I am the same way, west is to the right for some reason.  When i see a map of aabahran it always seems backwards.

I am trying to understand this. I am.

So, when you leave your home in the real world I am guessing you usually head south before you head north. If not now, maybe it was so when you learned the cardinal directions as a child.

I have spent years working with maps, west = right = map upside down.

Or is it because you spin a globe right to see what lies to the west? Just trying to understand.

For Fireman, it's more along the lines of the direction string  read literally [north east south west].  East is on the left, west on the right.  He's also stated that south is "down."  Being such, his view is mirrored, not rotated.  Has nothing to do with his actual map reading skills (I hope :)).

As for Kyzarius, I'd imagine that it's much the same way for him.  More akin to reading literally than it is making a connection with a map.
