Fool_Hardy
Goodman, MO received a taste of Gaias wrath yesterday evening. Me and mine are all well. We'll wishes and prayers for those who may not have been so fortunate. Meanwhile, will have to rent a hotel room for a couple of days until power is restored. Can not let new grand daughter go without.

Fool_Hardy
Ahh time without electricity, how it takes me back. Back to a simpler time where opportunities to be creative where more common. I boiled water and poured it through the filter chamber in order to make coffee, sweet nectar of life. Purchased a clean burning propane heater to ensure the warmth and well being of my grand daughter. And also found myself thankful for the chance to share the lessons with my children that they will be able to continue to think simpler when I am no longer here to guide them. The town we live in has less than 1200 people, we managed to survive with no human casualties. Several buildings were destroyed as was the communications and power grid. Power has been restored, Internet too if I am posting this. While this small town will struggle to rebuild its school and other government buildings, the hardy people who live here will surely all pitch in as volunteer laborers, most will not have money to donate. Lets hope that our current government administration can concieve, and understand, the struggles of a township that holds no municipalities with which to generate funding. Our Fire and Police departments are either voluntary or made up of highway patrolmen who pass through regularly. City taxes, 4% on the dollar, are inadequate to sustain a large labor pool. In actuality, even if we paid a higher percentage, the overall unemployment/retirement rate of the 1200 people would still not amount to enough to sustain a small non voluntary force. In the end this small town has survived for well over a century, and will undoubtedly survive this set back as well. The farmers who work the land, the good ol boys like me who drive an hour to go to work, and even the less than admirable folks who spend their lives sucking off the public nipple for their living, will each to a man come forth and ask how they can help. This, is what it means to be a community, to understand that sometimes one man is affected, and other times all men are affected, and ask yourself, would I want help? Not do I need or deserve it. Thanks for your prayers, and well wishes. May tranquility find you when you need it most.
