Willow Palm

How about we make it NOT reset like Winter doesnt reset unless a shift?

Its stupid dangerous, doors have locked on me multiple times, I know people that have gotten trapped.

Yes I just died again because a dumb ass door shut and locked on me while a groupmate had the key, I was too busy trying to look while blind and open (which way?) while bashed because things locked suddenly down and mobs reset.

Its not fair to the character, who cares about the player(nobody usually does), my character has 20 lives and has lost 3-5 due to resets while exploring or fighting in quested areas.

Im sooooooo old school where (find key, kill mob, get key, open door) makes sense to me while (say magical word learned from somewhere, bring garbage from somewhere, meet mob from somewhere before coming here) doesnt compute properly.  Black door needs a black key, unholy door needs an unholy key, red door needs a red key... Thats just me and wish I saw more of it ;)

Anyhow, i hate how these harder to get quest keys and door stuffs reset after a couple ticks, its been 95% of my char deaths.

The offices are just as bad, you kill Tonry and if you don't get to the barrier in time, the whole thing  resets.

I think only about 33% of the time I go there I can finish it without something bugging out.

There are a few major barriers here. If we made the reset only occur on world shift, we would have to rebalance the whole area. The content is just not hard enough to justify it. The items are also not strong enough. Items are balanced in a large part due to risk/reward. If we do all of that, we defeat the purpose of many of those items, which serve as a sort of in-between for starter level 50 items and items from harder areas like gear and desolation.

If we didn't change the items at all, and just made it only reset on shifts, you would have an incredibly easy area with rewards very far out of line with the risk to obtain them You would also create artificial scarcity of key items for both re-equipping and item progression. Furthermore, enemies could blast through the area (a well dressed group with everyghing memorized can speed through the area as is) and sac everything to essentially remove items from circulation for upwards of 12 real hours, more at times, giving them an immense impact on their enemies' ability to equip themselves even during mismatched hours. Nobody wants that.

Also, some parts are useful for ranking, covering some exp gap areas.

People complain high end areas (like Winter) are too easy to solo.

Immortals create Willow palm. It now holds some of the best items in the game.

They also make it a properly hard area, where you actually need a group to complete.

People now complain Willow Palm is too hard.

You've got a tough job there, staff.

It's not that it's too hard, it's actually quite easy when someone else is towing me around ;) However, it's the part about rooms and mobs resetting locking you in.

How about even making a flee room in all the no exit 1 door locked bosses? That way people won't get stuck in a single room, blinded while getting smashed not knowing the area just locked down and reset on them after they just made it in.

Who cares? I don't venture there for kicks or go there for equipment, I go there to help people who ask for help. So knowing the area like the back of my hand or absolutely despising it doesn't change the fact that it just locks down (while your in it), it shouldn't do that. Hell, if it didn't do that I'd be more inclined to venture there for kicks and learn the place. Taking character deaths because of tough mobs is expected, taking those same deaths because of resets and lockdowns it an absolute fun suck. THEN to top it all off you have to wait at your pit for a decade... ;)

Resets are easily managed if you want to be extremely cautious. Kill a weak mob. Sit in the area and check each tick for it. Note how many ticks pass before it spawns. Do it again. Mark the second period of time. Repeat until you have a consistent range.

Gives you all the information you need to make an educated decision about when to start encounters, and when to wait.

I do not foresee us changing game mechanics to facilitate bad decisions or impatience.

Imagine my hesitation, f0xx, in releasing this next area that's extremely hard, even for groups of 4...

Probably gonna get my butt kicked from all the backlash.

What's a group of 4? Must be a merging of the lands where goods and evils need to kiss and make up just to travel, lol ;)

Hey UC, no worries. I don't know Gear, Desolation nor the Willow palm either.

I get all my EQ from killing noobs like you and Lloth ;)

and Anume.

Hard to kill me if I don't have time to play...

I have only died a few times in the palm, and only alone. Maybe your doing something wrong.

No offense, but you could have taken this to prayer, instead you decided to place this thread in the general forum.

Since you returned your posts have been little more than flaming jabs at our current staff that slander the game I love, and you seem to dislike.

Your crusade to ruin the reputation of Aabahran, is obvious to anyone paying attention.

I have NEVER been banned, if this post gets me banned, I will take it.

THIS IS AABAHRAN!

No idea what @Fool_Hardy is talking about...

Ive posted bugs.

ive posted ideas.

ive posted frustrations.

Ive posted props.

ive submitted to polls.

ive also posted my personal opinions which nobody is forced to read, maybe it would be better if this was a private forum where we could only read our own posts. Oh, then it would be a journal, not a forum, right ;)

i play my main chars as often as I can and when I can't them i play lowbies to help other people rank and get eq.

So for a game that you love and I apparently hate I seem to be a pretty productive member of the community, forum AND MUD, thank god there aren't too many people like me around, we would crash and burn in no time flat! Lol ;)

yes and no.

By posting what (i think) may be a bug in general gameplay shows new and old players that something might hurt their character, so they can either avoid it or deal with it properly.

Anything id consider to be a major bug goes to the prayer forum, along with that submission id insert my opinion on how I think it could be fixed, sometimes id also write some code that Erelei can use or toss at his own discretion.

I do see your side of the coin where you think it shows negativity,  I think my side of the coin shows a caring player who doesnt want anyone else to undertake the same frustration of the situation. Also, it allows people to chime in with (just do this and that, OR, never go there without X), this empowers the playerbase of old and new players, not discourage them :)
