It's been fun, going to take a long needed break from FL

Well, here we are again, time to take a step back and take a break for a while, hopefully it's not 5 years this time. I must say, this time around it has been super exciting and overall my best experience RP wise. It's been lots of fun and hopefully, I helped stirred up the pot for a little bit and keep things fresh. It's always good when you get someone who hasn't played for a while splash around. I've said it before and I will say it again, the RP quality has truly been enhanced, things seem much more alive now. I love this community and wish you all the best, keep banging things out. Hats off to the Imm's and players alike really pushing the Mud's boundaries. I'll try my best to poke around on the forums and see what all the bickering is about from time to time :)

And thus, the sarcon cycle closes.

I will post here what I told you in a PM some time ago:

Quote

This is what I like about you - you are open minded and you let yourself learn and evolve. I always have a lot of fun when you return from one of your breaks, you really manage to stir things up - first by being rusty as hell and then by getting better and owning everyone.

Your main downside is that you go fast and furious and lack patience, and hence your characters lack longevity.

See you in a couple of years, hobbit.

I wouldn't consider this game stressful by any means. Building up a toon is fun, getting caught up in all the PK is great. Getting tied up with all the Cabal warfare is gold. The thrill of this game is the challenge, thus even if someone get's a kill on me, I get even more jacked and much more motivated to make adjustments. Even experience some trashy players willing to do anything to get a kill keeps things fresh and fun.  Sure, I probably put in 1500 Hours in a short period of time, but that's just how I roll. I go 0 to 100 real quick. My decision this time around is because of a few circumstances that have proved to be more troubles than it's worth. I come here to have fun, be challenged and push myself to have the best possible experience, the moment I feel that is being jeopardized it defeats my initial reason for being here. I will miss all the fun interactions I've had and I'm sure there will be another go in the future.

Fair enough.  I could point out that something being fun doesn't necessarily mean it isn't stressful, but... ;) It was just a thought.  If you feel the need for a break, I'm the last person to recommend against taking one - go back 6 months and I hadn't played in 4ish years.  Do what you feel you need to do, and come back when the time feels right. :)

Many talk about a work-life balance, but for you and your buddy, we'll need to introduce a mud-life balance yet ;)

I agree with Pali on this one, nobody should spend  weeks straight in front of a computer, and you guys seemed to be there whenever I logged on!

So, if you feel you need to take a break bc your mud hours are adding up to rediculous amounts, enjoy your break and try to find a middle ground to come back.

If you leave bc of that other issue, I already commented that on prayer, way to blow up a mosquito to dinosaur size.

Regarding game hours, I worked hard, started business's and made something of myself so I can pretty much do what I want, isn't that what we work for? I'm a work acholic most of the time and FL is actually my vacation. I don't really have the urge to go anywhere tropical or do lots of traveling, I just pick up my kids and be a big kid myself. This is how I do things, I go big, I go hard, then switch things up. Rince and Repeat. But always have fun doing whatever I'm doing. I soak up as much Gametime as possible because suddenly a new project can come up and I'll be sucked into that for a year or two and then poof 4-6 years go by and I completely forget about FL because yes, I immerse myself in whatever I'm doing. That's just me and I'll always be like that. AT times, it does seem like that type of gameplay get's penalized here, which shouldn't be the case, we are all different and all styles should be accepted. I have had 2 characters now, Yewtrunk and Osyn, both racked up 325+ hours each, lots of journals, character development, cabal notes, Cabal Journals, RP Logs etc.. Enough PK to push back the enemy completely, one of the longest running members within each cabal, yet still, no Elder. Now, let's not jump on the You need to deserve Elder train and it all depends on your Immortal, yes, I get all that. But, If I did the same hours, and spread that over 6 months? 8 months? Maybe then what? Would that have changed things? Seems like a punishment vs reward for dedicating myself to a toon. Now, let's be clear, by NO means did I dump Osyn because he didn't get elder, I still had LOT'S of content and shelf life left, I'm leaving for other issues on the prayer forums.

I've told you this in PMs but I will put it here as well. You, Suldaim and the psi got T's exactly in a week after you were accepted.

A month later you were already asking for E.

