Ex-D&Der
I know who he is. The point is he didn't invent it, but he "took the initiative in creating it." Gore played a similar role with the Internet, although his role was limited to the public sector involvement.
myrek
i disagree. crypty didn't invent the internet, didn't create MUDs, and didn't even create this type of MUD. But he was part of the team that created this mud. Gore may have greatly and vastly improved, guided, or whatever the internet. He did not do anything to create it. "took the initiative in creating it." means or at least implies that there was nothing and no one was doing anything about it until he came along. Wathok
http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.asp Just something I found. I don't know how reliable the information is. The list of sources is, however, reassuring, even if it is short.

Chayesh
Before anyone sees this hyped-up travesty of a film, please investigate the view held by over 17,000 educated members of the scientific community about what the "reality" of global warming really is (or actually is not). http://www.sitewave.net/news/ I read the original research by the Oregon Institute for Science and Medicine about 5 years ago (give or take) when it was published. It's an eye-opener for anyone who seriously considers believing the propaganda being force-fed to us by everyone from politicians to media pundits. Keep an open mind and give it a read. You definitely will not be disappointed, if for no other reason than you'll have something else to shout about.
MeleeCrazy
Now I'm not one to go say that hamanity as a whole, society as a whole should give up technology, but propaganda can be thrown both ways. I'm not saying that the article is false in any way(and I actually really enjoyed it, Until I read it I was going to stay away from this subject) but from a neutral observer's standpoint it seemed almost as bad as the so called "propaganda" it is to disprove. The tone of the entire article seems "too-sure of itself". If there is one thing I've learned throughout my years is that nothing, save death, is set in stone. I do think that we as a society should be careful about how far we will go, careful not fearful. And global warming is fact, it's cause is beyond me, but it's happening. Climates have changed...something's up. I'll just bring into reference something of my own personal experience....It hasn't snowed to the point where it could really be called snow here in my hometown since 1989, and the summers have gotten completely unbearable. I will also mention that before 1989 snow wasn't a rare occurence here in B-town. P.S. I have no intention of seeing anything with any connection to Al Gore. Chayesh
Perhaps they didn't state it as clearly as they could in the article, but according to these scientists the global warming that is being told to us is not the global warming that's happening. This current warming trend, according to their research, is nothing more than a warming/cooling cycle that has been happening historically for thousands of years, and not the gigantic cataclysm that is being tossed about in the media. Food for thought when you imagine the rash actions and doomsday thinking that could result in disastrous policies being enacted worldwide.
MeleeCrazy
yeah I point of the article....and i don't disagree...I'm just right in the middle...sorta apathetic. I hate politics, politics themsevles are dangerous.
Dizz
Gee.... I always thought of the birth of the internet to be mostly because of Wayne Bell (WWIV) and other BBS'. WWIV had a national email system since the 80s.
