In this bout we use protection which at times felt like I still had none at all. This guy is strong as hell, and with dirt happening so quickly it becomes painful fast. I figured he would not initiate with murder again like last time so I poison myself which ultimately probably ended me. I'll have to go with different weapons I think next time though.

* At this point I'm beginning to think that dirt kicking is a waste of time since he flees immediately practically. Those arrows that make him glow are definitely sucking right now and haven't worked yet. Definitely not worth the effort since fire hurt him more.

* May as well just in case he attempts again. Though at this point he has effectively dropped my HP to an incredibly low point but I was getting nervous at this point too.

Nailed it. 

You're an archer. Move around and shoot. If you're fighting in the fords there are areas with a forest and a really long stream. Force him to come to you. 

If you switch to flaming arrows on water, rapid fire and then get him to fight there you'll control the battle, you'll also have a good chance of blinding him there.

I find plague + poison arrows to be more effective then vorpal as their progs seem to land easier.

That was a murder round, not a normal combat round - he fled and walked back in.

These are MY tips for the ranger. I've played a TON of archer rangers, so I hope you can take away something from my experiences:

1. You're an ogre. He isn't going to out-heal you, especially since you have herb. Which I didn't see you use.

2. ALWAYS use rapid fire. ALWAYS. And I mean always. No matter the encounter, situation, or whatever. NEVER fight with out it. You will land dismembers even with rapid fire on and it will be every round, not every other.

3. Move around and plink his ass to death. Who gives a shit about your pets. They aren't going to be the main source of damage against Kelmi. Your arrows are.

4. If you're going to be in combat, use a staff. Like I said, your arrows + attrition will beat Kelmi, stay defensive.

5. And this is my super secret strategy against Gladiators as an archer: USE SLEEPY ARROWS! Once it hits, guess what? He's not in stance anymore. That means you will be doing a GOOD chunk of damage. Get that weather nice and nasty, sleep him, thunderstorm. He will eat a disintegrate or more then a follow up arrow if he stays for the round, and if he flees then fire an arrow into his ass. If he wises up and decides to stay poisoned here, great. Now his healing ability is done. That means his mana, too. Guess what a Gladiator can't do without mana? Forms and stance. It might take a few arrows to put him to sleep, but it'll be worth it. Each and every time.

Trick's advise is spot on... Of course. Drop his stance with sleep arrows then switch to fire arrows for a murder round.

If he is going to hide, you can camo and catch a tick if you aren't poisoned. I beat him with a gnome ranger archer. Of course, he was only a M or V at that point. He used the same tactics though.
