sarcon
I'm starting to think that having multiple characters can actually spread yourself too thin. I usually have one MAIN character and really give it my all, then I'll roll a few other things to keep things interesting but never truly commit to them. I don't ever really get them Teir 3 armor, don't really give a shizzit about tactics or staying alive, more like I've just rolled them to not really care. But in doing this, you kinda rob yourself of the potential of developing this other toon. I remember Fox told me once to try and have two toons, one that you put all your heart in, and another to just kick around. I've been trying my best to listen to everyone.. I don't want to burn out my toons by playing them non-stop and eventually delete them after like 2-4 months. Though, those 2 or 4 months could equal 400+ hours easily. Now, I'm really pacing myself and holding back a lot. But then I roll these other toons to try and keep things fresh, but truth be told I don't care about them and sometimes it's a waste of time. I want to hear peoples feedback about how to properly navigate having a few characters so you don't burn out your main toon, but actually convince yourself to care about them. Grimulfr
I am personally terrible at trying to focus on any more than one character. 95% of the time, when I roll something new, it leads to me abandoning the old character and moving on with the new one. I'm not saying I never do it, or have never done it before, but it is generally not my thing. I have no issue with people having multiple characters as long as they are all properly roleplayed. Speaking from an Imm perspective, we generally do not like to see too many "throw-away" characters that exist purely to vent frustration by randomly PKing others (I'm not saying you do this). In my view, if you find you're playing a character for no reason, or for the wrong reasons, you should probably drop it and focus on your established characters and evolving their RP. Izzy
Me personally I had the most fun when we got to play together. Now its just like blah. I can't seem to get into any rhythm. Its fun when you have people who play as much as you are invested as much as you are. Now its just blah. I can't even get into a rhythm with my main. Oh well. f0xx
Well, it's different for everyone. I've told you how I cope with it. Doesn't mean it will work for you though. I have 70 "score sheet hours" on my main. If I didn't have myself spread over 2-3 characters those could have easy been 150 hours. It's a bit problematic when it comes to RP, but I am not like yourself and Trick for example who want things to be dynamic 100% of the time. I like to take my time. Pali
I used to run with more than one character at a time, but haven't in a very long while. I don't discount them - my favorite character of mine was one that started as a blow-off character, an alternate to my main that very quickly took over my playtime after things I hadn't expected kept happening to him - but unless you've got multiple hours a day to play on average, I've found it hard to find more than one char at a time rewarding. Edit: Now, if I DID have 3+ hours a day to play on average, I'd honestly find it hard to stick to only one character without them becoming a bit stale. 90 hours a month? That's a job as much as it is a character.
