Description dragons and their slot.

Have not noticed such a trend, and if discovered it would very likely make the chance of getting one significantly lower. At least from me. Trying to get around the system by loading up the staff with a gigantic (and repetitive) workload is pretty rude. If anyone has questions about why they didn't get a dragon, they've always been welcome to (politely) ask for feedback.

Doesn't bode well for me, I've only ever gotten one dragon in over 10 years and being the type of player that tries to get every advantage they can to just survive makes this new system seem like quite the chore.

I've only had one dragon too. A psionicist of mine, and it was given to me by Viri.

Not one since. :P

The dragon change has made me spent significantly more time (and thought) writing my descriptions. I've even asked native speaking English people to check my descriptions for me.

I've even seen people who didn't get a dragon first try, after playing their characters for a long time and making a name for themselves, altering their description because of ingame events affecting their character, and then getting a dragon.

So, you can always get a second and even third chance if you have the RP and longevity.

In the end though, dragons are mostly a "cool" thing that brings a very very minor advantage in PK. Exactly as it should be.

That F0xxy, is called winning.

We have never given out more dragons. They are easier to get because I am willing to give them to everyone who submits a desc.

But you won't get it for minimal effort. Ever. Its so easy and important to write a good desc for a your char. Its the first intro most people have using the bio function.

wow.

So let me give some advice here if I may. I have honestly had more characters with dragons than without.

How do I do it? I did not think it was a secret, it was just a way the Professor and I wrote descriptions.

Bing it. I don't care what your intending to play. Fire Giant, Dwarf, Faerie Berzerker, go to bing images and bing it.

Pick an image that you like from the list. Start at the top of the pic and work your way down. Make the reader "see" the Pic.

Its really that easy friends.

Note: I will say that Malch was the hardest to impress IMO.

Edit: Remember to alter the pic in your writing, add something personal to the character, and something personal to Aabahran.

My best advice for a good description is to write it in such a way that the reader can really visualize your toon in their minds.

Stay away from actions, don't force the reader to experience emotions, let them draw their own conclusions.

Try not to describe your character's armor in great detail, sure you can point out certain insignia or other important traits but put the effort into describing how the character holds themselves as opposed to just what they are wearing.

Be as descriptive as possible, I know this sounds obvious since it is a description but from what I read I see a lot of people missing opportunity to expand on things.

Example:

a ) Before you stands a tall and heavy giant. <--- This gets the point across but could be made a lot better

b ) Before you is a towering male, easily twice as tall as any human. The ground beneath his feet looks ready to cave in under his imposing physique. <--- paints more of a picture

Since we are discussing the dragons anyway. I have a question that has always puzzled me.

Is there a ranking system to the dragons? How does an immortal decide which dragon a character will receive?

For instance, some might think the fire dragon the best as it blinds, others may value the permanent ac of the earth.

What are or are there defining factors in the equation determining which dragon a character receives?

Pretty much what I do.  You should see how many bookmarks I have for inspiration.

And Bing?  Really?  And here I though you were cool.

I think it's whimsy, honestly, but I am myself curious.  I had a water dragon given to my dwarf.

They are all good but different. I have noticed they choose which dragon based on RP primarily, at least that's what I think. They might also base it on your race/class as different dragons also bolster different stats. So dex based classes might get a certain dragon over str based classes etc... But that might just have been coincidence in my own experience.

Since I came back in June, I've gotten either a dragon or even a wearable armor piece on all but four characters. Prior to that, I'd gotten quite a few as well, but spread out over a lot longer time period. Dragons from what I notice are typically given based on race/class. My latest character I was asked directly what class I was planning on choosing after starting as an Adventurer. They're nice perks to have by any means, I just wish they were updated slightly to be more useful in some cases. Like Earth Dragon would be great if it randomly cast a spell of shield, armor, stone skin, or flesh armor. Regardless though, I don't quit a character if I don't get a reward. I only create a new one when an old one runs its course with me.

I recently rolled a character as well.  Then was asked what I planned on becoming as I too was an adventurer.  I think it has to do with race class.  Give a Dark knight a fire dragon and that can be kinda op Dirt kick/flamestrike from dragon/ember in weapon.  Lots of way to blind.  Who knows though.  I am very happy when I put the work in to write a good description and am rewarded for my efforts.  Its very nice.

I too would like to see some rework of the dragons, I however, would not randomize the earth dragon. If you can count on armor, you do not need to harvest it. If its random you have to harvest armor too.

What I would like to see is new dragons.

  • Tiny Forest dragon < Breathes Chlorine gas with a chance to poison.
  • Tiny Flying dragon < Curls around neck imbuing its companion with flight.
  • Tiny Faerie dragon < Creates food/spring (maybe a fountain of milk?) when companion is harmed by hunger/thirst.
  • Tiny Vampire dragon < Casts a modified form of Vampiric touch to heal its companion.

These are just a few ridiculous suggestions, but my intent is to inspire not to create. Variety is not only the spice of life, it aids in defining Role Play.

As players we have limited choices in class and race combinations, and among those, we further limit ourselves by being adept at certain classes. I have experienced that something as simple as one of these small dragons (which rarely affect PK) can completely enhance my RP. When Anume gave me Mana, the Multicolored dragon, my crusader wannabe with death knocking at the door took it as a sign from the One. I fought back made sader and completed a conquest when I thought the character's life was over.

Tiny dragons are OP, because they make us value and believe in our characters.
