Is there going to be a new class or race in the future?

What new race would you like to see? From my understanding they're fairly easy to add.

It's just a matter of if it makes sense or not.

I personally would like to see existing races that aren't played made more viable.

Quite a lot of the new class ideas are incorporated into class reworks which imo is the best way to go about it.

We JUST buffed the underplayed races. And people still don't  play them.

This is just my opinion but with how knowledgeable our playerbase is, there is no way I'm playing something with a vuln unless the pros heavily outweigh it as its basically guaranteed to be exploited.

And most of the underplayed races have vulns or have strictly better alternatives.

It's not just about buffing races. Some races are really good at X but suck at Y.  If you want diversity you need to buff underwhelming combos like they did with elf and drow blade masters.

I don't really see a need for a new race. Pretty much everything is covered and you have restrings for custom stuff. A new class would be cool or maybe a new q-something. In the latter case it could be neat if the q-thing was neutral only and was a unique race/class.

I'd be more in favor of buffing the weaker races a bit more. I am tired of seeing the same old shit every single time. It gets doubled, in my opinion, because when you face the stronger combos you need to play a stronger combo yourself in order to compete. So, we end up with the same race/classes regurgitating RP.

I agree with this.  A new race and or class sounds extremely interesting, but only as long as it brings something different to the table, be it a qthing or not.  I mean, 17 standard classes and 20 standard races?  That's a fair bit, even when compared to games that don't deal as easily with broad strokes such as D&D.  As ML states and as far as races go, there's a lot covered with restrings.

I was going to say something about the buffing (or not) of certain race/class combos, but I think it's far to nuanced to not have its own thread, of which I'm too lazy to make.  Still, I think we'd need to look here before we started in on either another race or class.

I'm on the page where a new class would be amazing, but with so many classes that need tweaks to compete with the new level of gear should be changed first. The imm staff did an amazing job with the necromancer and ninja changes, I'd like to see monks, battlemages and paladin upgrades before the huge amount of time building a new class from scratch that does something the current ones don't.

Why does everyone say paladins need a change? They are one of the strongest classes out there in the right hands.

I don't get this.....

They are just boring to play I think. But easily a VERY strong class.

Paladins are great for newer players - as they have so much utility and survivability for taking on PVE.  The are average at best in PK in my experience, as they are lacking on offence - so you can't really kill someone as much as you can fool someone into killing themselves by overcommiting to a long drawn out fight.

They would seriously benefit from a more offensive weapon choice (flails / whip?) and / or a decent way of dishing out damage from skills / spells that doesn't have 2 rounds of lag.

Idea: What if Holy word was changed to only last for 1 hour - but kept wrath damage high until it ran out - as opposed to being consumed by casting.  This would be a buff - but would allow a Paladin to go into 'offensive mode' when they decide to flip the switch and go for the kill.  Give Holy Word a cool down period to compensate so you have to be strategic about when you use it.

What is this restring thing I keep seeing mentioned? How does it work?

I don't own a dog.

Help restring
Basically you apply using an application and have your Race name changed to X.
You write a very good description. A good History, and perhaps some journals.
Then apply.
For example, Imagine you wish to make a Troll meathead.
You roll an Ogre Warrior, make description on about how green and ugly you are. Make history about living under a bridge.
Them send an application to immortal. Some imm, pops you somewhere, talks to you. Adjusts some stuff that might be interesting from a RP point of view. Like changing your language from Ogre to Troll.
Then you are sent into the world and on the who list, where it should appear Ogre appears Troll. But on WHOIS your name, it shows Troll (Ogre).

Also, if you are making a restring please make it clear in the first lines of the description what you are. I'm tired for having to read walls of text just to figure what people are. And half the times, I don't understand it.

bio [name]
Gives you the race (and base race if restring), detailed creation picks, perk and description of the person in question.

I'm not going to tell you in my description that I'm a troll.  I'm going to describe to you what I look like.  Probably in detail.  Kinda the point of a description.  If you want to instantly figure out what race I am, read the whois/bio.  If you'd like to know more or understand what I am, come talk to me.

Oh yeah a new race...

Gnomlings

During a special performance by one of Aabahran's most famous bards the  halflings and gnomes were all invited to the city of faeries. The halflings began by offering some of their mead, which was politely accepted by the pink nosed gnomes. The gnomes in turn offered some sweet red wine. The Bard himself had turned the fountain into sweet ambrosia, The drinking and dancing went on for days until all of the vertically challenged folk were quite drunk and disorderly. When the people sobered up a few days later they realized they were not only short of stature but short of undergarments as well. Several months later a new race evolved on Aabahran. Whether by fate of divine influence the male children seemed to share the strengths and weaknesses of the halflings, while the little lasses seemed to share those of the gnomes.

Str:17 Int:20 Wis:23 Dex:21 Con:19

Racial Perk: Cloak of Masking

syntax : Cloak

Gnomeling's appear far more timid than either of their parent races. Seeking to avoid conflict they developed skills to conceal their presence in any environment.

JUST KIDDING!!

And the revolutionary suggestion train begins once again.

Can we get a single thread without someone going in "suggestion mode"?
