Kyzarius
Calling this a game is a lie. This is an experience. It is a harrowing tale, a horror movie told with you as the main character. If this is the infancy of AAA vr titles, then it is going to be one awesome ride as it matures.
Zavero
I don't have a PS 4 and have never played anything in VR. Does it ever make you get motion sickness?
Kyzarius
i did get vr sickness after an hour and a half, you have to play it in spurts.
egreir
Suck it up, admit it, you were just scared.
Kyzarius
i wish, I hadnt had VR motion sickness at all before. This was right at 90 min i started getting hot feeling and a little dizzy. The game does toss you around a bit. You fall over in a chair at one point, it caused some disorientation especially when you get into it and are immersed.

f0xx
How do you like the VR technology in its current state? I tend to stay away from new technologies usually, especially 3D.
Fool_Hardy
The Red Dwarf books taught us all we need to know about VR.

I tend to stay away from new technologies usually, especially 3D. Sony has done it right. With the Occulus rift you had to have a significantly powered rig and spend enormous amounts of time on configuration to get it to work. The money involved quickly gets rediculous. They also have a product where they cant target specific performance goals because eveyrone has a different computer. So you probably wont see them catching on IMO. Sony however has in-depth knowledge of the base console. So they added a "processing unit" that the VR plugs into that works wiht the console filling in the gaps on performance, so it is very consistent. You literally pop it out of the box and plug it in. From packaging to playing in minutes. A child could hook this thing up. The headset is much more comfortable than Occulus. I wear mine when I play destiny because it puts a 2d movie screen floating in front of you when playing non VR games. All in all I would say it is the boyhood dream of what I expected VR to be. Compact, relatively affordable. The motion tracking could use a little improvement, you get some shaking occasionally. Sometimes have to reboot your ps4 if switching from one title to another. But these things will resolve themselves in firmware/software patches. I cant wait until Farpoint comes out, or some of the conversion patches hit for existing games. This really takes gaming to a completely different level.

I have an Oculus, and I'm not certain I agree with this statement. My GTX 970, i7-6700k computer runs it just fine, and first-time setup took about twenty minutes. Available games are still somewhat lacking, but that's not a problem with the Oculus itself.
egreir
970gtx until recently was a very respectable gpu.... and a sixth gen i7? Not exactly a entry level computer, im not surprised it runs oculus well. The bloke with a i5-3200k and a 750ti is gonna struggle though.
Kyzarius
Pali, isn't that gpu more expensive than a ps4?
f0xx
That's a pretty expensive rig indeed.
Zavero
Yeah... That rig plus the cost of the VR unit... Ps4 makes more sense to me.

A fair point - I've barely even turned on my XBOne since I got my comp together. Maybe I've just been spending too much time in PC gaming forums lately, as I'm already considering upgrading to a 1070 and selling the 970 (1070 is about twice as good as a 970 for VR). I still maintain that setup was pretty simple and doesn't take long. The thing isn't much less plug n play than a new monitor.
