Hello guys.

I don't mind doing a basic introduction here and being transparent now since I'll be doing staff stuff.  In case anyone is wondering, my forum handle used to be "Icor", and I still have that account here.  I played Irpel, Mathicus, Quoap, and Eril to name a few of my favorites.  I play a lot of Heralds, obviously, and that's because I'm a total wuss when it comes to PK.  I like writing though, and recently made the updated Elemental Canyon area.  I mean common, look at all those new relics.  I want to make more, and wouldn't mind hearing what you guys would want to see updated (that area with the Djinni bands is a place I want to revamp).

I'm going to play the same way I have been.  I will keep the 'goto' command (imm 'teleporting') to a minimum and try to stay visible as often as possible, running expeditions, writing the Chronicles in game, fighting mobs, paying gate golems to get places, etc.

Major shout-outs to Belderon, Karishin, Llothoria (there was a really good session with her a while back), Coren (wish that kept going, that was pretty cool), Draug, Ithakus, Giacomo (that was excellent too), Lykiss and Lisko for sure (Lisko is probably my favorite character... there is great personality in that toon, you can feel the quality bursting at the seams), Thorgrim was fantastic as well... there are more that I know I will think of later, I'll be sure to shout out there.  And to the imms, of course, for letting me start handing out RP rewards while playing a character I love and have been developing for months.

If anyone wants to read Acele's journals, or RP logs, please just say so here and I'll update this thread with the content.  I am very thorough when it comes to saving this stuff.  If you have any other questions, please ask.

Unfortunately none of my characters interacted with yours much, but I have always heard great things, and I think Elemental Canyon was done very well!

Congratulations on the promotion to a staff member, it seems you already have some plans in the works.

Personally, I would like to see a revamping of Hoan Dor, the place with the Djinn's, and Falen Dara. I think it would be nice to eventually have all the areas in Aabahran be unique and not hold over areas from its roots. While I enjoy and know the factions of Winter, the Citadel and Keep so well, I think over time we should endeavor to make them uniquely Aabahran, as has been done with the other areas.

I must say that when I have managed to interact with you as a character, you're hands down probably the best RPer here. You blow me away with your typing speed, which made my last encounter with you seem very one sided as I can't for the life of me manage to implement emotes/smotes and anything else in anywhere close to the speed you seem to be able to. If you're going to be updating areas, fix the music box to be something far more. I felt that it had so much potential when it was first put in, and maybe it does and I just never managed to get in and really discover it. The life you breathe into these characters is amazing and it feels a lot more like I'm interacting with an actual person than most face to face conversations I do have. I wouldn't mind taking a gander at your journals though. Granted they are probably going to take quite a bit of time to get through considering I read ever so slowly, but it might open new avenues of thinking for even future characters I create down the line.

Thank you Tantangel, that means a lot for me. :) I need to actually slow down, sometimes I think about a lot, but I don't "prune" it, and it doesn't come out looking very concise.  And it's overwhelming and I worry it's show-offy.  So I'm working on slowing down and trying to let the people I'm RPing with take most of the priority.

I'm working on getting journals on here so people can get Acele's backstory.  There actually isn't that much.

I've been assigned Haon Dor, Briarwood* [New Area], and Elium Forest next by Lloth.  Briarwood will replace In The Clouds ["Dylan's Area" I believe its called in the files] -- this is where the Djinni bands are acquired.  As I did with the Elemental Canyon, I'll add more content, keep what is there, there.  Stone and Fire Giants get some serious affection in this area, as far as lore goes, and making Aabahran feel more "consistent" across the board.  I want Briarwood to generally run west & east -- east linking to the west side of Banor Forest, making a second road to the Knight's Castle, making the Knights feel slightly more "integrated" into society.  I'm not sure if Anume, Erelei, or Lloth will approve this for tactical reasons.  I will dramatically decrease the room count of Elium Forest -- Fire Giants are driven back to Briarwood, Torilar on the offense now.  Elium becomes mostly an orchard, explaining where Val Miran gets its produce.  Haon Dor will be "streamlined" -- you'll still have minor amounts of "maze" paths, but the room count will be reduced a lot.  Haon Dor will serve to mainly explain where the Eridani River Delta ends up -- that water flowing from Mount Khorand goes all the way into the Dune Sea. Entrance to the Tombs will probably be a few rooms closer, but still be reached via spamming 'W'.  The Eridani will have a new one-way exit to the top of the Waterfall (the area with the pirate ship, as you all must know), providing a new loop-like escape that can put you back in the southern sector of Val Miran.  Other exits out of Haon Dor will remain very similar geographically: Hamlet out of the Northeast, Sunken Ship out of the Northwest, Landfill out of the Southwest, and Eridani River out of the Southeast.

I would just like to add that there are already two roads you can use to reach the Knight Castle. Your idea though, about linking Elium and Banor doesn't really add another road, since Banor is way before the Castle.

I am not sure whether I like the fact that you plan to decrease the size of Elium. Elium's build serves a purpose and there are very few open areas like it (the elemental canyon used to be one too, but it's now gone).

F0xx might be right, Elium is very unique.  We were talking before though that the "tile" size of the game is way too big for the amount of players that we have.  I really like the idea of cleaning up the fluff and reigning the living space of the world in so that you don't have stuff like the maze Outfields near Crystalmir, or (previously mentioned) In the Clouds with the screaming harpies, or all those weird overlapping rooms south of Ralardia, or a rarely-explored-if-ever Elven Valley, or a somewhat lackluster Isle of Exile, or a noob-destroying mess like the Sewers, or a completely outdated Chapel Catacombs.

There are also thematic things that just don't make sense to me.  What the heck is the Great Wall of Aabahran?  Does anyone talk about it?  Kesrick is standing by it with a bunch of guards or something?  Except, it isn't at the edge of the dangerous desert.  Why?  Who maintains it, Tribunal?  If so, why don't those rooms reflect that?  Also, who are the people in the Tainted Valley?  Why?  Are they Knights?  Not really, right, maybe?  Who runs that crap?

I want to put the work in to reign all of this scattered stuff in and create a narrative that gives FL distinction.  I could make new areas all day, but I'd rather fix what is already there... this is something that needs to be done, in my mind, on par with adding missing helpfiles, or correcting typos in rooms/items/help files.  It's like maintenance.  Clean up.  No one wants to do it, but when you get it done, it feels awesome.
