Zavero
1. How does the shield warrior rate against the PVE? 2. Which is the best warrior path for PVE?
Manual Labour
Never played a shield warrior but I imagine they are ok for PvE. Problem is your damage output will be very low with a shield on and I'm not sure that trade off is worth it for the extra defense. I can't think of any lores that actually help in PvE except maybe doublesheath for faster weapon swapping. In my experience having a magic and mundane staff to switch between is the best for a warrior trying to solo stuff. And if you are neutral you can alternate between staff of nature's spirit and abbots staff for frequent healing. Take my opinion with a grain of salt because I do not consider myself an experienced warrior player. I was able to PvE very well on my last warrior but that was 90% because I was a Herald and 10% because I was a warrior (more or less).
English lad
My rather limited experience with Warriors (2) would suggest that Warrior Lore is pretty much PK focused - very little relationship to PVE. In the vein I would echo what ML said that Doublesheath is probably your best bet if you are looking to have a warrior for PVE purposes.
mya
FG, with a fire staff. With mastery and expertise in staff. I don't think powergrip damage bonus applies to staffs, so take doublesheath for PK. Join Herald.
Manual Labour
The only way to take staff mastery and get doublesheath would be to switch your lore with RP points after the fact.

I'm a bit rusty on my warriors, but don't you get two expertises, and the Lore only requires either Expertise or Mastery?
Manual Labour
Lore is based solely on your weapon mastery.
Fool_Hardy
Very well @Zavero, very well. I took a shield master to a lot of places I normally do not go alone. Also won some challenges against WM's. It's worth the adventure.

Fool_Hardy
Also, should have mentioned there is a significant bonus to the shield block defense. Not sure if I am allowed to say how much.
Unknown Criminal
I have a shield warrior whom I use for exploration when the kids are on me so very very very little PK action. What I've noticed is that I'm always wielding a staff or else I get chewed up. The shield bash has some cool damage and effects but when wielding a staff I have better offense AND more defense. So I'm not sure about PK wise but for tanking mobs a basic 100% staff is much much better than 110% shield block, you will do more damage and take less. Tantangel
I think it will vary more than you think based off your race to be honest. You're going to survive pretty easily with Staff Mastery, and although a shield is pretty defensive, having a staff which is far more defensive than any others, also having pugil giving you more attacks per round, I went from getting knocked down 30% in MOB fights to <5% when I went with a Staff. Shield Lore was nice when I had one, but that was years ago. Exotic Lore is great for the simple fact that you can disarm non disarmable weapons. And most of the time, everyone has those anymore. I've always been curious about feign though, but with Halflings getting a bonus to swords/daggers, it may be worth looking into down the road. You can get a character to 50 doing quests pretty easily, I think I went from 1-50 in about as little as 15 hours with training defenses and a couple weapons. So you could always just throw a quick suit together as a staple for a base trial run and wear it as all the different warriors you'd have with all having different lores. Your best place of doing it will be Halloween though, you'll be able to have everything mastered perfectly without any effort and it'll give you a rough idea of what you may be aiming for once you actually decide to play it. Madness = 100 %? Havent played during the madness in years, it used to be 90% then 80%, did it swing the other way?
Magick
Oh yeah, all mastered for at least the past three years. I don't recall it being less than that, though a niggle says that it was 75% for all some time ago, but I can't verify. I've only been logging everything since 2013 and I only started logging even the Madnesses starting 2014.
Unknown Criminal
If you want to rank fast to check out a class pick adventurer perk and hardcore character, you can pin virtually fully trained in no time flat, especially if you can find some starting early and a group. Fool_Hardy
I like moderate hardcore for experimentation. Hides the red behind the blue, less protagonists. I thought perhaps its kind of a work around, but until staff gives us an actual "purple" PK, its as by the book as anything else. And @Unknown Criminalchoosing the Adventurer class bypasses the hardcore selection. You can not do both, without divine help, and that is a fact. Unknown Criminal
Anyone know why shieldbash will do a dismember one round then a graze the next round or two? I don't understand the inconsistency damage wise when using it every 2 rounds.
Tantangel
Maybe it attempted to do one of its special attacks? Regular shield bash may just hit for pure damage, but when it attempts to silence someone, it just grazes? Though I'm not 100%, but I had a thought of how bad ass it would be if a Warrior with Shield Lore came up it would be similar to Ranger arrows in the sense it can bash for a specific reasoning like silence or bleed and along with any other added affects it can already do. Unknown Criminal
I'm taking about doing the shield bash directly instead of a regular bash or kick.
Tantangel
I was talking about the same thing. As far as I know you can't really shield bash without it being your expertise/mastery and then lore anyways.
Unknown Criminal
I'm pretty sure I expertised in mace and staff, mastery in staff and lored shield. That gave me all the defense I could possibly need PVE plus my favorite offensive weapon for PVP. Shieldbash triggers automaticially every couple rounds during combat plus I'm able to activate it 'like bash' every two rounds, sometimes it dismembers and other times it grazes. I can't figure out why it grazes, I even look to check if it's triggered off that same round but that doesn't seem to affect it, still a dismember or a graze.
