to -200 AC at the expense of the same amount in health. This is just speculation and my bad memory, but I was under the impression fury had to pass through your AC. Wouldn't hurt if he missed a few here and there. Also, like has been said, why are you fighting him in front of your cabal? You'd be better off letting him take your standard and retrieving it in the Ford. There are far fewer 1-2 exit rooms in his cabal area than in yours. It also gives you a little bit more breathing room when it comes to running blind. Just an observation, but you seem to get a bit flustered when you're blinded and have a hard time running away. Multi-exit rooms make that a little more survivable (and harder for him to place traps correctly). Finally, why aren't you using vuln weapons and/or weapons he doesn't know? I don't know what your wielded weapon is, but it better be a staff (thieves don't know it + most defensive weapon type = good use of your only melee defense). Soulblight's nice and all, but why not grab a fire weapon? There should be both an axe and a polearm that would be helpful. At the very least, use an axe (Divine Reckoning is the gold standard for a reason) since he won't defend as well against it. Everyone so far has talked a lot about your tactics, but what happens IN battle doesn't matter half as much as what you do BEFORE battle. Fix your prep and you'll do a lot better against him. You may not kill him - he's bound to be a bit squirrely, as a thief - but you won't be getting your butt kicked quite so hard. Anonymous poster hash: 6f4ec...ada Link to comment