1.333345 Months @foxx get the fact straight:P I also didn't get T in a week, I got it after nearly 76 hours after becoming V if you really wanna get specific. You also have to understand this. There were 0 savants player and 9 ACTIVE warmasters and 2 active watchers oh and 3 active nexus. The moment I became a Savant, I was knee deep in the shizzit. If you have a cabal, and there are 0 members, promotions should obviously come a lot quicker because there is nobody. I'm not trying to say by any means just promote for the sake of promotion, but if your putting in work everyday, allday..(#AllDayBaby) you have to get some sort of reward. 90% OF people quit or rage delete when they are in that much warefare. Then, throw in that you are OUTNUMBERED 4-1 90% of the time(one week), or 4-2 80%(another week) or 5-2 50%(the next week) of the time and things get more crazy. Do you know how many times I was charged by Goruk, flee into Kelmi's traps, shot with arrows by Flabo? Or When Cenlar misses a strangle, Kelmi kicks dirts, Cenlar keeps flee murdering rounding me while I'm fighting kelmi? I've never been ganged this hard in a long time. This was by far the dirtiest cabal warfare I personally have ever encountered. I remember being the first Knight Doomblade once upon a time and dealing with something similar, but this was by far the worst.

Your talking about sometimes 5-9 hours of non-stop cabal warfare. It wasn't until I started full looting everyone when they died that finally there numbers got chopped down to 2 active players.  Do I think this deserves some promotions? You bet your ass I do. Most people don't have the stomach for non-stop war and quit the lands the second they see problems. We have a epidemic in FL right now, if you notice someone is a challenge you QUIT THE LANDS. I see it over and over and over again, so guess what, when I NEVER quit the lands no-matter who the opponent, help bring back a cabal from 0-100 really quick, ya I'm sorry, My bad, I want a little promotions to get some sort of recognition. The moment you don't reward people for their hard work effort, you will lose them, period, that's how life goes. However, even in Osyn's case after what I felt was a pretty strong showing, I still was cool with it and didn't let it affect me. I still have 12 journals on standby and a full character roadmap I didn't even finish. So again, there are times people are penalized because they don't shelf a character for a few months or make sure you only log in for 1 hour a day or 6 hours a week.

When I was with Yewtrunk I had to fight the biggest and baddest all the time. It didn't stop. Belderon, Raynald then I got all the syndicates coming after me, new Tribunals popping up every second. Did I run and tuck tale? No. I stood my ground and kept fighting over and over and over again, RP'd, Journals, in person RP, the whole nine yards, and again, still penalized because I did all that in 2.6 months. Now, granted there was no Watcher IMM, but for the love of brambus, help a treehugger out. All I'm saying is there are ALOt of factors involved when I'm start wonder why I'm not Elder yet in some circumstances.

I don't wanna say you are lying, but you are hugely twisting facts.

Most of the time it was Kelmi alone against you and Suldaim.

Also if you consider 90% of the time sitting camoed and 10% actual retrieving standard as "active cabal warfare", then I got nothing more to add really.

I just got T like.. yesterday, 266 RP and over 100 hours played in watcher (I don't stay logged in if there is not something to actively do). Had been V since level... 40? - which makes it almost 2 months. Positive k/d/r, active in cabal warfare - even if I can't make a whole lot of headway.

Never once have I brought it up before now, because I have only had the character for 2 and a half months, and my character is already something of an exception. We have that in common. I know that even now, I would think I would need more time and impact for T, if we are to be fair. Maybe it's because watcher is struggling, maybe it's because Treebeard likes my RP. Don't know, don't care, not my business.

Point being - you got T a whole lot faster, and in less hours, than any caballed character I have ever had (record breaking speed this go-round. My last T was....4 months/300 hours, which is about the norm across my caballed characters.

Now, I am not saying you didn't deserve it. Don't mistake my point with trying to tear you down. All I am saying is, you got there really quick, and to chase that next step even quicker? There are characters that live and die over 6 months or more, with great RP, that never reach that E promo. I think you'd enjoy the game more if you stopped seeing promos as checkpoints to measure success, or as some kind of barter with your cabal imm for services rendered.

You clearly weren't struggling for a foothold and needing E to fend off your enemies. So why not just play the character, and if you get E, you get it. Putting promotions on a pedestal is a recipe for heartbreak and frustration.
