Implementor Anume Posted June 21, 2006 Implementor Report Share Posted June 21, 2006 After having to look at dozens of pale, slightly tanned at best, sometimes BLOND drow, I thought I'd give you guys a couple links. In most books like the Drizzt saga for example drow are dark skinned (dark grey, obsidian or black) with white/silver hair and red/violet eyes. Of course you might be an albino but the elven looking drow are becoming the norm slowly. My favorit one: Http://images.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http://fs5.deviantart.com/i/2004/315/2/2/Drow_Priestess_Rau_by_DarrkestDrow.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.deviantart.com/view/12178476/&h=933&w=650&sz=346&tbnid=O65gcDp-faAfAM:&tbnh=147&tbnw=102&hl=de&sta This one is good too: Http://bizoki.chemistry.gatech.edu/linda/Drow%20Female.jpg And another couple: http://web.tiscali.it/fantasy_exaltation/masdrow1.html And here something for the few real ladies out there: http://images.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Phobos420/Fantasy/BladedDrow.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.angelfire.com/freak3/phobos420/Bio.html&h=692&w=496&sz=24&tbnid=hNvAsNxchOsf3M:&tbnh=137&tbnw=98&hl=de&start=245&prev=/images%3Fq%3Ddrow%26start%3D240%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Dde%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN

Chayesh
On the drow note... They are a MATRIARCHAL society. Men are one step above slaves. They are usually "property" of a female, the highest ranking of which is the Matron Mother of a city or tribe. The world hierarchy goes like this. Drow females (rulers) Drow males (devoted servants and breeding stock) Everybody else (slaves) Animals Minerals Plants

Designated_Driver
Ugh. I knew there was a reason the highly secret pro-feminist organization was code-named DROW. And here we all just thought it was an acronym.
mya
Notice how the skin description only has a few option .... Im not racist but i do not like my characters black, in fact i dont like even like taned skin. I think last year i didnt went to the beatch and i live 80 m from it. So that takes away 3 choices. Leaving: Pale and Exotic. I dont like red skin. So i only get a skin color "Pale". Do i like every character i make being Pale, no i dont, but its the least awfull alternative. I would prefer to have a normal skin colour.
Implementor Anume Posted June 21, 2006 Author Implementor Report Share Posted June 21, 2006 Re Mya: Nothing stops you from making a beautiful, voluptous, long blonde haired, blue eyed Illithid necro either. It just really isn't an Illithid. The options are always all available, that is a code thing. And Chay is 100% right. Want to see a male drow rping that properly hahaha

Fīv
On the drow note... They are a MATRIARCHAL society. Men are one step above slaves. They are usually "property" of a female, the highest ranking of which is the Matron Mother of a city or tribe. The world hierarchy goes like this. Drow females (rulers) Drow males (devoted servants and breeding stock) Everybody else (slaves) Animals Minerals Plants A Matron Mother is the leader of a House, not a city or tribe. Taken from my knowledge of the Drizzt series (as Salvatore created Drow Society): Their Capital, Menzoberranzan, is a dark city located within a cavern in the Underdark about 1.5mi by 1mi. The 'power' order. The City is ruled by the Council. The Council is made up of the Matron Mothers of the Top 8 houses. Each Matron Mother controls all which happens within her own house. Her daughters are next. Priestesses of Lloth (their deity). The noble males of the house. Along with the Weapons Master and 'current' mate of the Matron.Drow commoners inlisted as soldiers in her household.Slaves. Goblins, bugbears, orcs, dwarves, ect. House rank is extremely important in their society, even house 9 is way above house 10. There are DOZENS of Noble Households always competing to be above the next one. Eshaine mentioned that drow eyes can be red/violet. Red is the normal color of infravision beings. The exception to that was Drizzt, being born with violet eyes. Ah.. read the books. They're better than me babbling on.

Magick
After having to look at dozens of pale, slightly tanned at best, sometimes BLOND drow, I thought I'd give you guys a couple links. In most books like the Drizzt saga for example drow are dark skinned (dark grey, obsidian or black) with white/silver hair and red/violet eyes. Of course you might be an albino but the elven looking drow are becoming the norm slowly. Two things I have concerning such. The first being violet eyes. Drizzt was the exception to the rule. Very unusual for the Drow to have anything other than red eyes. In addition, his eyes were violet under both infrared and normal light. The second being the difference between Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance. In Forgotten Realms, the drow are indeed black skinned, white haired and red eyed. However in Dragonlance, a Drow, or Dark Elf, is little more than a normal Elf that has turned dark in the evil sence. Therefore, the pale skinned blue eyed elf COULD be drow, under those guidelines. Balgashang
And Chay is 100% right. Want to see a male drow rping that properly hahaha In terms of Rp, I'm at a loss at times of how many halflings seem just as blood-thirsty as a fire giant. I remember a couple of months ago, having an elf paladin, that just kept getting attacked by this halfling blademaster, wasn't the warmaster one, like an rl month or two after he deleted. From the help files it seems that halflings are kinda happy-go-lucky and are friendly with most good-aligned races. I remember a halfling ranger that was constantly going after bounties. Eh suppose the same thing happens with gnomes too, although I don't seem to get attacked anywhere near as much by them as I do halflings when playing a good aligned char. :shrugs:

Zrothum
Why can't I have a pale blond haired blue eyed drow? I understand that not the drow race in general are dark skinned, etc. etc. etc. But it's my character with my RP....if my drow is pale with blond hair and blue eyes for some reason....why should it matter? Icor
I guess that begs to question WHY are drow supposed to be dark-skinned. Because they live underground? Wouldn't that make them pale, or is it a racial quality? If you had a pale drow, why would it be pale? Was it kicked out of its home or something?
Zrothum
I'm sure if you wanted to have a pale drow with blond hair and blue eyes, you could RP one that was born an albino, kicked out of his home. Drow dk bent on destroying the world that left him alone as a child, seeking to destroy his own race, the very people that bore him, despised him, and left him on the streets for dead, because of something he had no control of.
